Last chapter showed us the dark side of the space environment, as a cosmic clone of Yoshi was unleashed on the city, and going as Yoshi started it's reign of chaos. Only one thing was enough to get the real Yoshi going, as his friendship was severely damaged...

"Alright, just need to find that clone of me, and stop it right on his tracks." Yoshi said, very confidently. He walked around, and everything looked seemingly normal. Just then, he saw the Mario Bros. walking around, as if looking for someone.

"Man, I hope that they haven't seen Cosmic, and that M. Para Koopa hasn't told them about anything. All that about me isn't true." Yoshi said as he approached the Bros. "H-hey guys!" Yoshi saluted, but the response was an attack by Luigi.

"Wow!! What's the problem?!" Yoshi yelled as he freed himself and threw Luigi off, just then Mario lunged towards him.

"Why are they attacking me?! This isn't Smash Bros!" Yoshi said, and looked at Luigi, then at Mario. Both had bright red eyes and dark blue particles circling around them.

"They're being controlled, but by who?!" Yoshi said, and as Mario ran towards him, he had no other option than to fight back. He pushed himself to attack Mario, and threw him towards Luigi.

Both Bros. Yelled and Mario attempted to stand up, but Yoshi was stepping on his foot.

"Will you say something?! Who is this?!" Yoshi said, looking menacingly at the Bros. Red eyes.
Just then, their eyes flashed back. Mario to his usual sky blue, and Luigi to his lighter variation of blue.

"Say... Say what?" Mario shook his head, and asked.

"Yeah, what are you talking about? And where are we?" Luigi added, completely disoriented.

It took Yoshi no more than a few seconds to realize what was going on.

"We are in Toad Road. I think you guys were under control of someone." Yoshi said, and looked around.

"I think it was by you... Never knew you had hypnotic powers..." Mario said, recalling what he last remembered.

"What?"

"Yeah! You came over to us after coming out of the bank, and you put Mario in a trance! And me too, wasn't able to run in time..." Luigi explained.

"... That wasn't me." Yoshi said, and clutched the hammer, which he had now in hand.

"How so? Green Yoshis are few, but it's easy to distinguish who's you." Mario said.

"No. You see, you know cosmic clones? The ones you guys raced against in Mario Galaxy?" Yoshi asked, and the Bros. Nodded.

"So, it seems I have one too, and it's making himself appear like me so he can cause chaos! He's already done enough!" Yoshi said, remembering M. Para Koopa.

"Wait, really?" Luigi said, surprised. Just then, an explosion was heard.

"What?!" The there yelled in unison.

Toad came running towards them, scared, and stopped, not even noticing Yoshi.

"Yoshi!! He's attacking some houses!!!" Toad yelled, scared.

"No, that ain't Yoshi!" Luigi said back, and moved aside to Show Yoshi was right there.

"What?!?!" Toad said. He was extremely confused. Yoshi was just at the Plaza!

"No, don't get fooled! That guy is a clone of me, and he's here to cause trouble in my name!" Yoshi said, and started running towards the damaged area, Mario, Luigi and Toad soon followed.

Meanwhile, M. Para Koopa was on top of a house nearby, looking for the Mario Bros. "I need to tell them the walking hell that is their friend!" He said, and just them he saw them, and flew towards them.

"Hey! Mario! Luigi! I got news to tell ya!"

"If it's about Bowser, it can wait! We're dealing with Double trouble!" Mario said.

"Oh, so Yoshi's having fun messing with you?!" M. Para Koopa said.

"What?! No!" Mario yelled back, and then he realized who this was. "Argh!! It's you!! The Koopa friend he has!! What are you here for?! Try and destroy Yoshi's reputation?!"

"Practically! Because he isn't what he claims!" M. Para Koopa said. His words made it sound enough for Mario that this was no friend.

"Then get over here!!!" Mario jumped towards M., but Before he could hit him the Koopa hit first, by stomping on him.

"Ouch!! You little punk!" Mario said, and before their little fight continued, a Police car stopped near them.

"Where's Yoshi?! We are gonna have a problem!!" Toadley said, with a Fire Flower in hand

"He's right here!" Luigi said and looked, but there was no Yoshi to be seen. "Where'd he go?!"

Everyone looked around, and just then, a knife fell just beside Toadley.

"AHH!!! HE'S HERE!!! RUN!!!" He screamed, scared, and left the Fire Flower as he ran away.

Then, Yoshi arrived, stepping on top of the car, with his demented smile.

"Well, well, well. If it isn't my good group of friends...." Yoshi said, laughing.

"There he is! There's the monster that your friend is!" M. Para Koopa said, shying a few inches back.

".... No way. This is an impostor!" Mario said, remembering what Yoshi told him.

"Looks like someone is deeply traumatized, now ain't it?!" Yoshi yelled, and lunged towards M. Para Koopa.
The latter braced for impact, but instead, Yoshi got slammed against a wall.

"Ouch!!! Argh... Who did... That?!" Yoshi said, attempting to stand up. His eyes flashed like an unstable robot. From his blue, to bright red, to a dark blue.

"Drop the act, Cosmic." Yoshi said as he landed on the other side of where he was. His eyes were red and he had red aura surrounding, but it was clear it was him. That's a clear sign of his anger.

Mario, Luigi, Toad and M. Para Koopa had eyes widened in shock. There were 2 Yoshis (character) facing each other. Both would be exactly identical if it wasn't for the eyes and weaponry.

Cosmic's demented stare turned to a look of worry as he saw Yoshi. This wasn't caring worry, more like when you get caught doing something.

"Oh... Hello there, Yoshi! Ha ha... Ouch..." Cosmic said, grunting at some pain.

