Chapter 34
RAYYAN's POV
Adore you- Miley Cyrus
My brothers kept glaring at me, so hard I feel the whole bed shaking from beneath me. Binta sat on the chair watching us with a triumphant smile on her face. A clear indication that she has won.
"You have been glaring for the past ten minutes now" I told them
Ismail rolled his eyes "You deserve every bit of glare from us Rayyan"
"If not that he's on the hospital bed, I would have knocked him unconscious" Idris added
Sadiq laughed "Don't finish him off. He's barely standing"
They burst out into laughters and even my lips tugged upward.
Binta looked at us and said "That's not funny guys" then walked out of the room muttering "Boys and their stupid jokes"
Idris sat on the chair next to him and said "Why were you pushing her away?
"Who? I asked feigning ignorance and he glared at me again
"You know exactly who. Binta told us everything" Ismail said and I sighed
"It's hard. You both won't understand because you both are not on this bed. You won't know how it hurts to know someone you love will be absolutely devastated when you're gone"
"So you're now pushing her away so she what? Lose interest in you? Idris asked in an unbelievable tone
I shrugged "It might work"
Ismail half laughed "Then you must be dumb. Very dumb. That girl loves you Rayyan, you think not talking to her or pushing her away will make her stop?
"Well when I leave she have to stop right" I snapped and they kept quiet
"All she asked" Sadiq started saying after our moment of silence "All she asked was moments with you. She doesn't care how it ends or when it ends but you, you're being stubborn and pushing her out. Every.single.time. And this girl never ceases to come back again. What sort of a strong headed person are you? Sadiq finished off angrily
"You know I'm not strong headed" I murmured
"That was before all this" Idris replied then grabbed my hands
"Keep every single thing aside. What is your biggest wish right now?
They all considered me as I consider the question. Keeping this cancer and the situation aside. My one wish have been the one I had ever since I met Ammarah.
"Getting married to Ammarah"
Idris smiled and looked up to our two brothers. Sadiq clapped his hands together and said.
"Your wish, is our command!

Ammarah's POV
"Girl what?? How? When? Where? Whyy? Ammi shouted
"What's the essence of the why Ammi? Aisha asked
"Why haven't she told us until now??
"Because I also heard it now Amms. I replied watching their faces
"You can't get married without us Ammarah. What about our plans" Badiyya said glaring at me
"Guys I know. I was shocked and angry and scared and excited both at the same time and didn't know what to do"
Aisha sighed "So now what is your decision?
I took a deep breath "This is a huge risk for me because if Rayyan do...if he...if he's gone" I gulped tightly "If Rayyan is gone then it will be more painful"
The girls nodded
"But if this is the last chance I have of being Rayyan's wife, then I'll take it" I finished off and they smiled
"If it makes you happy, it is an amazing decision Ammarah. Everyone is just living after all, we never know our time of death" Erica said and I smiled
"When Rayyan is better, y'all can do a party for us in Nigeria then" Ammi said and we laughed
"You really are hell bent on a party" Aisha said
"Of course. We have to fulfill our bridesmaid duties" Badiyya replied
"You guys! I shouted gaining their attention "I AM GETTING MARRIED TO RAYYAN"

Ammarah's POV
I have imagined my wedding in so many ways, in so many places, in so many circumstances but never like this.
Not with a few of my fiancé's family, not with only my foster mothers presence and not my foster dad, not with my real parent, and definitely not in a living room.
But on the early hours of a Friday, Rayyan and I got married in the comfort of my parent's home with the company of our immediate family. By the evening, we moved into our flat which was a five minutes drive from my parent's house.
Even our wedding was exactly how our relationship. Calm, soft, gentle. We were a calm lake with the cancer being the only ripple we have.
For the first month, Rayyan and I lived. He loved more, laughed more and there are moments where his illness was forgotten. Some days he tries to walk and stand upright for minutes, an hour even before he goes back to his wheelchair. He was always tired, with little energy but during the first month of our lives together, the Rayyan I first knew was peeking out slowly.
Rayyan goes to the mosque from Asr and only returns after Ishaa'i. He claims since he couldn't do his fastings now, he will spend more time asking for forgiveness and earning rewards for himself.
He will sit on his wheelchair with a chopping board on his laps helping me while I cook. Or he will order in food for us when I am tired and even tried to make us noodles the day I had a headache.
I walked into the kitchen and saw him struggling to stand up and stir the food. I was both shocked at how he managed to cook this far and how he thought of doing it.
We finished the noodles and ate it while watching my favorite show which he dislikes but secretly adores. In the mornings after subh, he recites Quran in his voice which makes me fall in love with him a bit more with every recited verse and we pick the story of one prophet to discuss about.
During the day we have visitors, bake, play games, discuss about things, try out weird foods, take pictures and make memories.
My parents sometimes visit and so does Binta. Sadiq however barely skips a day before visiting. It was beautiful, the life we created was absolutely beautiful.
Sometimes I'll FaceTime the girls and we'll be talking and laughing with Rayyan chirping in one word or two with laughs of his own. Those moments right there were moments I live for.
On the second day of the second month, I woke up to the groaning of someone. I opened my eyes to pitch darkness and search for my phone to check the time. 1:25am
I looked to my side and saw the silhouette of Rayyan bending over the bed and clutching the bedsheet.
"Ray? I called out in a panicked voice "Ray are you okay" I quickly got down and rushed to his side flicking the lights on.
The AC was working but Rayyan was sweating, clutching a handful of the bedsheet in his hands and clenching his eyes shut.
"Ray.." I started in an overwhelmed and panicked voice "Let me call. Let me...let me call them" I grabbed my phone and with shaky hands and dialed my mother's number.
"Salima? My mom said in a sleepy tone the moment she picked up "Are you okay? Is past midnight"
"Mom" I sobbed "Rayyan"
"Innalillahi wa'innailaihir rajiun" Her voice was clear now and I could hear the urgency in her voice "Let me get your dad. We're coming right away"
She ended the call and I rushed to Rayyan holding him by his shoulders "It's okay Ray, I'm here. It's okay"
I rushed back again to grab his wheel chair then placed it next to him and with great efforts managed to put him on it.
"We're going to the hospital. It will be fine I promise"
Rayyan opened his eyes and looked at me with such a stare that was both terrifying and uplifting. The moment felt like him saying so much.
I held his hands and whispered "For you Ray, everything. Everything"
