chapter 9 (part two)
*flash-forward - 2021*
Vince is playing chess against the 30-year-old male from the neighborhood outside. Whenever he is the master of chess, he beats the streaks to take one shot. However, these two people enjoy playing chess with each other, while Vince tells the male person to show respect to the master, have a chance to beat everybody in the game and tell the story in the city.
2021 >>>>>>>>>> 1991
*January 1991*
Vince watched a 40s male take turns a game of chess while he waited; whenever he was thinking about the brain to choose the right one and sliding one of the chess pieces to beat the game whenever he was the lucky one. After winning the chess game, he's on the way to Broadway. He went to Broadway to see his friend, Chandler, and check up on her. He sat on the chair, watching her while Chandler was practicing. Chandler is doing the show on Broadway from "Once on This Island."
Chandler: *doing the practice from the show on the stage alongside casts*
Vince: *watching her*
Chandler: *read it out loud without the script*
Vince: *listened to her voice*
Chandler: *looks at Vince*
Vince: *watching her*
After finishing the practice, she approached Vince around the seats when she felt ready to take the stage.
Chandler: How do I look?
Vince: Impressive.
Chandler: How do you think I feel when I make it to the stage and kill that part towards the show?
Vince: Play your role and get the fuck out of the line.
Chandler: *hearing*
Vince: You got me?
Chandler: I got you, Vince. I hope my family will show up; they've been through rough times lately.
Vince: Ouch.
Chandler: *hugs him*
Vince: *hugs her back*
The next day, Flynt is the only one on the porch while his family is still busy in the house; he only likes staying outside to try to be positive on his own. He follows after school and comes up to the porch chilling when he's waiting for the sky to get dark.
Flynt: *sits on the seat from the porch and sees the car pulled over with loud music until the person gets out of the car and goes to the next door*
Susan: *walking around the city, taking each one of the houses to give out the paper for voting and stepping up to Quentin's house and ringing the bell*
Quentin: *eats the oatmeal and puts the bowl down on the table*
Susan: *waiting for the door*
Quentin: *opens the door and sees her including the black car* Oh shit! *pulled Susan out of the way*
Susan: *falls to the ground*
Unknown: *shoots him multiple times in drive-by*
Quentin: *dead*
Susan: Sir? Sir? Somebody help!!! *holds him and cries*
*Camden, New Jersey*
Zero, Blake, and Hadley are chilling in the neighborhood from outside Blake's friend's house; he calls both of them to come over to chill out and ride back to New York together later tonight.
Blake: To be honest, this is how I lived back there as a kid.
Zero: No shit. In a different city, so many things are already changing for you. There is no way can't fucking with you, everybody is loving you.
Blake: What are you talking about? *looks at him*
Hadley: *smoking while listening to their conversations* I know y'all idiots talking about coming to New York whenever you guys say goodbye anytime soon.
Zero and Blake: *look at each other and look right at Hadley* What the fuck are you talking about?
Hadley: Why? Am I saying something?
Blake: Hadley, you haven't gotten shit to say about the city. I'm talking about when I'm going back to New York to do it all on the same page. I ain't trying to push my damn button.
Zero: If you were heading around the corner to cover more newspapers to see more crimes back in the 80s. Perhaps, I just heard about the guy who got killed during the mob.
Hadley: For real?
Zero: This is a crisis.
Hadley: Anybody want to smoke?
Blake: Let me have it.
Hadley: *gives the cigarette to Blake* I wouldn't push my button either. I've been losing my mind.
Blake: *smoking*
*New York*
Griffin comes out of the cell alongside the prisoners as they come downstairs in the hallway while Officer Albert approaches the prison to look for Tabitha. Officer Albert checks with the prisoners whenever he feels like a victory and whether they can do what they want to; he looks at the other two prisoners fighting at each other until he walks away while the guards break off each other during Griffin's reaction and enjoy it.
Tabitha: *keeps an eye on women's inmates while crossing her arms and sees Officer Albert coming down to the steps*
Officer Albert: *walks over to her*
Tabitha: I have a proposition for you, Gary.
Officer Albert: It's about damn time. I've been waiting for months.
Tabitha: Don't be shameful; it'll take place to get my task done as well.
