High School Days
High school. A place filled with diverse youth finding their way and place in life. Some know where they are heading, some still figuring it out and others simply not giving a damn. You got the athletes, nerds, outcasts, truants and so forth. Every single group stayed with their own kind.
You noticed those who were doing sports or in the performing arts tended to be the 'popular' kids. Specifically those who were athletes. You didn't understand why. The nice ones you could see why, but the ones who acted like jerks and liked to bully other students, you never could understand.
The only time students of different groups mingled, was when teachers forced it. Your biology teacher was very big on group projects. Everyone except teachers, for some reason, knew that group projects always ended up with one person doing all the heavy lifting. You wouldn't have minded had you been able to pick partners, but sadly your teacher liked to put people who clearly have nothing in common together as partners.
You look at the projector, that showed who was partnered with who. You inwardly groan when you see your partner. Jason Duan. He was the captain of the wrestling team and you knew his character. He was apparently a loyal to those he liked but he had quite the temper. Everyone goes to their partner and you do the same.
"Hello." you say as you sit next to him. "I'm F/n in case you didn't know."
"Jason." he responds smiling at you. "The project is due next week right?"
"Yes."
"I have a match that I need to prepare for so-"
"If this is your way of saying you won't do anything, I will only do my portion." you say firmly. Your biology teacher, Ms. Zin, knew you well. Your grade in her class was over a hundred percent due to doing every single one of her extra credit assignments. Your grade wouldn't take much of a hit. You couldn't say the same about Jason's. Anyone on a sports team needed to maintain a 3.0 GPA. If it shows that they are falling behind, they are required to take extra classes and prevented from attending games and matches.
"You really are straight laced aren't you?" he says snidely and you only pull out the rubric.
"We have to write up an essay along with a slide show. I am willing to write up the main part of the essay, but I am expecting you to take care of the thesis and conclusion paragraphs. As for slides can you take care of the portions prior to the discovery?" you ask him.
"Sure." The two of you set up the document and slides and discuss the plans for the layout.
"Here is my number if you have any questions." you hand him just as the bell rings and you walk out the door. Jason watches before scoffing and heading to his next class. You didn't seem to be like a liar when you said you would only do your part. He couldn't afford to fail this class. He already had a D- and his counselor had already spoken to him about his grades slipping. If his grade in this class goes down a letter, he will be taken off the team until it was fixed.
Later that night, you get a text from an unknown number. When you read over it, you knew it was Jason. You didn't bother saving his number onto your contacts since you assumed it only would be this one instance you would need to talk to him. He was asking about how to set up the thesis and you head onto the document that you both shared. You only guided him through it and did minor edits, but never did his portion.
Jason was a little irritated that you weren't budging and not doing anything but guiding. But what could he do? The next day in Bio, Ms. Zin gave class time to work on the project. It was there you were able to notice how hard he was struggling.
"Do you want to be tutored?" you ask him. "You would be having an easier time on the project and class if you go more in depth with it."
"Why would you want to help me?"
"Because we still have four months left of school. You are going to be struggling bad if you don't invest more time in studying. If you don't want to, I don't really care, but if you are interested." You continue doing the project in class and explain parts of it to him in ways so that he could understand.
Jason stares hard at your number after coming home from practice. He understood that he wouldn't be struggling as much if he actually understood what was going on in class. So, after careful deliberation, he calls you.
"Hello?" you ask.
"Hi F/n. It's Jason. About you tutoring me, when are you available?" The two of you discuss and it is decided that on every Monday and Friday, at lunch, the two of you would meet in the school library to study.
The plan is put into action on the next Monday. Surprisingly, Jason was there before you. You sit down next to him, ignoring all the whispers around you. You pull out your Bio notes and look at him.
"What exactly are you in need of help."
"Everything."
"Gotta be more specific." Jason tries to explain what he is struggling with and you write it down. After getting a general idea of what he needed help with, you start explaining with diagrams and have him take notes. On occasion, he would call you to explain some homework and you would patiently explain. On the day of the presentation, Jason was able to explain his portion well and the two of you got an A.
Jason smiles when he checks his grades on his phone. His bio grade was now a C. He was safe from being kicked off the team. He was walking down the hall when he saw you putting stuff in your locker and he walks up to you smiling.
"My grade went up." he says excitedly.
"Good for you." you reply not looking back at him. He nudges you as you continue to focus on putting stuff away. "Can I help you?" you ask him, finally looking at him.
"You see... I want to thank you." he tells you. "You did put in time to help me. Do you want to go out after school as a way of me saying thanks?"
Alas, this was the start of your relationship with Jason. You had gone on dates with other guys, but you consider Jason your first official boyfriend. You didn't think it would go the way it did, but somehow it ended with the two of you being a couple.
