Akaashi stared at beautiful man in front of him; gleaming golden eyes, lean but muscular body in a velvet tux, smiling wonderfully at the love of his life. Bokuto took a step forward and a step back, waltzing along with his partner, his smile showing the true love that he felt for them. But the love of his life wasn't Akaashi.

Bluer than velvet was the night,

softer than the satin was the light,

from the stars

Akaashi held a small glass of champagne in his hand, leaning back against the balcony outside watching his best friend dance with his new wife. Her beauty was undeniable but Bokuto's was more so. He turns around the face the sky, looking at the twinkling stars, the only thing keeping him from jumping off that balcony right there and then.

She wore blue velvet,

bluer than velvet were her eyes

He turns to face Bokuto again, watching him stare endlessly at the pretty girls sapphire eyes with endless love. Something he had dreamed of seeing for years. Unfornutaley, Bokuto had fallen; he had fallen hard and it wasn't for Akaashi.

Warmer than may her tender sighs,

The woman hung her arms lazily around Bokuto's neck, tangling her fingers through the ace's soft silvery hair, and smiling warmly up at him. Bokuto smiled back, unaware pf his best friend ace's heart tearing in half at the sight.

feeling the rapture grow,

like a flame burning brightly

The girl spun around, her blue velvet dress spinning in time with her, her satin soft pale skin radiating making her the centre of attention. Akaashi could feel it, and so could everyone else, a spark had grown in Bokuto's heart for the woman.

But when she left,

After the song finished of the newly weds first dance, the girl pecked Bokuto's cheek and waltzed over to her family, leaving Bokuto with a tender smile. Akaashi decided to make his way over to his friend, to congratulate him of course, nothing more...he had lost his chance.

She wore blue velvet, but in my heart there'll always be

"Congratulations on your marriage, Bokuto-san," Akaashi forced himself to say through a painfully stinging heart and gritted teeth.

"Stop being so formal, Akaashi!" He laughs grabbing his friend and trapping him in a bear hug, making the other spill his champagne.

Precious and warm a memory, through the years

"We'll still see each other, right Bokuto-san?"

"Of course Akaashi! Maybe not as much but just keep those amazing memories of us in high school together while I'm not there!"

"Of course," Akaashi tried to hold back his tears but it was easier said than done. He felt a tear roll down his cheek he and calmly turned to leave for the balcony.

He reaches the balcony and leans back again the wood, facing the party once more. Tears steamed down his face one after the other likes the notes in a song while his body shivered. He spots the bride again and she gives him a soft smile which he returns remorsefully because he can still see blue velvet through his tears.
