Prologue

Kanan laid back into his bed, sighing tiredly. Today had been a very, very long day. They did another crate raid, one that nearly cost them their lives; they almost lost Sabine and several others. I know these missions are dangerous, Kanan thought to himself. But this....this is a whole new level for us.
Kanan pulled his blanket up closer to himself. It's been two years now. Two years to this day. Man, have we been through a lot. Coming here was a big adjustment. But breaking apart from the rebellion has been an even bigger adjustment; having to get use to not relying on the rebellion for our needs.
But at least we've all been healing.
Ezra's become such a strong padawan; he's almost more powerful than me. I can't help but feel like it's almost time to-
"Knight him?", a voice finished for him.
Kanan sat up. He knew that voice anywhere. "It's been a long time", Kanan answered, sitting up in his bunk. "I wish I could see you. See if you've changed with Ezra."
The familiar voice of Ezra's conscience chuckled. "I have, in some ways. I've grown as tall as him, kept his hair style, and have his scars. But I still glow, and I will always be ahead of him when it comes to the knowledge of the force."
Now it was Kanan's turn to chuckle. "Now I wish I could see you."
"In due time", the conscience answered. "But not now."
"Why didn't you pull me into a vision? I'd be able to see you then."
"I didn't have time to pick an appropriate location." He paused. "Unfortunately, I haven't come to chat. This is an emergency, and we need your help."
Kanan raised an eyebrow. "We? You mean the jedi of old?"
  "Yes. It concerns Ezra."
Kanan quietly gulped. "I've tried to teach him everything I know. His mind is just becoming too fast for me to keep up."
"Oh no!", the conscience exclaimed. "It's not that. We are actually proud of how you've trained him these past two years." Kanan sensed him move from being in front of him to sitting right next to him. "Well then what is it?", he asked.
"The Eighth Brother is still on the lookout for Ezra", the conscience began. "He is bent on getting him back and killing the Ghost Crew."
Kanan shrugged. "Well, we're pretty hard to get rid of", he said, chuckling.
  "Kanan, this is serious."
"Alright, alright. I'm sorry. Please, continue."
The conscience sighed. "It has recently come to our attention that Ezra is not alone."
Kanan, though he couldn't see, had to blink a few times. "What do you mean 'not alone'?"
"There are two other force sensitives in the galaxy just like him. They bear the yellow eyes, but are not siths."
"What?", Kanan exclaimed. "You mean there are more people that are born with sith eyes?"
  "Just two of them."
Kanan had to lay back on his bed. "Wha....How is this possible? Are they related to Ezra?"
"No. But they come from another family name just as great as the Bridger's."
This....this was a lot to take in. More people like Ezra. And just one Ezra could be a handful. "Does the Empire know about them?", Kanan asked.
"No. But it won't take long for them to find out. And that's why I need your crew to find them. And soon."
"Wait, why us? Is it because we have experience with Ezra?"
"Ezra's the only one of his kind who's learned to accept his genetics and know they don't define him", the conscience explained. "These other two have no idea of their capability and strength. Well, as far as we know."
Kanan raised an eyebrow. "As far as you know?"
"Like I said, we've only just discovered them recently. We have no idea of how much they know about themselves."
"How do you just discover something that's alive? You're part of the force. How did you not see their consciences?"
"Because", Kanan heard him answer in a surprisingly angry tone, "it wasn't until yesterday that their consciences decided to tap into the force themselves. And that only lasted a good few seconds."
"Okay, okay!", Kanan said quickly. "Just calm down." Kanan heard the boy sigh. "I'm sorry", he said. "It's just....not knowing about them till yesterday was a shocker for all of us. We spent so long looking through all of time and history just to get the answers we were looking for."
  "What answers?", Kanan asked slowly.
"Who they were, where they came from, and where they are." He sighed again, this time sounding a bit more weary. "It was too stressful for us to bear."
Taking on two more crew members, force sensitive ones at that, isn't going to be easy. The Ghost Crew might be all for it. But will Lux agree to it? I'm sure he will. But I can't just say he will without asking.
"I'll see what my crew can do", Kanan answered. "I can't promise any good results, but we'll do our best."
"Thank you", the conscience answered, almost happily. "It won't be easy, but I know you will all manage. We all do."
Kanan nodded and smiled. "As long as it's helping somebody, we'll get through it. By the way, where are they?"
He heard the conscience chuckle. "Again, I cannot reveal their location."
Kanan rolled his eyes. "Oh great", he replied sarcastically. "Looks like I'll have to trust the force again for this one."
"Actually, you will not be the one to find them."
  "Wait, seriously? Why not?"
"You're already a master at the force. This will be a way for someone else to dive even deeper into the force."
Kanan cocked his head slightly. "Who is it?"
He felt the boy's sturdy hand give his a gentle squeeze as he whispered, "Ezra."
  Then he was gone.