Everyone talked about it. How the two of you got together. It wasn't like they were bullying you, so you never gave too much of a care, but you didn't like being center of attention. Even so, you continued to do things the way you always did. You would spend your lunch breaks with Jason on Mondays and Fridays as you both had different friend circles.
"I don't trust him very much." Your friend Mei tells you as you all play cards. "A pair of sevens."
"I don't know," Your other friend Jean says in response. "He seems nice. A pair of eights."
"He is." You tell them both. "If he wasn't, I wouldn't even have considered him an option." you say placing your two aces.
"What the f-" Mei shouts. "Girly! Why you got to do me this way?" She says waving her two cards. You and Jean laugh, before he passes his turn and you play your final combo.
"Full house. I win." you blow a kiss to Mei. She flips you off before playing her final pair of kings. You pull out your phone, when you feel a presence behind you. You turn and see Jason.
"Hello." he says hugging your shoulders.
"It's not Friday yet." you tell him.
"But I miss you." he pouts.
"I see."
"Why are you here?" Mei says annoyed. Jean nudges her but she continues to glare. It had been two months since you started dating but Mei was very clear she didn't like him. Jean was more accepting, but he himself also had some concerns. You turn to look at Jason.
"Can we talk after school?" you ask him. Jason nods before walking off. You turn to Mei. "Mei, why do you have to be like this?"
"I don't trust him."
"But why? He hasn't done anything warranting worry."
"That is what you think, but haven't you noticed F/n? The glares. People talking behind your back?"
"I've noticed. But they haven't done anything."
"Exactly. You know that there are girls that like him. The 'popular' ones. The ones who we have seen bully others. And yet they leave us alone. Why?"
"Shouldn't that be a good thing?" Jean asks. Mei rests her head in her hands in dismay before looking up once more.
"He is doing something. I don't know what, but he is doing something. You can call it protection for us, but I just know they way he is doing it is wrong."
"You are being over dramatic Mei." you say in response as you help Jean clean up the cards to prep for the next game. Mei silently pulls out her phone. She shows you a social media page of one of the wrestlers.
"You know him right?"
"Yeah. Jason's friend. He usually eats with Jason. Never really talked to him though." Mei discreetly points to the table that Jason sits at.
"Where is he?"
"Not there." you say after looking for him.
"He hasn't been sitting with them for the past week. Now I happen to hear when I went to the principal's office that he got into some fight outside of school, which is why he isn't here right now."
"You can't seriously believe that Jason would do that." you say incredulously at what Mei was implying.
"Don't you think it is weird that he hasn't told you that one of his friends got injured last week. To the point where he can't even attend school?" You remain silent. "You can ask him about it. I will remain forever firm on my suspicions. I don't trust him."
You didn't want to believe Mei, but you knew her since elementary school. Mei was frighteningly observant when it came to people's characters. It was one of the reasons why you wanted Mei to like Jason. That day you ask him about his friends.
"I didn't want to worry you with him." Jason tells you as he walks you home.
"But I would be more concerned seeing him bruises when he comes back to school. I'm sorry for not noticing early." you tell him.
"About him, can we not talk about him?" he asks you.
"Why?"
"I visited him in the hospital. We kind of had a falling out." he tells you.
"What happened?"
"I don't want to talk about it, but please can you just avoid him for now." The two of you drop the conversation and talk about random things when he brings up Mei. "She doesn't really like me."
"She doesn't like most people. First time I met her, I nearly threw hands with her. She will come around eventually."
"I hope. I really don't want your friendship to be ruined because of me." You didn't tell Jason you felt suspicious about the falling out. Ever since his friend came back to school, you heard rumors here and there but you noticed how he would go out of his way to avoid you specifically. You were concerned as the rumors continued to involve Jason, but you didn't believe in such things until you were given solid proof.
A few months later, you were relaxing at home. Finals had ended and the last day of school was tomorrow. You were eating dinner with your parents when the door bell rings.
"I'll get it." You open the door and see your very angry but concerned friends. "What happened?" you ask them.
"Can we come in?" Mei asks you. You tell your parents about your friends and the three of you head to your room.
"So what happened?" you ask. Mei and Jean share a look, before Jean shows you his phone. The content shocked you. "I asked Jean to record it in secret in case. I told you, I knew he was doing something." The video showed Jason clearly threatening Mei. The audio wasn't very clear but the actions Jason showed were very threatening.
"We don't want you in a relationship with him, if he is treating people like this. It isn't safe for you." Jean explains. You feel your tears about to fall, but Jean and Mei say nothing. That night you tell your parents that you are going to end your relationship, to which they support fully. The next day, you wait for Jason with both Mei and Jean. You didn't want to be alone when you were going to break the news to him.
Jason knew that you were upset when he saw you. You were glaring at him, and looked like you had been crying.
