"MAIN TERE AUR SONAKSHI KE RISHTEY KE BAAREY MAIN BAAT KARNA CHAHTI THI" said Ishwari. As soon as Dev heard that his eyes widened in surprise, for a moment he thought that he had not heard it right as he asked "Kya, kya kaha tuney Maa?" he asked, confusion clearly etched in his voice as Ishwari spoke again "Main tere aur Sonakshi ke rishtey ke baarey main baat karna chahti hoon Dev" she said as it dawned on to Dev his mother was indeed talking about his relationship with Sonakshi.

"Kya baat karni hai tujhey Maa?" he asked hoping that this talk with his mother would help him take his relationship with Sonakshi forward. Ishwari was closely observing her son, somewhere she could understand that her son was still sceptical about speaking to her about his relationship Sonakshi, and she knew she had given him no reason to speak openly about it.

As Dev waited for his mother to speak Ishwari spoke "Sonakshi ne yahan kaam karna kyun chodda Dev?" she asked as Dev was left tongue-tied, somehow his mother was able to connect that Sonakshi leaving her job at Ishwari Niwas was directly related to his relationship with her. He kept quiet for he was not sure how to reply to her question. On one hand he wanted to answer her truthfully but then he was worried that the truth might hurt her.

Ishwari at once could understand the dilemma Dev was in as she observed his silence, she knew he was hesitating as a pang of sadness gnawed her heart. Why or rather how did they reach a point where they were not open or transparent with each other, why did the change happen? Was it because of Sonakshi or was it because of her insecurities or was it because of her son whom she felt was going away from her ever since Sonakshi came into their lives, she thought.

Seeing Dev quiet Ishwari spoke again "Bata naa Dev, Sonakshi ne yahan kaam karna kyun chodda?" she asked as Dev took a deep breathe, he needed to tell her the truth how much ever it might hurt her.

"Kyunki tujhey uska yahan kaam karna pasand nahi tha Maa" he said as Ishwari's heart pricked in agony, she had never expected life will throw her in such a situation where her son would hide things from her. But then could she blame him alone for even she was not truthful with him he had asked her about his relationship with Sonakshi.

"Lekin tujhey aisa kyun laga Dev? Tujhey aisa kyun laga ki main Sonakshi ke yahan kaam karney se naa khush hoon?" she asked as Dev replied "Tu bata Maa, kya sach main uskey yahan kaam karney se khush thi? Jab tujhey pata chala ki hum dono ek doosrey se pyar kartey hai kya tu khush thi Maa?" he asked leaving her tongue-tied, she knew could not hide it anymore from her son, now that she had decided to speak both needed to be transparent and truthful with each other.

Seeing his mother quiet Dev continued "Jab tu hospital main thi tab mujhey Doctor ne bataya tha ki teri tabiyat sirf galti se zyada neend ki goliyan khaney ki wajah se nahi balki koi pareshani hai jo tujhey andar se khaye jaa rahi aur phir Mamaji ne bhi mujhey bataya ki tu mere aur Sonakshi ke rishtey se khush nahi hai" he said as Ishwari was left speechless, her son knew about her unacceptance of his relationship.

Ishwari sat quietly as Dev said "Bata naa Maa, tu khush kyun nahi hai mere aur Sonakshi ke rishtey se? Wo toh teri acchi dost ban gayi thi, tujhey yaad hai kaisey Neha ki shaadi main usney kaisey usey manaya tha jab ki hum main se koi bhi usey samjha nahi paya" he said reminding her about the relationship she shared with her nutritionist as Dev continued "Toh phir achanak aisa kya hua ki tu usey apna nahi paa rahi hai Maa, mujhey bata Maa aisi kya baat hai ki tu humarey rishtey ko apna nahi paa rahi hai?" he asked as Ishwari was left tongue-tied, her son's questions were valid but was she ready to face them yet? Probably not.

After a few moments Ishwari spoke "Mujhey pata nahi Dev, ek ajeeb sa darr baith gaya hai mere mann main. Aisey lagta hai...Aisa lagta hai jaisey tu mujh se door jaa raha hai. Lagta hai jaisey teri zindagi main meri ahmiyat khatam ho rahi hai, jaisey ki tujhey meri zaroorat nahi hai" she confessed as slight tears made way from her eyes while Dev was surprised as well as shocked to hear her mother's fear.

Moving beside her and taking her hand into hers he spoke "Maa, tujhey aisa kyun lagta hai? Mera aaj jo bhi astitva hai wo teri wajah se hai Maa. Aur ye baat tu bhi aachi tarah jaanti hai. Mujhey ek baat bata Maa kya main ney aaj tak kabhi bhi koi bhi aisi baat ki ya phir kabhi bhi tujhey ye ehsaas dilaya ki teri zaroorat meri zindagi main nahi hai? Kya main ney kabhi aisa kuch kaha jiss sey tujhey ye laga ki main tujh sey door jaa raha hoon?" he asked wanting to know whether his words had hurt his mother and forced her into thinking as such.

