A Fated Encounter?
The sun had already set and you decided to head outside to get some fresh air. At the beginning of the festivities your parents had introduced you to the nobles that had been questioning them. For the first time, your parents were treating you like they cared about you although you knew it was all an act.
You meant to spend more time with Yosuke, but he did come as a servant and actually had to work. So, all you could do was wait for him to find an opportunity to sneak out. Overall, this had been fairly boring. You remembered how much fun it had always been to participate in the festival which took place in the streets. Pretty much the only thing you had done here was waste time eating from the many different types of food, but you couldn't really keep that up.
Now, you looked up at the cloudy sky as you felt a cool breeze. However, something caught your eye. The path you were on led to a gazebo with a table inside. The table in it was covered with all sorts of papers and scrolls. Excitedly, you approached the table and after looking around for anyone, you sat down and picked up a scroll which you proceeded to read in the light of the surrounding candles.
You didn't have many chances to read at your house, so this was a wonderful chance for you. You had learned to read from a servant who was like a mother to you or at least what you thought a mother would be like. However, she was dismissed when you were nine and you never saw here after that.
Every now and then, as time passed, a few candles would go out from a strong breeze which would come by. As candles blew out eventually you didn't have enough light to make out the words on the scroll. So, you set the scroll down and laid you head against the table. You felt yourself nod off and didn't notice when you fell asleep. It seemed like seconds later you were awoken by a deep voice. "Are you alright?"
You shot your eyes open but couldn't tell who the silhouette was. You squinted and tried to make out something about the person. But the sky was covered with clouds so there was no light to help you.
"What are you doing here?" At his voice you stopped trying to see who he was.
"I, um..." In your still sleepy state of mind you tried to remember what you were doing there. "I-I came for the princess's wedding celebration."
"That already ended, the sun will be rising soon."
"Oh! I guess I must have fallen asleep while reading these scrolls." You thought out loud.
"You do know that those are important Kou Empire restricted documents."
"I didn't know they were restricted! I just saw them sitting here and without thinking anything about it I started reading. I'm sorry, please don't tell anyone."
His hand's silhouette moved towards the table. "...You enjoyed this? Most people wouldn't."
"Y-yes, it was very interesting. Whoever was reading this before me is probably a really great and smart person!"
"Is that so?"
"Yes, definitely!"
"..."
You waited for a reply. "Hey, are you still here?"
You could see his silhouette but still there was no reply. Before you could complain about him ignoring you, you heard your name being called out. You saw the person in front of you jerk up as if he had just woken up, but there was no way he had fallen asleep standing! You turned your attention to the familiar voice calling out for you.
"Yosuke!" You called back while getting up to find where he was. You felt the person from before grab you wrist. "Um, I have to go."
"Wait a min-" It was too late though, you had already yanked your arm away and started to speedily walk to were Yosuke was calling. You heard the person's footsteps behind you, nevertheless after making a few turns you lost him. You ran a little further and nearly ran right into Yosuke.
"(Name), I've been looking for you!"
"The whole night?"
"I had to escort your parents back, then I immediately ran back over here to look for you. I've been searching for hours."
You remembered your promise to go to the festival with Yosuke the previous night. "Yosuke, I... About the festival, I'm-"
"It's okay. This country has so many festivals. We can go next time."
"B-but, I really feel b-"
"(Name), it seriously alright. We can go next time."
"...alright..." You still felt really horrible about not going with Yosuke. You decided you had to make it up to him. After you both made it back to the house, you went straight to your small dingy room. You couldn't really fall asleep and kept sighing. You were feeling guilty towards Yosuke. It wasn't easy to fall asleep when you would rather being doing something to make up with Yosuke. It didn't matter though, the sun was already rising over the horizon which meant you needed to get to work.
You got up and proceeded to do your daily chores. It didn't take long before you ran into Yosuke, which reminded you that you needed to do something for him.
"Hey, Yosuke?"
"Yeah?"
"Um, I still feel bad about yesterday so, maybe we could go out so I can make it up to you?"
Yosuke blushed a bit and you couldn't help but think he was adorable. You really wanted to pet his fluffy hair right then. He gave a stuttered reply, "s-sure. Th-that would be really great!" His surprised face changed into one of his happy grins.
"If we get our work done really fast we might be able to go tonight!"
"Alright! Let's do it then." He ran off to go do what he needed and you went the opposite direction to where you were supposed to be cleaning.
As you were scrubbing the floor in the main hall you heard gossiping from some of the other maids. You heard them say your name, but you just ignored whatever rumor was going around. You kept cleaning and as you moved closer to the maids their conversation became more audible.
"It's a weird coincidence that they both share the same name." The first one said.
"Yeah, I still can't believe the prince was able to fall in love in one night, much less with someone he couldn't even see."
"I heard he's looking for her to hire her to work in the palace, because 'her brilliance would be wasted elsewhere'. But we all know it something more then that." A third one joined in.
You tried to tune them out, but you found yourself listening and anticipating what they would say next. Even though you tried not to believe rumors they were quite interesting to listen to.
"Still, isn't it interesting that this person he's looking for shares the same name as (Name)?" The second maid brought up.
"Yeah, but that's probably the closest claim to fame (Name) will ever have." The other two shook their heads and laughed. You actually found yourself laughing with them. They looked over at you, they must have thought you couldn't hear them.
"(N-name), we didn't see you there!"
"I agree with what you said earlier," you replied. "It is pretty neat that I share the same name with this mystery girl."
The girls smiled and ended up joining you into their conversation. "Isn't it?"
"I hear that the other (Name) is a fairy, because she was able to disappear when the prince tried to chase after her!"
"Wait, which prince are we talking about?"
"Prince Koumei. He met this girl last night at the celebration, but he didn't get to see her face. All he heard was someone calling her name."
"Wait, why haven't I heard about this?"
"Everyone's talking about it (Name). I can't believe you haven't heard."
All this sounded like what had happened to you last night. But there was no way that person you had met earlier was Prince Koumei. Maybe you should tell Yosuke about this. At that very moment you felt yourself tackled into a bear hug by none other than Yosuke. The maids around you smirked then ran off giggling, probably about to start another rumor.
"(Name)~" he whined out.
You felt yourself blush from the sudden hug. "What is it?"
"I heard the second Prince is looking for you. He wants to take you away!" He fake cried.
"That's just a rumor, Yosuke."
"Yeah, but what if he really is looking for you?"
You let out a little sigh. "Alright, I'll lay low until he finds the other (Name), just incase."
"Thanks (Name)!" Yosuke put a little more pressure on you before letting go. "I don't want some other guy falling in love with you." He said jokingly.
You blushed a little. "What? were you jealous?"
"N-no! I wasn't!" It was Yosuke's turn to blush. He tried to keep eye contact with you but kept looking away.
You giggled a little then tried to reassure him. "Don't worry Yosuke, you're the only one for me."

A/N: Gosh, I hope Koumei's personality is right! I'll take any suggestions to make it more accurate (or maybe I did it perfectly, kol kol kol ^J^).
