"We got her." Graham walked into the dance hall and slipped into a seat at the table Gaia and Harry sat at.

"Yes!" Gaia pumped her fist into the air. "How? Is she going to prison?"

Graham shook his head. "I went to the Captain, and as you heard, a ship wide announcement to stay in your cabins was made."

Gaia blushed, her cheeks red, as she said, "We enjoyed the time thoroughly."

He winked at her and then Harry before saying, "Of course, you did. You're on your honeymoon. I expect you to enjoy each other and build a close bond. It will serve you well for the rest of your marriage."

"The announcement as you know, we went door to door knocking and identifying everyone. We came across three empty rooms. Therefore, five people. Double checking with the pursers, we found out that two of the rooms were empty, the passengers never checked in. That left one. Amanda Fitzroy-Evans."

"So, you had a name. Any identifying pictures?" Harry asked as he flagged down one of the serving maids.

"No, but we got a description from the cleaning staff, who saw her pacing the hallways more than once. She was caught muttering about the children on board and how many of them should learn to be seen and not heard."

They gave their orders for drinks to the young woman who came over holding a large serving tray loaded with empty glasses and beer bottles.

"Only Pepsi for you, ma'am?" Her rich Irish lilt gave Graham reason to pause as he studied her. Glorious brown eyes stared him down, and he looked away.

"Pepsi, and nothing alcoholic. Perhaps you can find some ginger ale as well, Melinda?" Gaia requested.

"We've all heard you've been seasick all of a sudden. I'm so sorry. I'll make sure I track some down. Would ginger beer work? I know we have that."

Graham chuckled at Gaia's expression when ginger beer came up. He wondered if she was with child but realizing the pair had only been married for a bit over a week, he doubted it.

"No, thank you. I've never liked the yeasty taste of beer or the bitterness."

Harry brought our conversation back on track when he asked, "How did you track her down then?"

"We locked down the bulkhead doors as we moved forward, having searched every nook and cranny as we went. We found Fitzroy-Evans' cabin up in the most forward section where the cheapest cabins are." Graham told them and accepted his whiskey from Melinda when she returned.

"Gaia, I'll have your ginger ale in just a moment. Do you want ice in it?" Again, her dark chocolate eyes met Graham's with a saucy wink.

The swing band began to play Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, and Gaia hopped up. Extending her hand to Graham she asked, "Do you do the jive. Harry and I can dance all the others, but the jive is so difficult to do without adding the slides and throws. What do you think?"

"I tell you the rest of the story after. Come on, Red, let's show this crowd how to dance." Graham looked right in the eye. It was the first time he felt like dancing in forever.

"Side by side first? I'll follow your lead," Gaia said.

"Go for it. Simple slide kicks okay?" Graham suggested.

Gaia nodded and drew a deep breath. Dancing in her trousers was a unique sensation. Holding Graham's hand she followed his rhythm until he turned and joined hands with her facing him and they began the complicated quick steps moving away and back before he took her hand and twirled her out and in again.

The crowded dance floor emptied to give the tall couple room to move, and they continued complete with Gaia completing a hop into his arms and then extending her arched back and long legs into the air as he pushed her away. Landing on her feet she slid between his legs twisting as she went and popped back to feet, tapping her partner on his shoulder as the last few bars of music sped by. He pulled her through a spin in and she ended in his arms to the applause of the entire audience.

Graham's smile split his face with delight as he took a bow, and Gaia curtsied. Then he bowed again, toward his partner and she dropped another deep curtsy. Harry came across the floor with a single red rose for his wife.

"You would have knocked me flying if we tried that," he whispered as he took her hand. "Wave, love. You've got them eating out of your hand."

Graham took her other hand and they led her back to their table. "That was the first time I've danced since I was in med school."

"You dance like a pro." Gaia said.

"Did a couple of marathon dance competitions during the war years. But back to the topic at hand. Amanda Fitzroy-Evans and her murderous hands."

"Hmm, yes indeed. What happened? She must have been just a little ahead of you all as you cleared the lower levels," Gaia guessed.

"Exactly. We came out on the stern deck and I caught a glimpse of her racing down the passage beside the deck chairs on the starboard side. We locked the doors, and she tried them as she went back. I followed her, waiting for more of the men to appear behind me, but she was quick. She really did have those oddly long middle fingers. Almost an inch longer than the others."

Gaia nodded. "I saw her through Betty's eyes. They were the last thing she saw before she died."

Graham sipped his whiskey, and Harry raised his glass as well. Gaia took a long swallow of her iced ginger ale. He wondered if she guessed where this would end.

"I yelled at her to stop. The Chief Engineer came out the door under the exhaust funnels. Five more men followed him, and they formed a semi-circle have surrounding her as she backed toward the bow."

"She jumped, didn't she?" Harry guessed.

Graham nodded. "Her last words --- 'They should be seen, not heard.'"

"We'll never know what made her that way, will we?" Harry said.

"Not unless she wants to tell me," Gaia said. "But I very much doubt that will come to pass. I think she has been running from her demons and slaying them at the same time."

"Don't blame yourself, Graham," Harry told him.

"Not a chance. You gave me a gift, Gaia, and little Betty too. I expect she's at peace now too. The dead don't weigh as heavily anymore. They'll always be with me, but not like it was."
