The Art Show

"She wants Lance as a trophy or she wants him for his body?" Ian asked, painting a new picture.

"A little bit of both." I replied.

"Oh, poor gal. And I heard that she entered the art show." Ian told me.

I looked shocked, "Is she serious? She can't draw, let alone paint."

"That's the issue with girls on a mission. They will do the most to get the man they desire." Ian replied.

"What happens when they find out that the man wants nothing to do with them?" I asked.

"Then they'll lash out and try to screw up up someone's life." Ian answered.

"You should go into psychology." I told him.

"I've thought about it, but I enjoy art way too much. I'll probably major in psychology to pay the bills if I don't get into the art school." Ian explained.

"You'll make it." I said.

"And so will you, which is why I sent a recording of your singing to them." he said with a smirk."

"What?! Ian! I didn't ask for your permission!" I exclaimed.

"I know, but I'm tired of seeing you being miserable. Well, you haven't been as miserable since Lance came to town. " he said. He showed me his picture. It was me and him, laughing on the beach.

"This is the Elisa I know. Happy, fearless, ready at a moment's notice to make people happy. Is she gone forever?" he asked me.

I thought about it, then I said, "No, she's not."

He smiled, "While I'm at it, the letter will be sent to my place."

-TIME SKIP-

Here we are at the art show. I was helping Ian set up. I asked, "Will I forever be your muse?"

"Of course, unless I find another girl who can handle my artistic sensibilities." he answered.

Victoria's painting(if you could call it that) was being set up not too far from us. She gave me a death glare and kept on setting up with her cohorts. Ian said, "It's amusing, really. She really wants to succeed in winning Lance."

"How are you amused by this? It's absolutely sickening." I replied.

"To you, because you've seen her desperation firsthand. Me, this is only the second time I'm witnessing this." Ian answered.

"When was the first time?" I asked.

"When she tried to win my cousin over when he came over for a visit. She failed miserably though. Maybe I shouldn't have laughed." Ian explained.

"Well, that would explain why she's always glaring at you." I replied.

The art show has begun. People who were viewing the paintings stopped and asked about the paintings. Ian's explanation was always the same, "This was inspired by me and my friend here, Elisa Hathaway. We've been friends for so long, I plan to cherish that bond."

The people smiled and complimented him and me. Victoria wasn't doing as well. Lance arrived and stopped where we are, "Hello, Elisa. Hello, Ian. Love the painting."

"Thanks, man." Ian replied.

"Did you paint Elisa and yourself?" Ian asked.

"Yep. She's been my muse since I started painting." Ian said plainly.

"And as usual, you give me too much credit." I told Ian.

"I don't think so. He captured you better than I ever could." Lance said with a smile.

Victoria walked over and said, "Hey, Lance. Have you seen my painting?"

He looked at him. I saw his face couture toward shock, but it was subtle. He has much better control over his emotions than I do. He answered, "It's quite interesting. What was your inspiration?"

She began to stutter, then the host said, "Alright, everyone. Now to announce the recipient of the full scholarship to UCLA."

Ian was squeezing the circulation out of my hand. The host said, "Ian Rankin!"

-TIME SKIP-

Ian wouldn't stop talking while I was driving him home. I said, "Congratulations, Ian. Now can you keep it down a couple of notches?"

"Sorry. Now we just have to wait on your letter." he said.

"But I haven't sung in a long time." I said.

"You know what? Come by tomorrow. We'll try you out." he replied.

I smiled, "Alright."
