"DEKHA JIJI, YE BANGALAN KAISEY AAPKEY DEV KO AAP SE CHEEN NA CHAHTI HAI"

As soon as Ishwari heard Radharani the fear that was gnawing her heart increased, she had woken up from her sleep and had headed towards Dev's room along with Radharani to check on his health when they had stopped at the door of Dev's room as they heard them talk. Though all these days there was fear in her heart yet for the happiness of her son she had tried to hide it but then the events of the past two days increased her fears, firstly Dev's accident, then the scene at the hospital coupled with Asha calling him family and the scene that had unfolded now amplified her insecurities about her son by leaps and bounds, she felt as if Dev was going away from her, it was as if her anchor for the last 20 years was being snatched away and she could do nothing about it. She turned to leave for her room as Radharani continued her rant.

"Jiji, Main bol rahi hoon aapko. Humarey Dev par iss Bangalan ka galat asar pad raha hai. Abhi bhi kuch bigda nahi hai Jiji, kuch bhi galat ho uss sey pehley aap issey rok sakti hai" she said as Ishwari kept walking, at that moment nothing was getting registered in her mind.

"Jiji, aap sunn rahi hai main kya keh rahi hoon?" she asked seeing no reaction from Ishwari, the next moment Ishwari turned sharply towards her and said "Bhabhi, Mujhey kuch der akele rehna hai" as Radharani replied "Par Ji..." but before she could continue Ishwari had stormed off towards her room leaving a sulking Radharani behind who muttered to herself "Koi baat nahi Jiji, aaj nahi toh kal main aapkey mann main itna darr bitha doongi ki aap khud uss Bangalan ko iss ghar se nikal dengi" as she went to her room.

After some time Sonakshi came down, Dev had slept because of the medicines. Sonakshi went to the kitchen to cut some fresh fruits and prepare juice for Ishwari. Once she prepared those she went to Ishwari's room. She slowly opened the door to see Ishwari with closed eyes leaning her head against the headrest. Keeping the plate of juice and fruits on the table she went towards Ishwari.

"Auntyji" she slowly called out hoping not to startle her out of the sleep but there was no response from Ishwari, touching her shoulder Sonakshi again called her out "Auntyji", "Huh" said Ishwari as she jerked out of her sleep and looked sideways to find Sonakshi looking at her with a small smile playing on her lips.

"Sonakshi" said Ishwari as Sonakshi replied "Auntyji, I am sorry. Wo aapkey fruits aur medicines ka samay ho gaya hai" she said picking the fruit plate from the table and forwarded it to Ishwari.

"Mera mann nahi hai Sonakshi, leke jao ye yahan se" she said harshly as it caught Sonakshi by surprise but regaining her composure she said, "Par Auntyji..." but was cut off by Ishwari.

"Mainey Kaha na Sonakshi le jao isey yahan se" she said again but Sonakshi did not back down, she was her nutritionist first and then Dev's love, she replied "Theek hai Auntyji, Agar aapko abhi nahi khana hai toh theek hai. Par main issey yahin rakh rahi hoon, aap ka jab mann hoga kha lijiyega" she said and left as Ishwari frowned.

After some time, it was time for Sonakshi to leave for home, she went to Dev's room to bid him a goodbye but he was sleeping, she did not want to wake him up but knowing that he would be unhappy if she left without talking to him she slowly woke him up. As soon as he got up he pulled Sonakshi towards him and pecked her lips making her blush. She then informed Dev about Auntyji's refusal which irritated him, assuring her that he will make her have the fruits and medicines he got up from his bed and with Sonakshi's help limped down to Ishwari's room.

As soon as Ishwari saw Dev she was shocked "Dev, Tu yahan kar raha hai aisi haalat main" she said worriedly as Dev replied "Aur tu jo kar rahi hai wo theek hai?" he asked leaving Ishwari perplexed as to what he was alluding to, she saw Dev looking at the table where the fruits were kept as it dawned to her what Dev was saying. She looked at Sonakshi in irritation as she knew she would have informed Dev about it.

