Chapter 46: That's Forever Baby
*19th December, 1988*
*Day two of the holiday to Paris*
I'm awoken by a series of gentle kisses on my neck and cheeks. I giggle softly at the tickling feeling they give me. My eyes are still closed, but Michael knows I'm awake.
"Wakey wakey, little girl," Michael coos, running his forefinger down my spine.
It tickles me further and I arch my back from the feeling. I turn over to face Michael.
"Michael.. just a few more minutes.." I beg in a whisper.
I open my eyes and the first sight I receive is Michael. He chuckles softly.
"Baby, no, c'mon, it's already 9:47am. That's like, half a day gone!" he cries.
I place my finger over his lips to shut him up.
"Michael, I am a pregnant woman, hmm-kay? I need my beauty sleep," I protest.
Michael takes my finger away from his mouth and fiddles with my fingers.
"Why would you need beauty sleep? You already took all the beauty from it," he says.
I try to stop a smile coming to my face. But it doesn't work.
"See, I knew that'd make you smile. Now, c'mon, up. We've got a good day today, I've already planned it," Michael says.
I groan quietly and drag my head away from the pillow. I sit up and look at Michael sleepily. God, I miss that pillow already.
"So, what are we doing today?" I ask.
"That would be telling," he replies, taking my hand and guiding me to the bathroom to brush my teeth, my hair, etcetera.
"Don't involve heights or planes though, please," I request. Michael chuckles.
"Oh, didn't you know? We're going skydiving," he says sarcastically.
I rinse my toothbrush under the tap and flick some of the water from it onto Michael's face. He cringes at the gentle splash and covers his face with his hands.
"Ok, ok! I'm sorry! No, I can't tell you where we're going today, apart from, we're going sight seeing. But I can't tell you where yet," he says. I sigh.
"Alright. C'mon, I need to change, then we can go," I say.
We walk into the bedroom and I change into a turquoise shirt and a pair of jeans. I look at myself in the full body mirror.
God, my bump doesn't half make me look stupid.
"I look ridiculous," I protest, turning a little to the side to look at my body from the left.
I exhale and turn back around, placing my hand on my stomach. Michael comes up behind me and hugs me from behind, interlocking his fingers with mine. He rubs my stomach and kisses my cheek.
"You know it'll be worth it in the end. And besides, you already look beautiful, bump or no bump," he tells me.
I smile at his gentle tone of voice.
"Thanks baby.. I just wish that you didn't change shape from having a child.." I chuckle.
Michael takes a breath, the warmth of it tickles my neck.
"I know. Anyway, c'mon, let's go," he smiles.
He takes my hand and we walk outside. It's warm out, despite it being winter. As we're walking down the street, Michael and I talk.
"It's a shame we gotta go home the day after my birthday," I say. Michael nods.
"Yeah, I know. I wish we could stay here longer, too. I mean, we've only been here a day, but I already love it here," he replies.
I look to the side.
"But, if we stayed here for too long, it might get boring after a while, seeing the same beautiful thing everyday," I say. Michael squeezes my hand tight.
"How is it possible to get bored of looking at the same beautiful thing each day?" he asks. I sigh.
"Well, after a few years it might get repetitive," I reply. Michael looks down.
"What's wrong?" I ask. He looks back up.
"I've managed to look at the same beautiful thing every single day. I'm not bored yet," he says.
"What beautiful thing?" I ask.
"Isn't it obvious? You, Becky. Does this mean you'll get bored of me, soon? I mean, I'm not saying I'm beautiful, but, baby, what we have together is beautiful. Our relationship is beautiful. Our love is beautiful. Our child will be, too. Please don't say that all of this will become boring after a few years.." Michael tells me.
Damn, he's so sweet. I stop walking and stand opposite him. I kiss his cheek.
"You're one thing in life I can't get bored of," I say.
He looks down at me, a small smile on his face.
"Promise me, seriously, promise me you'll never leave me," Michael requests.
I smile and look up at his perfect eyes.
"Michael Joe Jackson, I promise I'll be with you until the day I die," I vow. Michael smiles.
"I promise that I'll stay with you until my time is over, too. That's forever, baby. I'll be with you forever and beyond," Michael assures me in return.
He leans his head close to mine, our noses touching.
"Because, I love you more than life itself," he whispers, before pulling my body closer to his.
He kisses my lips passionately. His lips are so soft, so gentle. I could kiss them forever and never get bored.
He places his hand on the back of my neck, and pulls away from me slowly.
"Now, c'mon, let's go sightsee," Michael tells me.
He takes my hand and we walk a couple of steps. He stops in his tracks.
"Look, over there," he tells me.
I look where his hand is pointing. It's a guy, he looks about 30-something, bending down on one knee.
He's proposing to his girlfriend, who is standing with her hands over her mouth, crying from happiness and shock.
"Will you marry me?" we see the guy ask.
We can't actually hear him, but the way he's moving his lips indicate that he's asking the killer question.
The girl nods frantically and the man stands up and kisses her passionately. He places the ring on her finger, and they hug one last time.
Imagine proposing to your girl in front of the Louvre Pyramid? That's almost as good as proposing in like, the Eiffel Tower!
Wow, imagine that? That'd be perfect, wouldn't it?
Wait, what? The Louvre Pyramid?!
"Michael, look!" I squeal, looking at the Louvre Pyramid with excitement.
Michael smirks.
"Yeah, that's where we're going first. Along with the Louvre museum. C'mon, let's go," he chuckles, pulling me towards the pyramid.
This looks like fun.
"It's so big!" I giggle, staring straight up at the height of the pyramid.
Michael rubs my back and leans his head by mine.
"I know. But I know something that's bigger," he tells me.
"Oh god, what? Please don't say me!" I joke. Michael kisses my hand.
"Of course not, baby. But my love for you is bigger than everything that makes up the universe," he says.
"Well, I love you more than that," I retort playfully.
Michael nuzzles my cheek.
"Uh, no, baby. You're mistaken. I think I love you more. Look, you're already getting baby brain. Tut tut," Michael chuckles.
"Michael, baby brain makes you forget things, not make you dumb!" I giggle. Michael rolls his eyes.
"Look, all I know is that I love you more than anyone has ever loved anyone before in the HIStory of HIStory, ok?" Michael says.
I shake my head and chuckle.
"Whatever you say, sweetheart," I reply.
Michael places his arm around me.
"C'mon, we'll go a few more places, then home," he says.
We walk down the streets of Paris, seeing a lot of beautiful things, places like the Notre Dame Cathedral, Il Saint Louis, the River Seine, and the Arc De Triomphe.
All of them are beautiful, and what makes it more beautiful is the fact that I'm seeing all these beautiful things with a beautiful thing of my own.
Michael.