"Do as I say! Drop the act right now and fight, or scram!" Yoshi yelled, and his voice echoed. Everyone was looking, and was just as shocked, for their own reasons.

"Fine... If so you say... Heh Heh..." Cosmic said, and attempted to walk as he changed into his true appearance. His tail and body changed from green and white to pure space blue and stars. His boots, saddle, spines and eyes switched to a bright glowing red.

Everyone was speechless. They couldn't comprehend who, or even, what was that.

".... What...?" Mario said. Toad and Luigi were hiding in fear behind him. M. Para Koopa just looked, questioning himself.

"If you want to fight, it's fine by me. I won't go down without a fight."  Yoshi said, firmly looking at Cosmic.

"Interesting... But I'd personally take it the old school way." Cosmic said. "A race."

He was a Cosmic clone, and that's pretty much how things got settled with him.

"Alright, I accept." Yoshi nodded, and waited for conditions.

"Our race will start right here, and we'll take a pathway down to the bottom part of the starting planet of Good Egg Galaxy. Winner takes a star. Loser? Gets out the Mushroom Kingdom, deserted. There's so much place for only one." Cosmic explained. Mario and Toad yelled at that last part.

"Don't do it! He might have some tricks up his sleeve!" Mario warned.
"Yeah! What if he wants to kill you while he can?!" Toad added.

"That might be, but I accept. I'll do it." Yoshi said out loud.

"Excellent! No time to rest li'l buddy! We'll do it right now.

"Alright, as you please." Yoshi agreed.

Both Yoshis got on their positions, and Officer Toadley stood in front of them.

"Alright! These two Yoshis will let out a high speed race all the way to space! Whoever reaches the finish line in the estipulated place will be the winner!" Toadley said.

"Good luck, 'friend'." Cosmic looked at Yoshi, and smiled. Yoshi looked, but paid no mind to the taunt.

"3!!!"

"2!!"

"1!"

"GO!!!" Toadley yelled, and the 2 Yoshis dashed off, as everyone cheered.



The Yoshis started running all the way. However, Cosmic wasn't going to give a fair race.

"Have some stars, old friend!" Cosmic said while throwing Star Bits at Yoshi's feet.

"Hey! What's the problem?!" Yoshi said, and tripped, but he quickly recovered, and followed Cosmic.

Right about then, Cosmic looked behind, and there was no one to be seen.

"Huh... Where did he go? I guess he shyed off?!" Cosmic asked, and just then, Yoshi jumped on him, disorienting him.

"If there's not going to be a fair race, then so be it!!" Yoshi yelled, and ran off.

"Argh! You don't simply get better at cheating!!" Cosmic said, angered, and chased Yoshi.

That's pretty much how half the race went. Each other tripped and slammed, crashed and clashed all the way to Good Egg Galaxy.

"Alright.... No fair race given... But you fought back... How nice." Cosmic commented.

"Exactly." Yoshi replied.

"Looks like my old rival hasn't changed one bit! Hasta la vista!" Cosmic said, and ran off one of the 2 bridges at the sides to reach the finish line, Yoshi took the other.

The race reached it's peak, and both Yoshis ran up the tower, where Star bits encased on a crystal stood.

"I WIN!!!" Both screamed and jumped to land, but instead, both crashed against each other, and fell on the crystal, breaking it and releasing the Star bits.

"Ouch... My head..." Yoshi said, as his head had slammed face first on the glass.

"Gah... I'm not feeling so well." Cosmic said, also clutching his head, because he had also hit the glass like that.

"I think it's a tie..." Yoshi said, and stood up.

"Yup... Drats." Cosmic said.

"Well, looks like we got no winner. Let's leave it like that like now." Yoshi said, and offered his hand to Cosmic.

"Fine... I'll be a honorable rival." Cosmic said back, and reluctantly shook Yoshi's hand.

"We'll meet again, soon!" Yoshi said, and left. Cosmic just sat down, to look at the Earth from it's upside down view. He wanted to settle things with Yoshi, but he had to rest.

Yoshi returned back to Earth, over to where everyone was.

"How did it go? Did you win?!" Mario said, excited.

"Nope... It was a very anticlimactic tie." Yoshi said, and chuckled.

"Aww.." Toad said.

Mario and Luigi just laughed.

"Oh well! At least things weren't taken too far. Ending on a happy note is my specialty." Mario said, happy it was all over.

"Indeed." Yoshi said, and approached M. Para Koopa, who had yet a look of anger on his eyes. "So... Now it's all set, friend?"

"No. Don't even call me friend anymore. That was nothing more than a stupid act. I even stopped seeing it, because I know it's all fake. I know who you are. We're no longer friends. Good bye." M. Para Koopa said, anger and fear clouding his judgment.

The words hit Yoshi like a shot to the heart. He was destroyed.

"Ouch...." Mario said, surprised.
"This didn't end up in a happy note at all..." Luigi added.

Yoshi fell to his knees, and looked at the pavement. He didn't want to be seen by anyone.

"Yoshi... Don't worry, maybe... It'll all be fine..." Luigi said, patting Yoshi in the back. He didn't want Mario to get near, since he didn't trust M. Para Koopa, but Luigi knew there was a deep friendship between them.

"Just... Leave me alone... I can't do anything...." Yoshi said, and signaled Luigi to stay back. Luigi obliged, as so to not hurt his friend.

As he was about to say something, Yoshi wiped his tears, and ran off to his home, and sealed his door and windows shut. Mario, Luigi and Toad approached the house later. Slight sobs could be heard.

Oh no... The friendship Yoshi and M. Had seems to have finally shattered, and looks like there's no fixing... Or is there?
