Chapter 17

Darkness once again clouded Kanan's vision as he felt himself free falling through who knows what. He sumersaulted for a few seconds, then fell flat on his face. Why- nevermind. Not gonna question it.
Hands from both sides gripped Kanan and pulled him up to his feet. "Kanan! What happened?", Hera asked. Kanan could tell she was forcing her voice to sound calm and steady, but trembling excitement had managed to slip out.
Kanan straightened his posture. "Ezra's alright! He was beginning to fall toward the darkside but he's going to be fine now!"
"Then let's not waste any time getting him out of there!", Ahsoka exclaimed.
"Everyone's already outside!", Lux called out. "We have to hurry. Who knows if they know we're here!"
Ahsoka helped Hera guide Kanan to his seat. "You two stay here", Ahsoka ordered. "If you need anything Zeb and Sabine will be here. Ganobi is in the cockpit".
She rushed out of the room before Kanan or Hera could protest.

"Put me down!", Ezra yelled, beating his fists on the Eighth Brother's back. After making his stand against the Eighth Brother, he had taken off running down the hall toward the elevator. But the Eighth Brother caught him before he even made it to the door, and was now carrying him over his shoulder up to the roof where his ship was ready for take off.
"If you won't come willingly", the Eighth Brother hissed "than I'll just have to take you by force!"
Ezra twisted his body and tried to push himself out of the inquisitor's arm. "You won't make it! My family is on their way to get me!"
"What about the rebellion?", the Eighth Brother sneered. "You're 'family' is with them, remember?"
"They wouldn't do that!", Ezra retorted. "They wouldn't be with the rebellion if it meant endangering one of the crew!"
The Eighth Brother held back the urge to bash Ezra against the wall. He was just starting to trust me, and his dead master has to come and ruin my progress!
His master is dead; Caleb Dume and his little merry band of imbecile rebels are all dead! I made sure of that! There's no way they could have survived the attack!
I'll just have to remind him of the truth about his 'family'. That should put him back in his place.

The group ran down the hall toward the elevator. "What cell is he in?", Ahsoka asked.
Lux glanced at the small screen on his wrist. "He should be in cell 150, which is on the floor above us!"
"Then let's hurry!", Petro exclaimed.
They all piled into the elevator and pushed the button for the floor.

"Kanan, what's wrong?", Hera asked, noticing that his eyebrows were now furrowed.
"Something's not right", he answered slowly, his hands on his head. "Something's wrong. I feel like-"
Kanan suddenly shot up. "We have to go in! Now!"
"Why what's wrong?", Zeb asked, jumping up from his seat.
"It's a trap! They knew we were coming since we entered the planet's atmosphere!"
"Which means they must have already moved Ezra!", Sabine cried out. "We've got to go in and warn them!"
"But how?", Zeb asked, leaning on his bow rifle. "We're still healing from our wounds from our last battle!"
Hera stood up and ran for the cockpit. "I have an idea!"

"Katooni! Katooni, do you read me?", Ganobi's voice asked through Katooni's com.
"I read you. What's up?"
"Go straight for the roof! The entire building is filled with troopers waiting for you guys to step out on any of the floors!"
"What! Are you sure?"
"Positive. The boy is being taken to the roof we'll meet you up there!"
Katooni turned off the com. "Push the button for the roof!", she ordered.
But before anyone could the doors opened, revealing rows upon rows of stormtroopers.
"Push the button! Push the button!", Katooni screamed. She would have done it herself but she was on the other side of the elevator. The person closest to the button was Petro.
Petro snapped out of his shock and began pushing the button furiously. "Shoot them!", one of the troopers ordered.
"Why isn't it shutting?!?!", Zatt asked.
"I don't know!", Petro yelled back. "It must be jammed or something! "
"Well unjam it!", Katooni snapped.
"I'm trying!"
Ahsoka ignited her lightsaber and began deflecting the shots. Lux pulled out his twin pistols and fired back while Zatt tried his best to force the clones back. But nothing seemed to be working. The troopers just kept coming.
No progress was being made what so ever.
Then a miracle happened. Gungi and Byph pushed their way to the front of the group and forced them shut with the force.
Everything was quiet. The elevator slowly continued it's way up to the roof. Gungi gave a few quiet grunts. "Yeah. We probably should have thought of that before", Petro mumbled.

The Eighth Brother stepped out of the elevator and onto the rooftop. "I don't like repeating myself, young Bridger", he grumbled. "Kanan Jarrus and everyone from that group is dead! You saw them die yourself".
"It's useless!", Ezra retorted, still thrashing and hitting the Eighth Brother. "You can't convince me! I know they're coming! And you're going to get your sorry butt whipped by them for what you did to us!"
Before the Eighth Brother could make a comeback the elevator across from them opened. "Ah, Seven and Five! I was beginning to think you weren't coming".
"And disobey Lord Vader's orders? Not a chance", the Seventh Sister replied, placing her hands on her hips.
Ezra quivered when he heard her voice. "Why are they here?", he asked, trying his best to conceal his worry.
"They're escorting us to our destination", the Eighth Brother answered simply. "Just in case any survivors decide to get a death wish and come trailing us. You understand, I'm sure young Bridger".
Ezra began thrashing harder. "I thought you said he trusted you", the Seventh Sister questioned, obviously irritated.
"He was. Until his dead master decided to butt in and mess up everything".
"We're wasting time", the Fifth Brother sneered. "Lord Vader wants us to arrive to the Death Star before the night is out".
"Very well", the Eighth Brother sighed. "Let's get moving then".
The trio walked toward the ship. With each step Ezra's heart sank lower with doubt. Maybe they aren't coming. Maybe it really just was my imagination. Maybe-
"Get your hands off him!", an all too familiar voice yelled from above them.
Ezra looked up and gasped.
All three inquisitors looked up and went pale.
Jumping down from the hatch of a small shuttle and landing in front of them was Kanan Jarrus, alive and well. And behind him stood Garazeb Orrelios, Sabine Wren, Chopper, and a female rodian jedi; weapons drawn and and ready for battle.
The fight was on.