"Kitni baar tujhey kaha hai ki apni sehat ka khayal rakh lekin tu kisi ki baat sunti hi nahi" he said getting annoyed as Ishwari replied "Dev, Tu pehle baith. Tab se khada hai. Pair main dard ho raha hoga" she said but Dev would have none of it, he forcefully made Ishwari have the fruits and the medicines.

"Ekdam Bachon ki tarah hai tu, kisi ki bhi sunti hi nahi" he said as Ishwari smiled ruffling his hair, all this while Sonakshi was standing with a smile on her face watching quietly, letting the mother-son duo to deal with each other. After a few moments she bid them for the night and left for her home.

A few days had passed, Dev was slowly recovering from his injuries and wanted to rejoin the office as a lot of work was pending but Ishwari did not listen to any of his words and strictly forbade him from doing any work. Seeing no other way, he requested her to allow him to at least work from home which she agreed to after a lot of persuasion.

While in all these days Sonakshi and Dev spent time with each other, but her relationship with Ishwari had come to a standstill, their talk was limited to her diet and medicines. Sonakshi was feeling restless due to this, she had hoped to get back the friendly relation which they shared before her relationship with Dev was revealed. But she did not tell anything to Dev as he was already weak and she did not want him to take stress. She felt that once Dev completely recovers then they would talk to Ishwari.

It was a Sunday and Dev was sitting on the table situated in the garden inside their house working on his laptop when he felt thirsty, seeing no one around he got up and slowly walked to the kitchen when he heard his mother speaking with Mamiji.

"Jiji, Aap Dev se baat karkey uss Bangalan ki kundli mangaiye na" she said as Ishwari replied.

"Nahi Bhabhi, Dev inn sab baton main nahi maanta. Aur agar hum usey ye bolenge to woh bohot gussa hoga" she said denying Radharani.

"Toh phir kya aap apney Bachey ke jaan ko khatrey main dalengi Jiji? Pata hai main ney panditji ko Dev ki kundli dikhayi thi aur unka kehna ye tha ki Dev parr koi bura saaya hai jiski wajah se uskey zindagi main musibatein aa rahi hai" she said and paused waiting to see the effect of her words on Ishwari. One look at her expression and she knew that her words were having the desired effect on Ishwari. All this while Dev was seething with anger.

She continued "Aur dekhiye naa Jiji jab se wo Bangalan Dev ki zindagi ka hissa bani hai tab se hi musibatein aa rahi hai. Pehley aap ki tabiyat kharab hui, phir Dev ka accident" she said but before she could continue someone shouted at her.

"Mamiji, Aapki himmat kaisey hui Sonakshi ke baarey main aisa kehney ki. Aap badi hai iska matlab ye nahi ki aap kuch bhi bolengi" he said sonorously as Radharani gulped in fear seeing Dev's anger.

"Dev, ye kya tareeka hai badon se baat karne ka, Maafi mango Jiji se" she said as Dev replied.

"Main maafi kyun maangoo Maa, Tujhey pata hai ki main inn sab main vishwas nahi karta phir tu kyun inn sab cheezon main padh rahi hai?" he asked

"Hum teri bhalai ke liye ye sab kar rahe hai beta" Ishwari replied

"Kaisi bhalai Maa, humarey saath huey haadso ke Sonakshi ko dosh deke. Arey tuney kya ye nahi dekha ki usney hum dono ke liye kya kuch nahi kiya.  Aap log uskey baarey main aisa soch bhi kaisey saktey hai?" he asked as Radharani replied.

"Dev beta..." but she was cut off by someone before that "Bas, Radharani Aur ek shabd nahi, Chal yahan se" said the person who was none other than Mamaji, he had heard the commotion and came to kitchen to enquire the matter and as he heard the trio he understood who the culprit was. He at once held Mamiji's hand and dragged her out of the kitchen while she kept protesting.

"Dev, ye koi tareeka hua. Mami hai wo tumhari" said Ishwari in anger as Dev replied.

"Maa, lekin wo galat hai. Wo Sonakshi ko kaisey dosh de sakti hai" he asked as Ishwari quickly replied "Lekin beta, wo ye sab teri bhalai ke liye kar rahi hai" she said as Dev was taken aback, even her mother believed in what Mamiji said, his heart pricked at once as he asked.

