Dinner Disaster (B.A.P)

A brown haired male scurried around the kitchen in a slight panic as a thick black cloud of smoke slipped from the oven and into the air. The smell of charred food, a big indication that something obviously had burned, that is, if the smoke hadn't given that away first. Cooking utensils lay splayed out on the kitchen counter and in the sink, looking like a battle had happened in the kitchen. The smoke alarm was screeching to be turned off, but it was neglected by the panicked blonde since he was trying to find a way to air out the apartment.

His name was Jongup, and he lived together with his closest friend, Daehyun

That night, he had sent Daehyun out to go get something to drink to go with dinner, that way he could surprise his friend with a home cooked meal. You see, it was Daehyun who had usually cooked the meals and Jongup would sit and enjoy them before doing the dishes. This time, he wanted to be the one to cook a meal for his friend, however, things had gone horribly wrong and now the oven was smoking.

In his blind panic, he hadn't realized that Daehyun had returned home and was currently standing in the doorway of the kitchen. His mouth hung slightly open, eyes wide with shock and curiosity, wondering what had happened in the short time that he was out.

Daehyun walked further in, quickly moving to open up the kitchen window so they could air out the apartment a bit. His gaze wandered over the mess that seemed to overflow from the counter tops straight onto the floor, the sink itself looked as if it could cry from how many pots were sitting in it.

"What happened in here? I feel we need to call a natural disaster help line just to get through this." Daehyun asked, sitting the drinks onto the table. That was when Jongup spun around surprised to see his roommate standing there, his own eyes wide with surprise before lowering them in slight shame.

"You weren't supposed to be home yet." Jongup pouted, causing a slight laugh to escape from Daehyun as he shook his head and pushed up his sleeves a bit.

"Well, it didn't take too long to find what you wanted, and...no use pouting over things. Let's see what we can do about this monstrosity of a mess and figure something else for dinner. Okay?" Daehyun gave a curious look towards his younger friend as he carefully stepped into the disaster zone.

First things first, he needed to stop the smoking...well...whatever was smoking in the oven.

Jongup just glanced up, staring at Daehyun, too ashamed and embarrassed to say or do anything. "Why don't you start on the sink, getting those dishes cleaned so we have something to cook in."

Jongup sighed, nodding, it seemed aside from singing that was the only thing he was good at. He and Daehyun had this agreement between them. Daehyun would would do the cooking and Jongup would do the clean. It just seemed easier that way. Maybe he should have just stuck to that agreement and waited for Daehyun to return home. Maybe they wouldn't have been in the mess they were in now.

After about a half hour of cleaning, the dishes were washed and put away so they were easily found, the food from the oven was tossed in the trash too charred to salvage, counter tops were scrubbed and looked as if they'd never been used, and the floors were freshly mopped and rid of food debris. The apartment was still airing out a bit but for the most part things were cleaned and right again. Daehyun was currently looking in the fridge and cupboards for things he would need and could use to get started on a quick dinner. It was already going to be late by the time they ate, so he chose to go with a random vegetable stew.

Jongup stood, watching as the vegetables and other ingredients were brought out one by one and placed upon the countertop. He was leaned against said counter with his head propped up on his hands.

"Can I help?" Daehyun looked up from what he was doing and gave a curious yet wary look.

"Are you going to try to burn the apartment down again?"

"No! That was an accident and I didn't burn the apartment down." Jongup huffed out as Daehyun chuckled and shook his head, causing a slight tinge of pink to form on Jongup's cheeks. "Don't laugh, there's nothing funny about it!" Jongup snapped, whining slightly. It just caused another amused chuckle to slip out of Daehyun.

"Okay okay. No need to yell. How about you just cut up some of the vegetables as I start on the stock." Daehyun said sliding the celery and cutting board over to his younger friend.

The celery was already partially cut and a small pile was forming in the corner of the cutting board. Jongup picked up the knife carefully before he began cutting up the celery into small bits, adding them to the already growing pile in the corner of the cutting board. He didn't get too far before he reached over and picked up a small chunk tossing it at Daehyun.

"You're a horrible friend you know that. Making fun of me and laughing about it." Jongup huffed.

Daehyun flinched slightly as the chunk of celery hit him in the head. His gaze shooting over towards his roommate as he picked up a small piece and tossed it back at Jongup.

"Aww, you wound me. But you looked like a chicken with its head cut off, it was funny?"

Another chunk was tossed by Jongup. "Did not..." He defended.

"Why are you getting so defensive? I'm only playing." Daehyun countered, tossing another chunk at Jongup. Though, apparently that was it for the younger male, because he picked up a handful of celery pieces and tossed them directly at Daehyun. They went everywhere, crashing onto the floor and all over the countertop, not to mention Daehyun's hair.

Daehyun shielded himself with his arm from the barrage of celery being thrown at him. "Really? You're going to throw food at me?" He said, reaching over and grabbing the first food he could get his hands on, which happened to be the small thing of macaroni salad he had placed out. He proceeded to take a small glob and tossed it, hitting Jongup right between the eyes.

For a second, it stunned the younger man in place, but the irritated look vanished from Jongup's eyes and this more devious determined look replaced it.

"So that's how you want to play, fine." He reached over quicker than Daehyun could react, taking a handful of the salad and tossing it right in his friend's face.

The macaroni made contact, sliding down off of Daehyun's face slowly. Jongup erupted into a fit of laughter, finding the image before him rather hilarious. However, his laughter came to a crashing halt as more food started flying, a surprised yelp escaping him as he ran for cover.

There was food everywhere, vegetables that had been chopped for the stew lay everywhere, what was left of the macaroni salad flew through the air and stuck to cabinets and in eachothers hair, tomatoes were squished against the fridge and smashed on the floor. At some point the flour had been grabbed and it now dusted the entire kitchen. It was just utter chaos inside with food flying everywhere and laughter filling the kitchen.

~~~~~~~~
A few minutes had passed, Daehyun and Jongup now sat on the floor covered head to toe in god knows what. They were leaned against the lower cabinets picking food off of their clothes and out of their hair.
"So much for dinner..." Daehyun said with a sigh.
"I don't know, I feel like it was a very good dinner. We both enjoyed it, or I'm assuming so since we are covered in it." a smile formed on Jongup's lips as he turned his attention toward his friend who only laughed at the comment.
"Yeah, I guess it was good."
"So, what now? Dessert?" Jongup gave a curious look, but that smile was still on his face. Daehyun returned it with a small smile of his own, shaking his head in utter amusement and disbelief.
"Let's hold off on dessert for now. Plus, I think you've got dessert stuck in your hair." Daehyun reached over and pulled a chunk of smashed strawberry cake out of Jongup's hair. They stared at it for a brief second before the two just erupted into laughter.
"So much for dinner..." Daehyun repeated still laughing.
"Yeah, but it was fun wasn't it?" Jongup asked, unable to contain his own laughter. Daehyun nodded unable to stop the smile from forming on his lips.
"Yeah, yeah it was fun."
