Yena's POV

"Ok, you remember the dare?" I ask Chel as we chill in my room.

"Yes, steal a head from the temple and take it outside the city. Then return it without being caught" she states.

"Right, good luck and be careful. If you get spotted try to get back to me" I tell her. She nods her head and leaves. I go brush my hair before joining my family in the main room.

"What did Chel want?" mum asks me.

"Wanted to know if I wanted to hang out with her today. But I told her it's family day and we'll hang out tomorrow" I lie.

"Well, lets hope she doesn't cause any trouble today" dad says as he bounces my youngest brother. "The city just recovered from minor flooding from the storm. We don't need any trouble" he states.

"I'm sure she won't cause any" I assure him. If only, he knew. "So what are we doing today?" I ask as I sit beside the twins.

"Well your father has the day off today and we thought we'd stay home" mum tells me.

"Boring" the twins say.

"Yeah, lets go swimming" my oldest brother says.

"Now children, two of you are sleeping" dad reminds us.

"We'll go out when they wake" mum states. "For now, how about a story?" she suggests.

"What about the one about you and dad?" I ask. The boys groan. While our parents chuckle.

"How about your father's first year as chief?" mum suggest. We all agree. Dad starts to tell the story of his first year.

(time skip)

Dad has just told us about the time he tried to eat an entire banquet by himself. We're all giggling, having a grand old time. When a guard appears and whispers something in my father's ear. His eye's widen and he handed my baby brother to my oldest brother.

"Come Yena, we'll be back shortly my love" he tells mum and I. I then leave with him. We go stand by Tzekel-Kan as the guards appear with two outsiders on a horse. They look like the gods from the temple walls.

"Behold! As the prophesies foretold, the time of judgement is now!" Tzekel-Kan declares. So these are the gods? "Citizens, did I not predict that the gods would come to us?" he asks us. He chuckles. "My lords, I am Tzekel-Kan, your devoted high priest and speaker for the gods" he tells the men. They appear to be in their mid twenties.

"Hey" the dark haired ma says.

"I am Chief Tannabok, my daughter Yena. What names may we call you?" dad asks the gods.

""Huh? I am Miguel" the blonde says. Am I only one who finds him cute?

"And I am Tulio" the dark haired one says dismounting the horse. Miguel follows suit.But his foot gets tangled in the reins.

"And they call us Miguel and Tulio" Miguel declares. I approach them.

"Allow me, my lord" I say with a smile. I untangle his foot. He gives me a nod in thanks as I return to my father's side.

"Your arrival has been greatly anticipated" Tzekel-Kan tells them.

"My lords, how long will you be staying in El Dorado?" father asks them. Suddenly Chel appears from behind the horse. Tzekel-Kan grabs her and pulls her to stand in front of the gods. Taking the golden head from her.

"I see you've captured this temple-robbing thief. [takes Chel] How would you have us punish her?" he asks the gods.

"Oh, no, no, no, no, no! My lord, I am not a thief. See, the gods sent me vision to bring them tribute from the temple to guide them here. My only wish is to serve the gods" Chel states.

"It's true, she told me this morning when she visited me" I say backing her. Chel and I look at the gods pleadingly. I can't lose my best friend.

"Release her, don't ya think?" Tulio tells Tzekel-Kan. Who lets her go and thrusts the golden head into her arms.

"Then you will begin by returning this to its rightful place" he tells her. Pushing her towards the temple. I look at my father and he nods his head giving me permission to go with Chel. I follow her to the temple.

"Are you ok?" I ask her concerned.

"Yeah, I'll be fine" she assures me. "But I guess I failed the dare, I was caught" she says disappointingly.

"Guess that means I won" I say smugly. "Do you really think they're gods?" I ask her.

"Don't know, want to find out?" she asks me with a smirk.

"Sure" I say with a smile. We reached the temple. We go to the second room and wait out of view for the gods to arrive. "Bet their not gods" I tell her.

"If they aren't, maybe they'll take us with them when they leave. We could finally explore the world" she states.

"Maybe" I say. "Miguel is cute" I tell her.

"Really? I think Tulio is better looking" she tells me.

"You're just saying that because he saved you from Tzekel-Kan" I state. "But at least, we won't be competing for the same guy" I add. She nods her head in agreement. We hear the gods arrive with my father and Tzekel-Kan. We wait in silence.