"What is wrong F/n?" he asks you gently as he tries hold your hand, but you avoid his touch.
"I want to break up." you say getting to the point.
"What? Why?"
"Threatening people? Is that the reason why no every approached me about my relationship to you?"
"I was trying to protect you."
"Is that why you threatened Mei? And don't pretend you didn't. There is a video." you say angrily. "My parents know and they believe our relationship is unsafe. I am not sorry and I won't regret ending things with you, considering what you did to try and maintain it." From that day forth, you cease contact with him.
You blocked his number and ignored every single one of his pleas to get back together throughout summer. Finally you were a senior and you were rather concerned about what was about to happen now that you were single.
Things were surprisingly normal, and you felt relieved for a short period of time. You were going to locker to put away the new textbooks that were issued to you, and when you close it you see a desperate Jason.
"F/n-" you walk away before he could saying anything else. "F/n!" he shouts before grabbing your arm. You wince slightly. "Please. Can we talk?"
"I made my thoughts very clear. We are done and I have zero interests in starting over." you try to pull your arm away but he holds on tighter.
"I didn't want to see you get hurt from the people around you. I knew people weren't going to be happy that I started going out with you. I couldn't bare the thought."
"I don't care what you thought, you threatened my friend. That is beyond crossing the line. Now let go." Jason watches as you walk away from him. It was still the beginning of the year. He had time to work things out with you.
It was failing miserably though. You were always with Jean or Mei and if you shared any classes with him, you would either switch out or inform the teacher before hand that you don't want to be near him. He still believed there was a chance for him, but then you started hanging out with a new person, towards the end of the school year.
He was in the library looking for you, when he saw you helping out another person with a school project. It reminded him much of when he first met you. The possibility that you would go out with them was scaring him. You needed to come back to him. And so rumors started spreading.
Mei was prone to getting into fights and Jean silently took it. You knew who started it and reported it. But it didn't do much. It was continuous and the strain was showing on your grades. Everyday you three would try avoid people during breaks but even then it was difficult. You deleted your social media to avoid random messages until finally you decided to confront the route of the problem.
"Its the first time you initiated contact F/n after our breakup." Jason tells you.
"You seem proud considering what you had been doing." you say in spite.
"I can make it stop F/n. So come on, come back to me."
"The damage has been done already. Why do you think I would ever go back to you?"
"Has it?" He pulls out his phone. "You guys got your college admissions yeah? I did too. XXX University. Same one as yours."
"That wasn't the only one I got acceptance to."
"I know. But it will be the one you go to. Mei and Jean also got into some pretty good places. Very shocked about Mei, not so much about Jean, but it doesn't matter."
"What do you mean?"
"There are ways to get them kicked out." he shows you a photo. "Really good work. Can't really tell that it is fake huh?"
"You-"
"If I post it online, it doesn't matter if they prove themselves innocent, they won't let them in. I mean that is if I send it. If I don't, no worries."
"So you want me to go out with you?"
"Its all I ever wanted." You look at Jason. You didn't want your friends to lose admission to the places they got accepted to. You also wanted to put an end to the bullying.
"Fine. But it won't be like it once was."
Years had pass since that statement. You didn't realize what you had done to yourself in the process. Jason never let you go. You thought in college you could do something, but there was nothing you could do, because Jason was smart and always managed to cover up anything that could have implicated him.
You at one point tried running away, but that made it even worse. After a while, you just gave up. It was as if you were a prisoner in your own house. You were an adult and you looked at your protruding stomach. You could only pray that this child wouldn't be like his father. When you weren't concerned with your unborn child, you would think back to you high school days, and when things went wrong.
OH MY GOD did this take forever. It is also longer than most stuffs I written, so I applaud if you made it this far. I've always seen those rant books about wattpad cliches and I am like those seem very repetitive. But it also seemed fun. I will admit it does get annoying and I find it rather scary how people find it romantic that males who are overtly aggressive and possessive are hot if they have a pretty face but I digress.
The last part of this story is connected to the one prior mainly because it would make it more easier to end and that is why. So now you know how Luca's parents met. This was difficult because I don't want to go into cliche highschool tropes but rather what would I do in a situation like this but even then, this had problems in it.
The school I go to, if you tell a teacher that you are being bullied or harrassed, they immediately take action. I don't know about other schools so I had a lot of what if scenarios because I know there are schools that aren't as amazing as mine, which makes me sad.
Also this is me picturing a public school, but maybe I should tackle another one of these highschool stories, but this time a private school setting, therefore rich kids. Thoughts? Ideas? Help is really appreciated.
I also don't really do requests since I am usually busy, but if you want to have the possiblity of bringing some yandere trope to life, please state the pairing, and how would you like it to go. If you want more details on this, refer to my opening chapter.
Anyways BYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
