Cata left Reiji's room in a bit more pain than she expected. She limped back to her room to put clothes on. She slipped a black and red stripped shirt with sleeves that only reached her elbows, over her silver bra. She also pulled black yoga pants on and stepped into her black converse. She threw her hair up into a side ponytail.

The cool night breeze felt good on Cata's burning face. She found Subaru angrily slashing at white roses with his silver knife just beyond the gazebo. She steeled her nerves and walked up to him.

"Subaru!" Cata called.

Subaru spun around to face her. He grit his teeth when he saw an angry Cata with her arms crossed.

"What do you want?" He growled.

"I can tell by your tone you know exactly why I'm here," Cata retorted.

Subaru flinched "Tch"

"You lied to me! You made me think it was all a dream! Why the hell would you do that?!"

Subaru sighed and slumped his shoulders, "Why is this so important to you?"

"Why do you think?" Cata's voice got quiet as she tried to hold back tears, "My life has gotten really weird ever since I got here. Why wouldn't I desperately cling to someone I can view as my protector, someone who will love me. And then you do this and make me lose any trust I had in you!"

Subaru raised his arm but Cata stopped him, "Don't, just don't."

Subaru ignored her and tried to wrap his arms around her.

"Get away from me, Subaru!" Cata screamed. She fled back to her room and slammed the door shut behind her. She threw herself down on the bed and screamed again.

Subaru opened the door and stood at the foot of Cata's bed.

"Leave me alone, Subaru," Cata groaned into her pillow.

"I'm thirsty," Subaru lied.

"Then go feed from Yui or some-" a sob broke Cata's words.

"No, you have no right to refuse me, I will only feed from you." Subaru insisted.

"Then just starve! I don't care what you do!" A pillow flew past the left side of Subaru's face.

Subaru stood there, stunned. He didn't care about the pillow, and he knew with 5 other girls he would not starve. But the fact that Cata said she didn't care about him anymore made him stop short. He felt an odd pain in his chest.

Cata continued to scream at him, but Subaru barely heard her. She got up and started shoving him out the door.

Subaru planted his feet and grabbed Cata. She beat on his chest and demanded to be let go. He let her wear herself out.

"Subaru please," Cata pleaded and weakly pounded on his chest one more time.

Subaru brushed her hair away from her neck.

Cata let out a sudden burst of energy, "Stop! Let go of me!" She kicked at Subaru's legs.

Cata flinched as Subaru's mouth neared her flesh, but instead of biting her, Subaru pressed his lips against Cata's skin and kissed her neck.

Cata gasped as his cold tongue touched her neck. She tried to draw away but Subaru wouldn't allow it. He started trailing gentle kisses up her neck.

"Subaru, I have to go take a shower," Cata insisted.

"That can wait," Subaru's voice was heavy with list. He picked Cata up wedding style a carried her over to the bed.

"Subaru, stop it, right now!" Cata wiggled so much that Subaru dropped her and she spilled onto the bed.

Subaru looked down at her, she looked small and defeated. Cata sat up and smacked Subaru.

He blinked and stepped back, "I-I'm sorry... I don't know what came over me.."

Cata carefully stood up, as if moving too fast would set Subaru off again. She grabbed a towel and some pajamas and went into the bathroom.

As Cata was washing her body, she felt something run down her leg. She groaned and rolled her eyes, "Of course..."

But it didn't explain last night. Cata ran her hands through her hair angrily.

When she finished her shower, Cata found Subaru laying on his back on her bed.

"Subaru, I need to go talk to Reiji..."

Subaru gave her a pained look but watched her go.

"Reiji!" Cata knocked on his door. Michiko answered. She looked Cata up and down with an annoyed expression.

"Where's Reiji?" Cata asked.

"Bathing," Michiko said dismissively, "come back later.

Cata realized Michiko was wearing nothing but a towel. She narrowed her eyes at the older girl, " Fine, I'll come back some other time."

Cata crossed her arms and walked away.

"How did you find out I was lying to you?" Subaru's voice came from Cata's bed.

"I went to Reiji," Cata explained, "I asked him if there was any way to tell... Something like that. He said there was. I had also felt pain the next time I woke up."

Subaru hung his head, "I'm sorry I lied to you."

"Then why did you do it?"

"I was scared. I felt like I barely knew you, but whenever I saw you I felt weird inside. It hurt me for some reason when you said you didn't care about me..."

Cata was taken aback by the raw emotion coming from Subaru.

"I was scared too... Once I thought it was a dream, I didn't know what to do. Like you said, we hardly know each other, but I didn't want to creep you out by telling you anything if it was just a dream."

As Cata spoke, Subaru walked over to her. She collapsed into his chest and started crying again. He caught her and held her closely.

Subaru could smell that the girl was in heat. It took all of his energy not to revert to primal urges. He focused on how much shorter she was than him, and the way her fragile mortal body shook from her sobs.

Subaru stroked Cata's hair and kissed the top of her head. Her hands clenched into fists filled with his shirt.

"Subaru, I'm tired," Cata mumbled.

"Alright," Subaru's voice was just above a whisper. He gently picked her up again and brought her into his room.

"Subaru?" Cata sounded concerned.

"You're fine, I promise," Subaru said.

Cata was half asleep before Subaru set her down. She curled up into his chest and fell asleep.
