Chapter 6
As Sidharth and Shehnaaz drive home they didn't know how and what to speak to each other. They were tied together into a relationship which they had escaped once.
Sidharth was residing alone in city hence he had been staying in a 1 Bedroom house. He opened the door of his house and directly went into his room.
Shehnaaz stepped inside the house though with hesitation. She looked around and saw that the house was messy with clothes lying almost in every corner of the house. Few books and a tea cup on the table. It didn't have much furniture as well. There was just a table and 2 chairs in the hall, a small book rack in the corner and a television.
She kept her suitcase in one corner and sat on the chair not knowing what to do. It had been more than 2 hours since they arrived. Sidharth didn't come out of his room and she still sat on the chair. She wanted to use the bathroom but she has no idea where it was.
Where am I stuck? I was so comfortable at Janvi's house and this bhaiyya left me here with this person who didn't even for once think that I might need something. I have to help myself, now that I have to stay here, till God knows when.
She got up and went exploring the doors. She saw the kitchen, the messy one again. Then she pushed another door which was his room. He was sleeping and the creek sound woke him up. He sat up straight and looked at her in annoyance.
Sidharth: Get out of my room. You entered my life uninvited. You entered my house uninvited and now you are entering my room. This is my territory. You are allowed to do whatever you want outside this room but don't ever step inside this room.
She came outside the room feeling insulted.
I had no intention of coming here or any other places he mentioned. It's just my helplessness. I think he blames me for everything happening in his life. I am capable of going back but I don't want my bhaiyya to harm him in anyway. So even if you don't want I have to stay for your well-being until I try to convince bhaiyya.
She saw another door and checked it. It was a bathroom. She used it and came outside. She tidied the entire hall. She was hungry so she went to the kitchen. She cleaned up everything before she prepared food for herself and for him as well.
She ate her food and went to the hall. She pulled a chair and kept his food on it covered near his room entrance with a note stating FOOD.
She occupied another chair and checked her phone. There were few unread messages, all from Arthur.
Arthur: Hey Sana, are you there? (5 times repeated the same message with interval of 15 minutes in between)
Arthur: Where are you Sana? (10 minutes later)
Arthur: Ping me when you are available. (15 minutes later)
Shehnaaz types him a reply.
Sana: Hi Arthur, Are you alright?
Sidharth's heart skipped a beat when the phone beeped. He immediately picked a phone and typed in a message.
Arthur: No, I am not alright Sana. Where were you, why weren't you replying me?
Sana: Sorry Arthur, my phone was on silent. What happened to you?
Arthur: Nothing physically. But mentally I feel exhausted and rejected.
Sana: Who can reject you Arthur? Look around, may be you are not accepting. It's not just you Arthur, even I have a problem in my life right now but I am putting up my fight. I want to keep myself up because there is no one to support me.
Sidharth thought for a while.
Indeed I am not accepting. It is a fact that I married Shehnaaz though mistakenly. May be I am over thinking. May be she isn't really involved in plotting to marry me. May be everything is just a coincidence or someone else's plan to spoil our lives. May be we are sailing in the same boat.
Sana: Arthur, Are you there? I am sorry! Did any of my words hurt you?
Arthur: No Sana, Don't be sorry. I was just thinking. My mind had stopped working but your words have me guidance.
Sana: Arthur, when mind stops working, it's a sign that we should listen to our hearts because it's pure and even if it's on your left, it is always right.
Arthur: Sana, what do you think about marriage?
Sana: I don't know Arthur. I really do know!
(She thinks..)
Sana: I think it's just accepting things and moving forward. Being considerate about other.
Arthur: Sana, I'll talk to you in some time.
Sidharth goes out of the room and finds a chair near the door and a note food written on a lunch box. He looks around the house which looked organised and in a corner, he finds Shehnaaz. She had spread a shawl on the floor, kept a small bag as a pillow and was lying with her back facing towards him. He felt an unknown guilt rise in his gut.
I kept her out of the room without thinking how she is going to adjust in the hall. The bed in the room is too small to allow her. May be I can atleast give her a mat and a blanket to sleep.
He went inside his room and picked up a mat and a blanket and kept it behind her. He didn't speak a word but kept a note on it FOR YOU.
He picked up the lunch box and went inside his room. He took a first bite of the food. It was delicious. He ate everything and felt content. He got up and went to the kitchen and found the kitchen tidied. He washed the box and kept it and placed a note 'THANK YOU' on it.
He glanced at her while going inside his room, she was now sleeping on the mat covering herself with a blanket.
Arthur: Thanks Sana. After talking to you I feel lighter. Good night.

Shehnaaz woke up early took bath and went to the kitchen. She smiled at the Thank you note. She prepared breakfast and lunch box for both of them. She placed it on the chair along with the note. 'LUNCH' 'BREAKFAST' 'LEAVING FOR OFFICE'.
Shehnaaz commuted via public transport so she left for work early. Sidharth woke up as usual and stepped outside and read the note. He mostly ate his food in canteen and only sometimes he cooked for himself, especially the dinner.
He smiled remembering the delicious food he got to eat last night and that he can try yet another one in few minutes. He got ready quickly and savoured the delicacy and went to office with an unknown smile on his face.

Sidharth's colleagues were surprised to see him with a lunch box during the lunch break.
Tiwari: What Sir? Today you got lunch box and a smile eating it. Did you marry secretly?
Sidharth was surprised to hear his words. Is this the perks of getting married, he thought.
Sidharth: How can you say I got married? It can be made by my mom as well or I might have just got a Tiffin service.
Tiwari: Sir, I have been married for 15 years now. I have some experience as well. That smile comes when you eat your wife made delicacy only. Mom made food we eat since birth and Tiffin service doesn't have that feeling of own-ness for someone.
Feeling of own-ness for someone? We don't even talk to each other, from where will that feeling come?
Sidharth: Could be but you are wrong Tiwari, I got this from a Tiffin service and my smile was because I remembered something funny.
Tiwari: My bad, Sir! That food looks tasty though, which Tiffin service is it from? Baankey was asking for a Tiffin service since is wife is going to her maternal home to deliver a baby.
Sidharth: Aaa.. Aaa.. he stays on the other side of the city right? It will be far for him. Ask him to check online, he would find one close by.
Sidharth quickly ate the food and excused himself before Tiwari could probe more questions.

It was evening and Sidharth left to radio station directly from office as usual. Shehnaaz reached home from office but she didn't have keys to go inside the house, neither did she have his number. She sat outside on stairs listening to Arthur's show on her phone with a headphone.
She decided to call the radio station. She kept calling and finally got lucky to be picked up.
Arthur: Hello, this is RJ Arthur
Shehnaaz: Hi, my name is Sana and I want to pull a prank on my best friend.
Arthur: (smiled) Sure Sana. You've got a nice name. What is your best friend's number?
Shehnaaz gives him his number itself and he couldn't hold himself from smiling.
Arthur: Sure, what's your best friend's name?
Sana: Well, coincidentally his name is also Arthur, you see! Please play a nice prank on him. He needs a good laugh and dedicate a song to him later.
Arthur: You can dedicate yourself, what would you want to dedicate?
Sana: Jaane Kyu from Dostana.
Arthur: Nice song for a friend. I am sure he will be happiest and is a luckiest one to have a friend like you. Stay tuned.
He tries calling his own number which was in his locker outside and when it went answered..
Arthur: Hey Sana, looks like your friend is a bit busy. But I am sure he will be smiling somewhere at your sweet gesture. For now will play the song you dedicated.