"Maa, sach sach bata kya tu mere aur Sonakshi ke rishtey se khush nahi hai?" he asked as the color drained off Ishwari's face which Dev did not miss, he at once knew the answer. It was the same expression which he had seen the day before his accident.

"Tu aisa kyun bol raha hai Dev?, teri Khushi main meri Khushi hai" she said and there it was out in the open before Dev, his mother was agreeing to their relationship only because he was happy with it, she had not whole heartedly accepted Sonakshi, tears were threatening to burst out of his eyes but he controlled it.

"Maa, Agar tu iss rishtey se khush nahi hai toh bata de. Main teri khusiyon ka gala dabakey apni khusiyan nahi paa sakta" he said and paused as he looked at her and continued "Lekin ek aur baat Maa, Sonakshi meri zindagi ka ek ahem hissa hai aur Tu bhi. Mujhey aisey paristhiti main matt daal jahan mujhey tum dono main se kisi ek ko chun na padey, main seh nahi paunga aur nahi Sonakshi seh payegi" he said and walked out as Ishwari was left flabbergasted, her fear had come true, she had lost her son to Sonakshi, little did she know that he was not an object to lose.

On the other hand, tears burst out of Dev's eyes as soon as he entered his room. He held his head between his hands as he sat on the bed, he could not believe that his mother would believe in such hogwash especially knowing the kind of person Sonakshi was, he pondered over the way forward as he took out his phone and dialed a number.

It was a chilly winter evening. Dev and Sonakshi were sitting at their favorite café with their favorite coffee, after his altercation with Ishwari and Mamiji he had called up Sonakshi and apprised her about the whole situation. Sonakshi at first was shocked to hear him but then regaining her composure she asked him the way ahead as Dev asked her to meet him in an hour which she agreed to.

While on one hand Dev was trying to find the way ahead so that his mother accepted his relationship with Sonakshi. On the other hand, Sonakshi's hope was slowly diminishing, all these days she stood strong with Dev so that he does not fall weak and loose hope but after listening to him on the call she was distressed but what perplexed her that even after all this Dev's mother had never explicitly said that she was uncomfortable or unhappy with their relationship, it was always Dev who felt that his mother had issues with it and hence was always disturbed, she needed an answer from Dev and also knew that they needed to take a decision regarding their relationship.

Dev was waiting for the past 10 mins. when Sonakshi arrived, he pulled the chair for her as she sat, both kept quite unable to understand how to start the conversation while in the background the song played.

Hum rahon ki dooriyan,
Fanah ho sabhi dooriyan}

"Kahan se shuru karoon kuch samajh main nahi aa raha" said Dev after five minutes, he did not rather could not meet his eyes with Sonakshi.

"Jab kissa hi khatam ho raha hai toh baat karkey kya faayda" replied Sonakshi, her eyes lowered and her voice sounding defeated as Dev looked at her in surprise, he at once knew the turmoil she was going through, all these days she stood strong with him, trying to give him strength but right now it seemed as if she had given up.

"Sonakshi Aat saal ka tha main jab mainey papa ko khoya tha. Aur aaj jab bhi Maa apna haath mere sarr pe pherti hai toh unkey haaton ka khurdurapan dekh ke mere rongtey khadey ho jaatey hai" he paused and after a few moments continued "Meri Maa ne mere liye bohot kuch saha hai Sonakshi" he finished as Sonakshi replied.

"Aur tumhey lagta hai ki tumhari Maa ko humarey iss rishtey se problem hai? Kya unhoney tumsey aisa kaha?" she asked looking as Dev who replied with a sad smile.

"Wo kehti nahi hai, parr main samajh jaata hoon" he said as Sonakshi got up picking her bag up while Dev was surprised, he was about to say something but Sonakshi beat him to that and spoke.

"Toh phir theek hai, main bhi kuch nahi bolti. Tum samajh Jana" she said in a low tone and was about to leave when she heard Dev say.

"SONAKSHI, KYA TUM MUJHEY 2 MAHINEY KA TIME DE SAKTI HO?" as the song played in the background
