It's Monday and I am here with the first Bonus Part of this story. Thank you for your votes and comments. Means a lot.🙂🙂🙂. The parts in italics is the flashback.

Without further ado, here is the next part of this story. Hope you like it :-

"EVERYTHING IS FINE DEV... BUT..." said Dr. Iyer and paused as Dev and Sonakshi looked at her nervously wondering why she was hesitating, "But what Doctor? Please tell us? What's the matter? Is everything fine?" asked Dev hurriedly while Sonakshi's expressions suggested that the same questions were running through her mind as well while Dr. Iyer spoke again.

"As I had already said during the start of the treatment that even when Sonakshi gets pregnant then it's not going to be a normal pregnancy and there are going to be a few complications. So, these first 3 months of her pregnancy is very critical. If everything goes well then, the major risk would be averted" she said as Dev and Sonakshi sighed in relief, they already knew that Sonakshi would not have a smooth pregnancy and hence were ready to battle through it.

"Dev, now it's your responsibility to see that Sonakshi does not have any physical as well as emotional strain, it's very important for the well-being of the child" said Dr. Iyer as Dev nodded his head frantically in agreement as he said "I will take care of her more than my life Meena" he said, taking her hand in his he kissed it as Sonakshi hit him lightly with her free hand gesturing that they were still in the Doctor's cabin with Meena sitting in front of them.

"Don't worry Sonakshi, I don't mind" said Meenakshi with a wink as Sonakshi blushed into a hue of pink while Dev chuckled as Dr. Iyer continued "And Sonakshi, you need to very careful. You can do light exercises but don't exert yourself too much physically or mentally. I would advice you take a leave from work right away or start working from home if you feel that's possible" she said as Sonakshi and Dev nodded their head in agreement, Meenakshi gave them a list of medicines that Sonakshi needed to consume. Thanking the doctor, they left for their home.

Dev and Sonakshi were in the car with Sonakshi's head resting on his shoulder with her eyes closed, she was feeling weak and tired hence Dev had asked her to rest till they reached home, he wound his hand around her for support. He called up the Bose house and informed Asha to reach Ishwari Niwas with everyone as Asha was surprised but Dev assured her that everything was fine and asked her to reach quickly as Asha agreed to it. Dev rested his head on the headrest as his thoughts went back to the day a year ago....

"WE WILL ADOPT A KID SONAKSHI" as soon as Dev said that Sonakshi looked at him surprise, just like that he had found a solution but was she ready for it? She did not have an answer? Observing her quiet Dev turned around and looked at her as he said once again "We will adopt a kid Sonakshi, one does not become parents just by giving birth to a child. One can call themselves parents only when they fulfil their responsibilities for the child" he said as Sonakshi was still quiet, Dev was now unsure as to why she had not spoken a word.

"What's the matter Sonakshi? Why are you quiet?" he asked as Sonakshi replied "Dev, how can we adopt a kid? I mean what will Maa say? Will she accept? Moreover, can we give the kid the love like our own?" she asked, various questions were running in her mind. She was not sure about the idea of adoption that Dev was suggesting.

"Sonakshi, do you doubt that we cannot love the child like our own?" asked Dev as for a moment Sonakshi was taken aback at the tone Dev had used, it was a one of hurt & disappointment as Sonakshi replied "No Dev, I don't doubt at all, in fact I am sure we will be able to give the kid all the love in the world but do you think others can accept him/her. I mean Maa, Baba & others?" asked Sonakshi as Dev replied "Sonakshi, what's important is what we want. I know maybe at the start it will be difficult for others to accept it but I am sure with time everyone will come to love our child" he said though in his heart he knew that their parents would accept the child as their own while Sonakshi sat on the bed with a thud, she was still unsure about this, Dev knew the dilemma Sonakshi was in as he kept his hand on her shoulder while he spoke "Sona, Take your time love. I will not force my decision on you. Remember whatever decision you take I am with you" he said as she smiled looking at him, he turned to leave when Sonakshi held his hand and called him out.

"DEV" she said as he turned to look at her while she gestured him to sit beside her, he settled himself down as Sonakshi spoke "Dev, Can I suggest something?" she asked as he looked at her in surprise wondering why she was asking him permission to speak, Dev asked her to go ahead as Sonakshi said "Let me undergo the treatment Dev, even after that if it's unsuccessful then we will adopt a kid" she said as Dev sighed, he did not want her to do this "But Sona...your health..." he said but Sonakshi interrupted "Please Dev, with you by my side nothing will happen to me. Please Dev, I want to do this for me, for you, for us Dev" she pleaded as finally Dev relented. He knew he had to let her do this lest she might never be at peace with herself or with him for not trying hard enough.

" Alright Sonakshi, I will let you undergo this treatment but the moment I feel that there is any risk to your life I will not allow it to continue" he said as Sonakshi smiled and hugged him tightly as she spoke "You are the best Dev" as he chuckled, but there was a nervousness in his heart, he hoped that Sonakshi was not left disappointed.

The next day they conveyed their decision to their parents, though Ishwari and Asha were supportive about the decision just like Dev even Bijoy was unsure about it but then Dadi and Asha made him understand that their daughter's happiness lied in it as Bijoy agreed to them reluctantly.

The jerk of Sonakshi's hand on his chest brought Dev out of his thoughts, he looked towards her as she woke up from her sleep groggily just as the car halted before Ishwari Niwas. Dev helped Sonakshi as she came out of the car and both went inside their home only to find everyone assembled in the living room. The Bose family was already there so were Neha and Ranveer as both went towards them.

"Here they are? What's the matter Bhaiya? Why did you call us all here" asked Riya looking at Dev and Sonakshi as Neha added "Haan Bhaiya, why did you call us here?" she asked as Dev replied "We actually wanted to announce something" he said as everyone waited with bated breath as Dev looked at Sonakshi sheepishly, she knew how it would be difficult for the normally shy Dev to talk to about this.

