Falling for Them (Literally-)
The wind blows around me as I gaze down at Liyue. I was up in the Jade Chamber, sitting on the edge with my feet dangling off. Strangely, I didn't feel scared of falling. Maybe my adventures have made me stronger after all.
"Be careful near the edge, don't want you falling now do we?" Ningguang strolls up behind me. I gaze up at her, her eyes holding a slight glint of mischief.
"Don't worry, I'll be careful. My normal adventures are much more dangerous than this." I glance back at the city, marveling at how busy it always seems. I can feel Ningguang's gaze on me.
"Did you need something?" I look back up at her, making eye contact.
"Yes actually, I wanted to hear about your recent travels. I've been busy lately, as always, but I took the day off since you're back."
"Really? How did you manage to make time in your schedule?"
"I moved a few meetings and had my assistants run some errands for me. Nothing too dramatic. Besides, you're more important than my work." I blush, averting my eyes. Ningguang chuckles softly.
"Alright. Let's head inside though, the wind might make it hard to talk." I get up, using my legs to swing my body around so that my back faces the edge. I stand up, a little wobbly. I adjust my weight, but misjudge where the edge is and topple backwards into thin air.
"Y/N!" Ningguang yells, running to the edge and looking down. I quickly deploy my wind glider, but I know it won't last me long enough to safely reach the ground. I drift further towards the ground, my stamina running low. It finally runs out just as I reach the height of a nearby tree.
I fall, tumbling over myself as I fall through the mess of branches onto the ground. The world spins and I hit the ground, only feeling a flash of pain before I black out.
"Ningguang, she's gonna be okay." I groggily become aware of myself, keeping my eyes closed. I hear the repetitive clicking of Ningguang's heels nearby, and feel a gentle set of hands pressing against my skin.
The pain hits like a ton of bricks, jolting me instantly into full consciousness. My eyes open and I gasp in pain. The woman putting pressure on my wound looks over and realizes I'm awake.
"Oh, they're awake!" Ningguang's heels click and clack as she walks over and sits on a stool nearby.
"Oh thank Rex Lapis. Y/n, can you hear me?" I nod, attempting to lift my hand towards her, but flinching at the pain.
"Careful darling, you took a bad fall!" Concern shadows her face, but she reaches over to touch my hand.
"What happened?" I groggily look at her. Every part of my body aches. I take a deep breath, gasping as sharp threads of pain shoot from my lungs.
"You fell from the Jade Chamber and almost died!" Anxiety shows in her eyes. Her eyes threaten to release tears, but she quickly brushes them away.
"You broke and fractured several bones. You'll need heavy meds and intensive care for at least the next year. Now please stay still so I can properly attach these casts and splints." The doctor explains.
I shut up, holding myself as still as I can. The doctor wraps my injuries before tending to the small cuts on my arms. Each time I flinch Ningguang's expression becomes a little bit more concerned. The doctos finally finishes up before whispering in Ningguang's ear and exiting the room.
"Well, I suppose I should leave you to rest for now. Goodnight, darling."
After that, you went on to heal and spend more time with Ningguang. You enjoyed laughing and talking with her over breakfast. She was always busy with her work, but she made time for you in the mornings and evenings when she was at the Jade Chamber. Most of your days were spent talking with her assistants and indulging in your hobbies. Even after the incident, you still loved to go out on the platforms and gaze down at Liyue Harbor, though you made sure to stay away from the edge.
That is all my darlings <3 Have a wonderful day/night and stay hydrated!
