Exception

Yeosang is a merman. He gets trapped on a ship of pirates eager to sell his tail. He is soon saved by more pirates who at first wanted to do the same but seeing how he was treated on the other ship they kept him safe and helped him recuperate.

Yeosang flicked his gold and white tail as he moved throughout the schools of fish. He was greeted by other merpeople and he shyly greeted them back. Yeosang was known by all the merpeople in this town as they usually have received Yeosangs help.

Yeosang was very knowledgeable about pretty much anything so many turned to him for help and he gives them the help they need. He also freely teaches some of the pips in his free time.

So as he was swimming to his classroom he notices the merpeople staring in fear at the surface. He looked up and saw a ship. His face paled and he flicked his tail harder. Nets were released and he panicked. Many people did. All the pups were too slow to swim away so Yeosang took a deep breath and swam hard reaching the pups that are trapped in four seconds. He grabs them by the arms and pulls them out and swims them to deeper waters.

He returned to the surface to free an elderly mermaid and had others lead her to safety, he smiled in relief and turned to them only to have a net wrap around his tail. He cursed and pulled at the ropes but they were too tight. They made his tail bleed and he sobbed into the water. The other merpeople tried everything from sharp rocks to crabs but nothing could get through the thick ropes. He was knocked out as he saw one of the humans jump into the water scaring all the merpeople into hiding.

Yeosang dismissed their betrayal and smiled sadly before fully passing out.
The person who jumped in pulled him up  and fully wrapped the net around him for an easy lift. The snarl on his face as he saw the merman was horrendous.

Soon enough Yeosang was lifted onto the deck and the men all around them pulled at the ropes before tying him to the mast assuming he would survive.

How wrong they were. Waking up Yeosang felt a searing pain in his lower body as he gazed down he saw his tail being dehydrated and crispy. He flinched at the pain of a simple dip in the ships movement and tried to not cry.

He wasn't going to be able to magically get legs as all humans believe. His anatomy isn't the same as a siren. He would probably be fine for about six days before he really starts to die but that doesn't mean he won't be pained.

He bit his lip deeply to stop his sobs as the sun scorched his body. Red spots sprouted along his torso and face and his tail became a misty gold colour from being dehydrated.

He was tied against a mast from what he could see at the angle he was sat at.
He watched the pirates mope around on deck some sneering in his direction. He clenched his hands as best he could and tried to glare at them but the sun's glare made it hard to open his eyes.

His wounds along the bottom of his tail were infected. He winced at the sight before staring up into the sky panting as sweat riddled down his body.

He was slowly being cooked alive and he hated the feeling. He now knew how the lobsters felt when they were tied above a gyesor for their annual celebrations.

He coughed as his throat closed up and he licked his lips, mouth slowly turning off-dry. It was really hot and he really needed water. He closed his eyes and tried to sleep the day away. Maybe overnight a storm will brew allowing him to rehydrate. But he knew that was unlikely as he next storm wasn't until a month away.

He stayed there trying not to move as much as possible before he finally was able to sleep with the ache in his body. Once he awoke again it was midnight and dark. He breathed a sigh of relief as the pains had died down considerably. No water reached his fins but no sun scorched him.

He was ready to die because he couldn't bare the pain anymore. He shifted his practical dead tail only to wince as blood oozed out between his scales.

He whimpered and looked around for any form of water. Nothing. He finally let tears drip down his face and show weakness.
He was lost, no matter how he went about this he was going to die either by dehydration or being dissected.

He gazed at the see longingly seeing nothing but empty space until he turned to the right. He saw a ship in the distance approaching the vessel he was on. He hoped these people were better so he used his pearl accessories on his tail to signal to the ship. He didn't have much to loose anyway.

He watched as the ship altered their course slightly and were sailing towards the bow of the ship. Closer to where Yeosang was laying.

