Difficulty: Intermediate. Uses half-double crochet, single crochet, adjustment of sizes, and increasing/decreasing.

Finished Size:

Made as a Women's small size. To adjust the size, simply change the amount you ch at the beginning/how many stitches you leave unseamed for the thumb hole.

Materials:

- Red Heart Super-Saver #4 weight in Ocean Blue (1 skein)

- 5.5 mm crochet hook (I used Susan Bates)

- Yarn needle

Gauge:

In hdc, 5 rows and 6 st across = 2 in (5 cm) x 2 in (5 cm)

Notes:

- Inspired by a vague Ravelry pattern that I improvised on. 😗

- One skein makes 2 pairs of gloves.

- To adjust size, simply change the amount of chs, FDC and st left behind for thumb hole.

- Pattern is in US terms.

- Make 2 gloves.

Abbreviations:

- Sc: single crochet

- Hdc: half-double crochet

- FDC: foundation double crochet

- hdc2tog: Decrease (half-double crochet 2 together)

- Sl st: slip stitch

- BLO: Back loop only

Pattern:

A. Thumb and hand:

Ch 30. (Larger/smaller sizes: Subtract or add an even ch multiple.)

1. BLO - hdc in 3rd ch from hk and in each ch across: 28 hdc.

2. BLO - hdc in 3rd ch from hk and in each ch across: 28 hdc. (Larger sizes: repeat this row till it is the desired length)

3. Fold piece in half on itself and sl st through 2 thicknesses until the last 7 st. (Place a st marker on the designated st to mark end.) When at st 21, sl st through 1 thickness for the remainder of the piece. (Larger/smaller sizes: adjust amount of times you work through 2 thicknesses till you have 6-8 rem st.)

4. Sc in each of next 7 st: 7 sc. DO NOT JOIN. Rep in a spiral-like fashion, ending with a sl st at beginning of rnd. 

Fasten off and weave in ends.

B. Bottom Cuff:

Join yarn with a sl st at the side seam. Ch 4.

5. Work 11 FDC. Join with a sl st at back side of thumb hole. (Larger/smaller sizes: work more/less FDC)

6. Working at bottom of piece: Ch 2, hdc in each st around, join with sl st in top ch of beginning ch-2.

7. Ch 2, hdc in each st around. Join with sl st in top ch of beginning ch-2.

8. Ch 2. [1 hdc in next st, hdc2tog] around. Join with sl st in top ch of beginning ch-2.

9. Ch 2, hdc in each st around. Join with sl st in top ch of beginning ch-2.

10. Rep rnd 9. (Larger sizes: rep rnd 9 until piece is desired length.)

11. Ch 2. [1 hdc in next st, hdc2tog] around. Join with sl st in top ch of beginning ch-2. (Smaller sizes: rep this rnd till wrist is desired width.)

12. Ch 2. [1 hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st] around. Join with sl st in top ch of beginning ch-2. 

13. Rep rnd 12. (Larger sizes: rep this rnd till wrist is desired width.)

14. Ch 2. BLO - hdc in each st across. Join with sl st in top ch of beginning ch-2.

15. Rep rnd 14. (Larger sizes: rep this rnd till bottom cuff is desired width.)

Fasten off and weave in ends.

C. Top Cuff

Join yarn at top of piece with a sl st.

16. Working at top of piece, ch 2, hdc in each st around. Join with a sl st in top ch of beginning ch-2.

17. Rep rnd 16. (Larger sizes: rep rnd 16 till top cuff is desired width.)

Fasten off and weave in ends.