"Nahi Dev, aisi baat nahi hai beta" said Ishwari but Dev insisted "Nahi Maa koi toh baat hai jiski wajah se tu aisa soch rahi hai, mujhey bata Maa. Please bata mujhey" he pleaded with her as it seemed to snap something in Ishwari as she got up, moving away from her she spoke as Dev kept looking at her.

"Mera beta jo kabhi kisi bhi pooja main nahi baitha kyunki wo bhagwan pe vishwas nahi karta, jab wo Sonakshi ke kehne par pooja main baithey toh main kya samjhu Dev? Jo beta mere janam din par mujhey sari dilaney ke bahaney mere saath waqt bitata tha jab wo Sonakshi ke saath milkar mere liye Sari le aaya toh main kya samjhu Dev? Jo beta mere haat ka halwa khatey nahi thakta jab wo wahi khaney se mana kar de toh main kya samjhu Dev? Aur sabse badi baat mera beta, jo mujhsey kabhi kuch bhi nahi chupata jab wo apni zindagi itna bada sach ki wo kisi se pyar karta hai, jab usney mujhsey ye baat chupayi toh main kya samjhu Dev? Bata Dev main kya samjhu?" she asked looking at him accusingly as Dev sighed sadly, his mother had misunderstood everything, and it was important for him to remove those. Now he could start making sense as to why she was fearing Sonakshi's presence in their lives.

Dev held Ishwari and made her sit on the bed, he took the glass of water and made her drink it as he spoke "Maa tu galat samajh rahi hai. Haan main baitha tha pooja main Sonakshi ke kehney pe, lekin iss liye nahi ki uskey kehney pe main bhagwan pe vishwas karney laga balki iss liye kyunki usney mujhsey kaha ki mere baithney se tujhey Khushi hogi" he said as Ishwari looked at him in surprise as he continued "Haan, main maanta hoon ki mainey Sonakshi ke saath milkar tere liye sari kharidi lekin iss liye nahi ki mai tere saath waqt bitana nahi chahta tha balki iss liye kyunki mujhey laga ki main tujhey surprise doon" he said as once again Ishwari was left tongue-tied, she had inferred each of the situations wrongly.

"Tuney ye toh dekha ki main ne tere haat ka halwa nahi khaya lekin ye nahi dekha ki main khud ko rok nahi paya. Aur rahi baat Sonakshi aur mere rishtey ko chupaney ki toh main apney aap ko aur Sonakshi ko kuch samay dena chahta tha Maa ki hum ek doosrey ko acchi tarah samajh sakey, jaan sakey. Main ne jaan bhujkar humara rishta nahi chupaya tha Maa" he finished as words failed Ishwari, all her thoughts about her son ignoring her were diminishing.

After a few moments Ishwari spoke "Ek baat bata Dev, agar main tere aur Sonakshi ke rishtey ko manzoori na doon toh kya tu mere khilaf jaayega? Ya phir agar main tujhsey kahun ki tu kisi aur se shaadi kar le, toh kya tu karega Dev?" she asked as Dev sighed, disappointed that her mother even thought about that.

"Maa, ye baat tu bhi acchi tarah jaanti hai ki main tere khilaf kabhi nahi jaunga lekin main Sonakshi ke alava kisi aur ko mere jeevan saathi ke roop main soch bhi nahi sakta, jo pyaar Sonakshi ke liye mere Mann main hai wo kabhi kisi aur ke liye nahi ho sakta Maa. Lekin ek baat bata Maa iss sab main Sonakshi ki kya galti hai?" he said, the love and sincerity for Sonakshi clearly visible in his voice as Ishwari kept quiet.

"Tu kuch bolegi nahi?" he asked as Ishwari lied down and turning away from Dev she said "Raat bohot ho gayi hai Dev, mujhey Sona hai, tu bhi jaake aaram kar" as Dev got up and as he left he said "Tu bhi aaram kar Maa, aur zyada soch matt. Apney mann se darr ko nikal de. Tera beta tujhey kabhi akela nahi chodega" he said as Ishwari nodded but did not look at him while Dev left her room, both calling it a night.

"Dev, ye toh acchi baat hai ki Auntyji ne tumsey baat ki" said Sonakshi, she was on a call with Dev the next day, he had called her and narrated the happenings of the previous night as Sonakshi's heart filled with joy, at least Auntyji was ready to talk and share her fears, it was a start.

"Haan Sonakshi Baat toh sahi hai tumhari, Maa ne apney darr, apney insecurities ke baarey main baat ki. I hope uskey mann ka darr kam hua ho?" he said, hopeful that his reassurance would have allayed to her mother's fears.