He smiled sadly and waited. Around about four am the ships finally meet.
The others from the approached ship jumped on the deck. A flashlight  was in the hands of the shortest one. The light swam across Yeosang a few times until it stopped on him. He heard multiple gasps and bowed his head.

"oh my god what happened?" said a tall bluenet asked and Yeosang looked at him. His facial features where sharp and his hair was pulled into two tights braids on one side of his head. He saw two other males walk around the mast and untie the ropes. His skin was bloodied and cracked but thanked them in his hoarse voice.

"no problem" the smaller male said as he grinned. His hair was black and he had an extremely good looking face almost challenging that of a mermaids.

The other one who did the roped had green hair with a few braids littered in it.
He had a sharp jawline but soft features.

The final four males also had unique features. The short one holding the torch had a brown mullet and a large fur coat.

The one next to him was slightly taller and had black hair, his body was strong and the muscles were visable in the clothing he was wearing.

A taller blonde stood besides the muscly male he had sharp features but a soft look in his eyes and a smile.

Finally the one who looks to be the tallest had a soft puppy like face which he has read in books from shipwrecks before they dissolved.

He finished his analysing and shifted awkwardly before speaking.
"erm as you can tell I was captured and tied to a mast but these pirates came into the bay I was working at and tried to take the kids and elderly so they can sell them. I'm sure it's for our tails or selling us off on a meat platter. I took their place trying to save them and couldn't escape in time." Yeosang explained the group nodded their heads before smirking.

" well how about you come with us? We'll kill these guys and take their stuff but we can't just leave you here so your best bet is to stay with us. "hongjoong said and yeosang thought it was fishy but he gulped and nodded.

" mingi, yunho if you please, be careful merpeople tails are very slipery" hongjoong spoke and the two nodded before picking him up only to gasp in disgust after feeling his crusty scales.

"cap, his tail Is completely dry." yunho said and hongjoongs smirk dropped.

"how the hell is he still alive?, get him on the ship and start giving him something to drink and pour it over his tail after treating the wounds. Mermen can't survive long without water and if he's completely dry as you said we can't exactly just throw him into the ocean. His tail will most likely make him drown." hongjoong said and the two nodded. Soon enough Yeosang was being carried towards the ship and placed onto a flat metal surface. He touched the cold surface with a giggle and didn't notice yunho cleaning his wounds.

After cleaning his wounds Yeosang was handed a cup of water which he downed in 0.2 seconds. After that the cup was refilled and yunho gently poured some water over his tail. Yeosang hissed at the burning as the scales drank up the water but instantly he felt his tail loosen.

After about sixty five cups of water his tail had been fully moistened and he was placed in a tank full of the water. Luckily all the adhesive and bandages were waterproof. This tank would make sure he stayed healthy for the most part.

Yeosang instantly sank to the bottom and fell asleep with a smile on his face.
Yunho and mingi watched the merman with confused expressions. It seemed everything they knew about the species was wrong for the most part and it greatly confused them.

'Aren't they supposed to be killing machines, sinking ships and devouring all that come in their path?' They thought to themselves but shrugged.
'We can ask Yeosang when he wakes up.'

So for the next three months as Yeosang was healed by yunho as they learned all about the differences between merpeople and sirens. They apologised for the many misconceptions they had been taught which Yeosang just dismissed.

He was well on his way to healing and was soon allowed to swim in the ocean. Yeosang gained this unnoticeable attachment to the crew that he wouldn't swim to far away. He always made sure to smile when the members saw him or visited him specifically.

He wasn't expecting to shimmy his way into the hearts of these seven men so to say he was surprised when hongjoong asked him to be apart of his crew would be an understatement.
Despite being overly excited he could help but question the reason.

But that was thrown out of the window as hongjoong explained his plans clearly and Yeosang became their unofficial navigator.

He truly loved the ending he got and thoroughly he'd love if everyone had a chance like this but sadly the truth is bound to hurt. That's what it was created for.
