|•Chapter 10•|
"We are here." Tsireya said as we emerged from the water on Ilu's. It's been a month and a half since we came to Awa'atlu, since we started to train to become one of the people. Today Tsireya was showing us their spirit tree so we could see it and connect with it.
It was a big step that Tsireya was taking, letting us see their sacred place. Only people allowed from the Metkayina tribe could visit. I guess Tsireya saw us as one of them. One of the people. Tsìlpey thought.
"This is the Cove of the Ancestors. Our most sacred place." Tsireya says as we pass under a fallen tree. Kiri who was beside Tsìlpey sighed in awe.
"Eclipse is the best time of day to be here." Tsireya says as the sun was setting. "That's why I brought you here when Eclipse is soon rising."
We continued to ride as it kept getting darker and darker until it was esclipse. The water was lit up as Tsìlpey looked down to see the spirit tree, it was beautiful.
We got off our Ilu as we dove down towards the spirit tree when we made it down there Tsireya helped Tuk connect to the tree as Tsìlpey took her tsaheylu and connected it with the branch. Tsìlpey saw white.
Sounds of laughter filled her ear as she opened her eyes. She was in the Sully tent in the Omatikaya stronghold. In front of her was Neteyam and herself. Only they were children. Tsìlpey's younger self was running while Neteyam chased her. They were shouting and screaming.
"I'm going to get you Tsìlpey!" A younger Neteyam yelled out as he got closer and closer to her younger self.
Just then Jake entered the tent holding a datapad that he probably got from Norm. Tsìlpey ran past him and Neteyam followed soon after but Jake picked him up. "Sempul!" Neteyam yelled out as he tried to get out of Jake's arms.
"Settle down, I want to show you something." Jake said as he put Neteyam on the ground and walked over by the fire and sat down. Neteyam and a younger Tsìlpey shared a glance before running on either side of Jake and sitting down.
"Now Tsìlpey I know you wanted to know about who your parents are." Jake started. Tsìlpey remembered this, it was when she was 7, when she learned Kiri was adopted. She wanted to know who her parents were, she knew that her parents weren't Jake and Neytiri even though Neytiri acted like a mother to her.
"This is your father Tsu'tey." Jake said as he moved the datapad over for Tsìlpey to see. On the screen were 3 photos of Tsu'tey. One photo was of his younger self with two girls. Jake pointed to Tsu'tey then to a girl on the right. "That's Neytiri and her sister Sylwanin." Jake said pointed to the girl on the left.
"She is with Eywa after sky people murdered her and a group of kids, shortly after they found sky people machines knocking down trees and killing life here." Jake said as he looked down at Tsìlpey.
He showed her another photo of him grown up that Kiri's mother, Grace took when she was allowed back in the Omatikaya hometree. The last one was of Tsu'tey with war paint on shortly before the first Great War.
Jake gave her the datapad as Neteyam tried to talk to Jake. Little Tsìlpey brought her hand on the datapad. "Nga oeru lu lom ma sempul." Little Tsìlpey whispered as she looked at the photos.
A small smile was on Tsìlpey's face as she watched her younger self remembering how much she missed her father and mother and longed to meet them. Jake turned to her shortly after and started talking about her mother.
Before Jake could speak, white was in her vision as she was brought back to the living world under the ocean to see Rotxo pointing over his shoulder at Kiri's limp body and then the surface. Then they started to swim up. Quickly.
"Is she breathing?" Rotxo asked immediately after we surfaced. Kiri was on Neteyam's ilu as Neteyam was doing mouth to mouth, trying to get her to breath. "Is she breathing?" Rotxo asked again
There was a gasp of breath as Kiri took a breath of air. "Get her to the village!" Tsiryea yelled out to Neteyam. "Hurry!" Neteyam quickly took off to the village as Tsireya yelled for Tuk to follow her. We quickly got on our ilu's and raced towards the village.