"I AM PREGNANT" said Sonakshi, as soon as she said that there was a dawn of joy and celebration at Ishwari Niwas. The sisters hugged their Bhaiya and Bhabhi congratulating them while the elders blessed them. Ishwari and Asha had tears of joy in their eyes, just a year back they were mourning the loss of Dev and Sonakshi's unborn kid and the fact that Sonakshi's chances of becoming a mother was low to today where she was carrying a child in her, how times had changed.

Dev informed everyone about the need to take care of Sonakshi's health as Ishwari and Asha promised him that they would not allow anything to happen to his dear wife. Ishwari ushered them to the Pooja room of the house so that they could take the blessings of the almighty, thought Dev still did not believe in god yet his loved ones believed in god, so he went along with them.

As everyone stood in the Pooja room with their eyes closed there was only person who was gazing at the Shiva idol, it was none other than Dev, only one thought was going on in his mind. I don't believe in you but my Maa and my wife do. Don't let the equation between us affect our unborn child. Already you have given us sorrows please don't do it again. Meri Maa aur Biwi tujhpey bohot bharosa kartey hai, please unka vishwas aur bharosa matt todna.

After praying to the almighty Ishwari asked the Bose family to have lunch with them which they agreed to, Sonakshi was showered with all the love and care by both the families. After the lunch the Bose family left while Sonakshi along with Dev went to their room, Dev made Sonakshi lie on the bed for her to take some rest as Dev settled besides her while she kept her head in his lap as Dev kept caressing her hair as she drifted into the land of nod while Dev's thoughts drifted into the past....

"You both are sure you guys want to do this?" asked Dr. Meenakshi Iyer once again as Sonakshi confidently replied "Yes Meena, we are sure" she said with a smile on her face and turned towards Dev who nodded his head lightly, Meenakshi felt something amiss looking at Dev.

"Alright then" said Meenakshi and picking up her intercom asked a nurse to come to her cabin. As the nurse walked in, she instructed her to take Sonakshi to the check-up room and get her ready for some tests to be done and asked her to inform the admin team to prepare the papers for taking consent from Dev and Sonakshi for the treatment. As Sonakshi left along with the nurse Meenakshi turned towards Dev.

"You are not sure about this, isn't it?" asked Meena as Dev was taken aback for a moment, regaining his composure he replied "What...no...nothing...it's nothing like that Meena" he fumbled with his words as Meenakshi replied "Look Dev, apart from being a doctor I am a friend of you guys as well. You can share with me if anything is troubling you with respect to this treatment" she said in a calm yet friendly tone as Dev looked at her, finally he had someone with whom he could share his fears. Something which he could not do with either Sonakshi or Ishwari, firstly because of the hope they had and secondly, he knew that if he showed his vulnerabilities before them they would break as well and he could not afford to do that.

"Meena, are you sure this treatment will work? I mean would Sonakshi able to bear the pain of this? Are their risks to her life?" he asked expressing his fears as Meenakshi looked at him sympathetically, she knew what Dev was talking about as she replied "Dev, you already know everything, then why these apprehensions now?" she asked as Dev replied "I don't know Meena, to be honest I don't want Sonakshi to do this but when I see her face, all it has are hopes, hopes for our future, our family and I don't have the heart to break those hopes of her, but then I don't want anything to happen to her. I cannot bear that Meena" he said, there were light tears in his eyes as Dr. Iyer sighed and looked at the man in front of her, he was very different from the people she had come across till date.

"Look Dev, I understand your turmoil but then you cannot fall weak, especially not before Sonakshi because it will break her. You know she tells me that you are her strength so if you fall weak in front of her then how can she hold herself strong" she said as Dev nodded her agreement while Meenakshi added "Look Dev, there will be times during this period when she will not be physically but emotionally and mentally drained as well. At that time, it will be your strength which will guide her through, you cannot fall weak Dev" she said trying to give him the confidence for the future as Dev agreed to her.

"Thanks Meena, that helped" said Dev as she acknowledged his thanks with a light nod of her head, she got up to leave asking Dev to wait for her as she completed the formalities, just before leaving she turned to look at Dev as she spoke "You know Dev, till date I have handled many such cases. In fact, there have been cases where the woman was forced to get treated by the man and his family, but it ended up in a disaster. It's very rare to find a man like you, my friend is really lucky to have you in her life" she said and left as Dev took a deep breath, he would do anything to keep Sonakshi safe.

Dev was jerked out of his thoughts by the ring of his phone, it was a call from his office as he quickly cut the call lest it disturbed her sleep. Keeping the phone on the table he looked at his sleeping wife as he removed the hairlock from her face. He moved his hand towards her abdomen and kept it there as he whispered "Little one, I will never let anything happen to you, never" as he bent down and kissed Sonakshi's forehead.

Dev was sitting by Sonakshi's side in nervousness as Sonakshi lied on the bed, her expressions were mirroring that of Dev as both looked at the monitor in nervousness. 3 months of Sonakshi's pregnancy had passed in jiffy and Dev had beard all her tantrums and mood swings but he never let it affect him. He along with his family had taken utmost care of Sonakshi and today after three months they had come for the first Ultrasound test of Sonakshi, they were excited as well as nervous to catch the first glimpse of their child.

"What's the matter Meena? Why do you look tensed?" asked Dev as Sonakshi gripped his hand while Meena looked at them, her face expressionless. She once again looked at the monitor as Dev and Sonakshi waited for her to speak, but the words she spoke after a few moments left them stunned and shocked as she said...

"I AM UNABLE TO HEAR THE HEARBEATS OF THE CHILD"
