Chapter 32

(Um... My bad. Just finished this chapter. Hope it's alright. *sweat drop*)

When I awoke, Sebastian was sitting on the bed beside me, thumbing aimlessly through what appeared to be a book.

As I sat up, he smiled at me. "Good morning, My Love."

"Morning," I mumbled, rubbing my eyes. "What are you looking at?"

Upon closer inspection, what he was holding was not a book, but a stack of loose papers. He moved them closer so I could see. "Lisa wrote out some possible plans of action should your visions come true. I was looking over them while you slept so I would be able to explain them to you."

I nodded. "So?"

His smile fell slightly. "Well, first she believes it would be best for you to become our queen sooner rather than later, although I made sure she knew it was entirely your choice of when you want to move forward."

I smiled a little as he continued. "She said the less time this demon has to come up with the plans you've foreseen, the better. If we do not allow him the time to come up with the plan, then he hopefully won't be able to execute it. However, there is still the chance that this plan is something he'll think up in the moment, or he has already planned it and is simply biding his time with his smaller scale attempts to move things along."

I nodded.

"So, the when of it all is completely up to you. I will not let anyone forget that. The rest of this, however, is what she believes you should do when the time comes. And honestly I agree with most of it." He looked at me, reading my expression.

"If it's something you think I should do, Sebastian, I'll do it. I'll do anything to make this easier and make sure my visions don't come true."

His smile came back as he shuffled through a few of the pages. "Alright. While we don't know the full details of your coronation or how it will be planned out, clearly your friends are going to be a part of it and helping you prepare. If, like in your vision, they disappear, you are not to run after them. You will teleport yourself to either me or Lisa. That will be the safest place for you."

I nodded again.

"Should you be captured, again, you should try to teleport yourself. Bring them with you if you can. If for some reason you are unable to use your magic, you immediately call for me."

I stopped him. "But what about that dungeon? If I wake up down there, I can't call you. He told me it won't work."

He looked up from the papers, his expression hard to read. "We have yet to find a dungeon in or around the castle that matches the descriptions you've given us. I cannot even think of a reason I shouldn't be able to hear you, no matter where you are. Do not just take his word for it. You need to at least try."

I looked down at my hands. "And if it doesn't work?"

He placed one of his cold hands over mine. When I looked up, his eyes were sparkling. "I still found you, didn't I?"

I smiled. He had still been able to find me. The demons in my vision had then proceeded to kill him, but I'd ordered him not to die since then. They wouldn't be able to do so very easily now.

"And it will be quite a different sight from what your vision showed you. I will not be coming to find you alone. I will bring Lisa, Evan, and a few other guards along with me. We will overpower them and save you. Of this, I have no doubt."

I nodded, smiling. Sebastian's confidence seemed to overflow into me, and I knew in that moment that everything would turn out okay, even if it first had to become terrifying.

Sebastian placed down the stack of papers. "That's the majority of it. Any questions?"

I shook my head, feeling much better about the visions I'd had. We had a plan for if they were to come true. That was more than enough to set my mind at ease for the time being.

"Good," he said as he turned and stood. "Now, unfortunately, I must ask about the dreaded topic. What is your current attitude toward moving forward with this prophecy?"

I stared at him. "Are you trying to ask how I'm feeling about becoming queen?"

He frowned, nodding. "The others are all becoming a bit impatient, it seems."

"And by 'the others' you mean Lisa, right?"

"Lisa and several of the staff here, I'm afraid. They are also all worried about these attacks, and would like to have their queen."

I looked down at my hands. "Are you worried about them?"

He paused for a moment, then said, "Naturally. I have to be worried in order to protect you."

I shook my head. "This isn't right. You shouldn't have to be worrying about me so much anymore. I'm supposed to be able to defend myself. And yet I can't convince myself that I'm ready to move forward. I can't defend myself to the fullest because I don't have all of my powers." My hands tightened into fists. "I just want..."

I couldn't bring myself to finish. All I wanted was to be strong. To carry out my destiny and bring peace of mind to all of these people here. I wanted to be able to defend myself and ease Sebastian's worries. I'm a demon now. I shouldn't have to cower in fear. I didn't want to cry or hide anymore. I wanted to be strong.

Sebastian moved closer and covered my fists with his palms. "What is it, My Love? What do you want? I'll do anything to make it happen."

I looked up at him, smiling through tears I refused to let fall. "I want to be like you. I want to protect people." I took a deep breath. "I'm never going to be ready to move forward. I know I'm just going to have to do it, but..."

"Lisa and I have been keeping up with the royal duties while you prepare yourself. Once you have been crowned, she and I will still be here to walk you through anything you need help with. We have allowed you a great deal of time to mentally prepare yourself, but I'm afraid things may only get worse the longer you wait. I will not force anything upon you, My Love, I just want you to be aware of the consequences that come along with waiting."

I sighed, looking back down at our clasped hands, then returning my gaze to his. "I know. The attacks aren't going to stop until I'm too strong for them to risk fighting. Just give me a few more days. Please."

Sebastian's smile returned. "As you wish, My Love."