Officer Albert: I wonder if I can see so many goofs from out here doing dirty work across the street.
Tabitha: You're the only one who has put many people in the car after getting into trouble.
Officer Albert: That's my job. These streets are better than me when I have my backup.
Tabitha: Albert, It's ours. There is nothing they can get overflowing yet. I had my family stay on the curfew at night.
Officer Albert: Tell everyone to put up a little early curfew. Somebody else will come for blood. *looks at her*
Tabitha: *looks at him*
Griffin is sitting at the table alone, eating lunch at the cafeteria; as he finishes up the food, he has to think about what he's going to do without risking his life and he sees Officer Albert show up. And Officer Albert had to keep it eye on Griffin to try to keep him proving for tease without surrounding the inmates.
Griffin: *left out the cafeteria while walking past Officer Albert*
Officer Albert: *keeps an eye on the inmates*
Later that night, Amy drove home from the car; when she collected her stuff out of there and exited the car she tried to go inside until someone called her name; Amy turned around and saw the stalker person.
Stalker: Amy, can I come inside?
Amy: I'm afraid not; I can't let you in.
Stalker: Come on, I know you from the class together. My family just kicked me out, and I need your help.
Amy: I know you think you're going to make yourself feel proud yourself; I just can't do it tonight. Maybe another day. I gotta get ready to go to the class tomorrow. *walks inside*
Stalker: *looks at her*
Amy: *shuts the door and tries to go upstairs until hears a loud bang to the door once and gets jump scared while looking at the door*
Stalker: *looks at the door and starts walking away slowly*
Amy: *looking at the window and sees the person walking off*
The next morning, Ceila, Genevieve, Hadley, and Kathy gather to the self-defense class together. One coach teaches all four girls to become stronger people whenever they step up to different levels.
They're gonna have to do whatever it takes to pretend to stand up for themselves when they use physical combat moves while the girls are doing things without being scared.
Genevieve was facing the late 20s male with the pull-ups; they went up to 60 counts until the guy stopped Genevieve kept on going while three girls reacted and cheered her up at the same time.
*Later*
Girls: *getting off the bus after self-defense class while chatting with each other*
Ceila: I told you, girl. I told you I would lift that shit. You were making a promise to get their ass kicked right here outside in your apartment.
Genevieve: You know what, I really should.
Hadley: So tell me, Celia, are we going to go inside and play the board games as if Genevieve had an idea?
Celia: Um...I don't know, but we decided.
Hadley: What about you? *looks at Kathy*
Kathy: *looks around seeing no one outside*
Hadley: Kathy? Are you listening to me?
Kathy: No, no. I didn't hear what you were saying. I looked up around.
Hadley: Open your ear then. You could hear me very clearly.
Kathy: *hearing*
Genevieve: *opens the door, seeing a bunch of people chilling in the hallway inside the apartment*
Girls: *follows her while looking at many people talking, being crazy, or doing drugs*
Genevieve: *keeps going and makes it to the door and opens up with the key*
Girls: *goes to the door with Genevieve*
Walter: Well, look who's arriving.
Hadley: Shove it, Walter.
Walter: *hearing*
Genevieve: Look what, I'm stronger than you.
Walter: Yeah, you are. I ain't excited yet; that's the only reason you want to build up with us to get more products in this type of way.
Genevieve: Speaking of the build, more people looked like waiting up to get more.
Walter: Are you fucking crazy?
Genevieve: I am fucking crazy. It's going to be crazy.
Walter: *hearing*
Hadley: Genevieve? Are you going to play something for games?
Genevieve: Let me look at it. *goes to the room and checks the board games*
Frankie and Joey go to the mall to a clothing store, where they search for outfits to choose from. Joey doesn't feel like finding any outfits as he waits for Frankie to finish before he walks over to him.
Frankie: What do you think about these? *shows him with six outfits*
Joey: I ain't buying a whole thing for you.
Frankie: So what? I looked at all of it; it looked so sweet.
Joey: Sweet, Frankie? Yeah right, you'll get shit yourself next time, we're going back to work. *walks away*
Frankie: *dropped the outfits from the floor and left the store* Joey.
