Jimin sat in his favorite spot, the far back, near the windows, in the University's library. He had his headphones in listening to his favorite artists at the time. He enjoyed listening to almost any genre of music, anything that can give him a bit of an escape from his busy college life. He wasn't picky because there's just something about plugging his headphones in, throwing his head back, and closing his eyes that relaxes him. These times were always perfect in between strenuous homework assignments and the constant day to day surrounded by hormonal young adults. Of course college life is much better to deal with than the adolescent drama of high school, but his sophomore year is proving to be particularly challenging. It doesn't help that he seems to be completely clueless as to what he wants to do with his life.
He's so zoned out that he doesn't notice the slightly taller, blonde haired male that sits across from him at his usual table. It isn't until the said blonde waves his pale hand in front of Jimin's face that he receives any sort of acknowledgement from Jimin.
Jimin darts his eyes up and makes eye contact with the older, but quickly looks back down at his IPod, clearly unwilling to pay much attention to the other. The older tried calling the younger, brunette's name a few times without being too loud for the library, but figured his volume on the device must be too high for him to even hear it. Eventually, he's had enough of Jimin's game and reaches his hand forward to yank the earbuds right out of the younger's ears.
"Min Yoongi!" Jimin screeched, incredibly annoyed that Yoongi had just forced him to ditch his world of bliss.
"Park Jimin!" Yoongi mocked with a smirk.
Jimin just rolled his eyes and before he could put the earbuds back in, Yoongi childishly pleaded, "Please stop ignoring your hyung! So disrespectful!" He started to pout ridiculously, "I want to talk to you!"
Jimin knows the older's immature ways all to well. Although Yoongi tends to be a serious person around most people, and a little intimidating, he can be a totally different person around Jimin, the REAL him.
Yoongi is a goofball at heart, but he's also dramatic and a little selfish at times.
They have been best friends since they were babies, so Jimin knows the blonde's tactic all to well. He will whine and beg until Jimin gives in and gives him what he wants, and Jimin ALWAYS caves.
He can recall a time when they were five and Jimin wanted to play house, but Yoongi insisted that they play superheros. Although Jimin had already planned the perfect scenario of Yoongi playing the dad and himself as the mom, Yoongi threw a tantrum until the younger gave in, resulting in Jimin begrudgingly playing as Robin and Yoongi as Batman. Jimin never got to play Batman.
There was also a time in their first year of high school when Yoongi wanted to be juvenile and skip class to go to a cafe nearby. Of course Jimin immediately rejected the idea, but ultimately, after all of Yoongi's pestering, followed anyway, which later landed the two in detention and in a lot of trouble with their parents.
"Please!" Yoongi begged some more, slighty pushing his bottom lip out in a pout.
Jimin sighed. "Fine, what's up?" he muttered.
It's not that Jimin doesn't want to simply talk with his best friend, it's just that he already knows how the whole conversation will go, if you can even call it a conversation. Yoongi will just boast about her and expect Jimin to listen.
Yoongi was completely infatuated and lovestruck by his girlfriend of almost 6 months, Kang Sera. He thought that she hung the moon in the sky and that she was absolutely perfect. He treated her like a precious gem, but Jimin found it horribly disgusting.
Jimin didn't hate Sera. Okay, let's face it, he hated her.
It wasn't that she was popular and always the center of attention, or the way she obnoxiously swayed her hips in a seductive manner to get Yoongi's attention, even though those things alone were annoying. It was the way she clearly despised Jimin, but Yoongi was too smitten to notice how her eyes always seemed to glare daggers into Jimin whenever he was near the couple.
She hated how close the pair was. The two friends were almost always together, at least until she wedged herself in the picture. Now Jimin rarely gets to spend time with the older male without the girl calling with some kind of emergency that requires Yoongi's attention right then and there. They mostly get times like these in between classes to spend time with each other, but as of recently, these moments are completely filled with Yoongi talking about Kang Sera.
Yoongi has always come to Jimin with all of his relationship talk, whether it be good or bad, and the younger would always listen.
The blonde has had other girlfriends and boyfriends before Sera and Jimin didn't particularly like any of them either, but that was nothing compared to his hatred for Sera. He hated always talking about her with Yoongi.
He just didn't see what his friend saw in her.
Although Jimin can't deny how pleasing her physical appearance is, with her slim figure and long legs, he just can't get past her personality. She was straight up rude and demanding. The way she pushed Yoongi around was upsetting to the brunette.
"So Sera did the sweetest thing yesterday and-" Yoongi chirped, but was quickly cut off by the younger.
"Yoongi, you know how I feel about her." Jimin reiterated, but there was no point. Yoongi never listens. "I heard the way she snapped at you in the hallway earlier today for not meeting her right after your Music Theory class."
"Ah..." Yoongi scratched the back of his head and looked down. "She apologized later about that. I probably should've texted her about needing to use the restroom first" he laughed half-heartily at the scenario, but Jimin saw through it. Yoongi was always so quick to defend her, even if they both knew just how ridiculous it sounded.
Jimin crossed his arms over his chest in irritation. "Hyung, please. She could literally stab you and you would still find a reason to forgive her."
Yoongi chuckled at his friend's comical words. "Sera would never do that." Jimin just rolled his eyes.
"But you know what I mean, hyung. She's always pushing you around and you fucking let her! You need to grow a backbone." Jimin doesn't usually voice his opinions so strongly, but he's getting pretty tired of watching his friend unknowingly suffer. He's just so 'in love', as Yoongi always claims.
Yoongi's a little taken aback by Jimin's tone and choice of words, but he keeps trying to sway him anyway. "She really does love me, Jimin" he reasons. "She just gets so stressed out at times. She doesn't mean to take it out on-"
At this point, Jimin has heard enough. He is so sick of Yoongi justifying his girlfriend's actions. He's so aggravated that he can't help himself when he blurts out, "Yoongi, she's such a bitch!!"
They both sat silently in shock.
Jimin can't believe he actually just called her that in front of his friend. Sure, he thinks that she is indeed a bitch, but he would have never admitted that to Yoongi, knowing how upset it would make him.
The older slowly stood with clear frustration on his face. He was trying to stay calm. "Just- Fuck!" he ultimately shouted, causing more than a few heads to turn and look in their direction, considering they were still in the library. Yoongi sighed, trying to collect his thoughts, while looking down at Jimin., roughly scratching the back of his head.
"I get it, Jimin, that you don't like her. You have made that plenty clear since the beginning. But I really really like her, and I don't plan on losing her any time soon or EVER. So if you can't accept my relationship with her, then you need to stay the fuck away from us, from me" he finished, slinging his backpack over his shoulder, and stormed out, leaving Jimin in more shock than before.
Quickly, the tears started to build in Jimin's eyes.
He was instantly filled with a sense of regret. Even though he's sure the older didn't really mean it. Yoongi's words stung. He couldn't imagine a life without Yoongi. He had always been there, even through the worst of times. He was his best friend, his partner in crime.
'Would he really choose her over me?' he thought, silently letting the tears cover his full cheeks. He quickly tried to wipe the tears as students in the library stared.
He has always been so afraid of losing the older, so he has always kept a part of himself hidden. Yoongi would never accept it.
He doesn't know when the change first hit him. He's guessing around the eighth grade, around the time Yoongi told him he was bisexual, or maybe around the time he found out he was a carrier, but it's only ever grown since then. That's why he's never really approved of any of Yoongi's past relationships. That's why the thought of Yoongi being so serious about Sera terrifies him so much.
Because he's in love with his best friend.
