Third Party POV
"What a beautiful view of the water!" Copter exclaimed as he drew back the curtains from his and Ohm's hotel window.
"Yes, indeed!" Ohm agreed as he stood behind Copter to admire the view of the North Sea.
Meanwhile, in the room across from theirs, Kimmon was having an argument with the hotel receptionist.
"But I wanted a room with a view of the North Sea," he complained.
"I'm awfully sorry, sir," the receptionist explained, "but all the other rooms with a view had been occupied before you booked your stay. I was informed that it had been made clear to you before you finalized the booking."
"I'm very disappointed," Kimmon grumbled.
"If a room with a view becomes available before the end of your stay, we will move you over to that room," the receptionist promised.
"I'm still disappointed," Kimmon insisted before putting the hotel room phone back into its cradle.
Kimmon knew however that the situation could not be helped. He turned around to his personal assistant Fluke who was busy hanging his clothes in the closet.
"Please help me to unpack," Kimmon said to Fluke. "I don't have the energy to do it. I was so looking forward to a room with a view of the sea because I love the water."
"Of course, sir," said Fluke walking towards Kimmon's suitcase.
While Fluke was taking care of Kimmon's stuff, Kimmon leafed through his papers that contained the speech he was going to make on the second day of the international conference of the pharmaceutical industry.
Suddenly there was an announcement on the hotel's intercom system.
All participants of the international pharmaceutical conference, please proceed to the Velvet Banquet Hall. The conference will start in fifteen minutes.
The announcement was repeated three times.
"On which day of the conference will you be making your speech, sir?" Fluke asked.
"On the second day, sir," Kimmon replied, emphasizing the word 'sir' as a rebuke to Fluke. He had been insisting to Fluke to just address him as Kim but Fluke kept forgetting.
Fluke gave Kimmon an apologetic smile.
Just as Fluke brought out the second pair of Kimmon's dress pants several shiny packets fell out of the suitcase.
Fluke picked them up from the floor and when he realized that they were condoms he quickly stuffed them back into Kimmon's suitcase.
"No need to blush."
Fluke gasped. He did not realize that Kimmon had been watching him.
"Those are samples of our company's newest products which I will present during my speech tomorrow," Kimmon explained. "Did you seriously think that I brought them along to use them during our stay here?"
"Of course not," Fluke denied heatedly, but the dark pink on his cheeks betrayed his declaration.
Kimmon looked at his watch.
"Let's head over to the Velvet Banquet Hall now," Kimmon said. "I don't wanna be late to the opening ceremonies of the conference."
"Of course," Fluke said, closing shut Kimmon's suitcase and setting it down outside the closet before following him out the door.
Fluke and Kimmon were ushered to their table by a pretty blonde hotel staff. Their names had been printed on those signs that could be propped up on the table.
"We meet again!" Ohm declared, his eyes on Fluke as Fluke and Kimmon joined him and Copter at their table.
"Hello again!" Kimmon greeted Ohm back, but his eyes were on Copter.
There were some light snacks on the table and a few assorted drinks to choose from.
Copter was trying to reach for a glass of cranberry juice.
"Here you go," Kimmon said handing Copter the glass.
"Thank you, sir," Copter smiled, his dimples showing.
"Kimmon," Kimmon corrected him. "Or better yet, just Kim."
"How are things going so far?" Ohm asked Kimmon.
"I had a bit of an argument with the receptionist earlier," Kimmon said, opening a mini pack of potato crisps.
"Why was that?" Ohm raised his eyebrow at Kimmon.
"I had so wanted a room with a view but the hotel put me in a room without one," Kimmon grumbled.
"You should see our room," Ohm said with a big grin. "It has such a beautiful view of the sea."
"What???" Kimmon said, frowning deeply. "There must be a mistake! Your room was probably the one that was meant to be mine."
Suddenly Ohm had an idea.
Before speaking he looked intently at Fluke, waiting to see Fluke's reaction.
"I wouldn't mind switching places with you. Just with you though. Fluke can remain where he is currently situated."
Copter gasped, staring wide eyed at Kimmon. If the switch happened, it could only mean one other thing. Oh, no!