"I am sure aisa hi hua hoga Dev, we need to be positive" said Sonakshi as Dev smiled and replied "Yes, we need to be. Aur tum ho naa mere saath toh I am all the more positive" he said as Sonakshi smiled, after talking for some more time they ended the call, in the hope of their happy togetherness.

It was evening when Sonakshi returned home, as she entered she saw her parents in some discussion. From a distance it appeared as if Bijoy was worried about something while Asha was trying to make him understand. Wondering what her parents were talking about Sonakshi walked towards them, it was Asha who saw her first.

"Arey Sona, Aa gayi tu? Aaj jaldi aa gayi" she asked as Bijoy turned to look towards her daughter while Sonakshi replied "Haan Maa, aaj ke appointments jaldi khatam ho gaye, toh jaldi aa gayi" she said as Asha smiled, Sonakshi looked towards her father, one look at his face and she realized that her father was definitely worried.

"Baba, kya hua? Aap pareshan kyun lag rahey ho?" she asked as Asha replied "Koi baat nahi hai Sona" she said and looking at Bijoy she continued "Hai Naa Bijoy?" she said as Sonakshi by now was sure something was definitely bothering her parents just as Bijoy said "Haan Sona beta, koi baat nahi hai. Tu abhi kaam se aayi hai, thak gayi hogi, jaake fresh ho jaa" he said as Sonakshi pulled the chair beside her father and holding his hand in hers she said "Baba, sach sach bataiye. Aisi kya baat hai jo aap ko pareshan kar rahi hai?" she asked but both her parents were silent as she asked again insisting them to tell her about the matter which was worrying them.

"Sona beta...Mujhey galat matt samajhna lekin kya tujhey lagta hai ki Dev Ishwari ji tum dono ke rishtey ke baarey main mana payega?" he asked deciding to express his worry to his daughter as it was related to her happiness and future, Sonakshi on the other hand was surprised that her father had asked her that question especially when she had informed them that it was a decision which both had taken together and she was with him.

"Baba, aap aisey hi pareshan ho rahey hai. Mujhey yakin hai ki Dev Auntyji ko mana lega" she said trying to be optimistic but Bijoy was not convinced as he spoke "Lekin agar wo mana nahi paya toh?" he asked worriedly as Sonakshi stood sat quietly, she wanted to tell them about the conversation Dev had with his mother the previous night but then she refrained from it, she felt it might increase the hopes of her parents and she did not want that especially given that Ishwari had not given any indication of accepting their relation.

"Baba, Dev koshish kar raha hai naa? Aur main uskey saath hoon? Aur usney already Ishwari niwas ka mahol theek karna shuru bhi kar diya hai" she said as both Asha and Bijoy wondered what Sonakshi was talking about "Matlab? Tu kehna kya chahti hai Sona?" asked Asha as Sonakshi informed them about the departure of Mamaji's family from Ishwari Niwas as both her parents sighed in relief, yes it was sad that they had left but then it was always better to keep toxic relationships at bay.

"Baba, aap fikr mat kijiye. Sab theek ho jayega" she said trying to reassure her parents as Asha nodded in agreement and asked her to go to her room and freshen up. As soon as Sonakshi entered her room fresh tears made way from her eyes, though she maintained a strong face before her parents within herself she feared, what if her Baba's words came true? What if Auntyji did not agree? Would Dev leave her? Would she survive without him? No definitely not. With these thoughts she went towards the washroom to freshen up.

On the other hand, Ishwari was twisting and turning on her bed. Ever since her talk with Dev the previous night she was restless, the talk with Dev had definitely brought out a few things she had not expected. She knew her son's happiness lied with Sonakshi, though Dev had reassured her that his relationship with her would never change still she had a fear in her heart, what if Dev ignored her after Sonakshi comes in their lives? Will his love for her be the same? Would her position in his life be the same? Would she be able to accept Sonakshi? She had to make a decision and she made one right then. She hoped it was the right one, with these thoughts in her mind she drifted into the land of nod.

The next day was a Sunday and it was the day when Sonakshi and Dev met every week. After her talk with Dev the previous day she was filled with optimism but then her father's worry was also not unwarranted, and she had wanted to speak with Dev about it though she had stopped her father from thinking negatively, still in her heart she was fearful about what her Dad had said. After having her breakfast, she got ready and as she came down to leave for meeting Dev she spoke.

"Maa, main bahar jaa rahi hoon" she said as Asha nodded, though Sonakshi never told her that she was going to meet Dev, the happiness and glow on her daughter's face clearly told her that she was meeting her love. Just then the door bell rang as Sonakshi went towards it wondering who could be there at their house so early on a Sunday morning. But as she opened the door she was stunned into silence as she stammered,

"AUN.... AUNTYJI.... AAP?? YAHAN??"
