Chain 1 Bind-Off

Just like the chain cast-on, the chain 1 bind-off makes a decorative edge to the project, and also opens the door for decorative crochet edges to the knit projects (hey, speaking of which, I have a section about crochet 😏), so I wish to show you what it looks like. You'll need a crochet hook for this technique. This chapter will make a lot more sense if you have read my chapter "Slip and Chain" because the concept itself comes from crochet.

1. Cut the yarn, leaving a 5-6 inch tail.

2. Make a slip knot with the working yarn and adjust it over the crochet hook.

3. Insert the crochet hook into the next loop on the peg.

4. Pull the loop over the peg and onto the hook.

5. Draw the bottom loop through the loop that came from the peg.

6. YO, draw through the next loop on the hook: one chain made.

7. Repeat steps 3-6 until all pegs are off the hook.

8. Cut the yarn, leaving a 5-6 inch tail.

9. Take the loop off the crochet hook and pull the tail through. Pull snug. (In crochet, this is called fastening off.)

10. Weave in the ends of the yarn.
