Breeding Stock Neji ×Reader part 5
You were very depressed. You slept on the floor; you only went to the bathroom to go to the bathroom before lying down again on the floor. Neji watched over you and saw how deeply hurt you were. You wanted to be alone for a week, but in the last three days, you hadn't showered, eaten, or even really moved from the spot on the floor. You hadn't even unpacked your bags yet. Neji was extremely worried about you and didn't know what to do. You wouldn't see anyone after Hinata visited, and you kept the house dark.
Neji could see you due to his Byakugan, and he honestly was going to intervene. He knew he was the last person you wanted to see, but he didn't want this to continue. He felt like it was all his fault, and he deserved the slap; he deserved more than that, especially from you. Hinata got you some flowers, and Neji was asked to deliver them. He stood outside your door and could see you lying on the floor. He put the flowers down on the ground and got out a piece of paper.
He tried to think of something to write you and then realized you might recognize his handwriting. He sighed as he wrote a small message and put it with the flowers. He knocked on the door, and you didn't answer, so he knocked harder, trying to get you off the floor.
"Come on," he said as he knocked louder, making you annoyed enough to get up.
You opened the door and found the flowers. You picked them up and the note. You rolled your eyes but brought them in any way.
You opened the note and looked at the ground sadly.
You got this. - Anonymous
You hated it. You hated you hated yourself. You wanted to cry. You started crying softly, and then you looked down at yourself. You weren't looking like yourself or even acting like yourself. You decided to shower even though it was hard. You cleaned up nicely and even brushed your teeth. You made something to eat and sighed as you looked at the note. You put the note in your bathroom on the mirror and smiled a bit.
"One day at a time," you said.
The next day, Neji saw you walking around with your hair washed and you were eating. The flowers must have worked, and he was happy Might Guy said to get her flowers even though he didn't get them for you. He did, however, bring you some this time. He avoided the flowers Napel got you and put them at your front door. He put another note with the flowers and knocked on your door before bolting. You went to the door and opened it up to see more flowers and another note.
You picked up flowers and saw another note. You opened the note once you got inside and smiled a bit.
"Don't forget to eat. It's important. - Anonymous."
You put that note with the other note and put the flowers with the flowers you got yesterday. It was nice someone cared enough, but you didn't know who. For the rest of the week, you kept getting flowers, and you kept the notes. You weren't a hundred percent, but it was enough. You went to your shop and opened it up. Some of your herbs were dead, but you didn't care much. You started to clean up, and you heard the bell as you were sorting through stuff.
You turned around to see Neji, making you annoyed and completely ignore him.
"I came here to apologize for..." he paused.
"I don't want your apology," you said as he looked at you sadly.
"Look, I wasn't drinking because I was celebrating. I was drinking because I didn't see everything that was going on in front of me, and I should have. Saying I'm sorry doesn't make up for everything I have said to you," he said.
"Then why are you apologizing?!" You asked.
"Because you needed to hear it and I mean it," he said.
"The one thing I learned from the men in my clan and your clan is that they lie if it benefits them. I don't care about your apology as far as I'm concerned; you are lying to me," you said.
"I went to your clan; I wanted to see if they could help you," he paused as you grabbed him by his collar and pinned him against the wall.
"Why?! Like they would do anything to help me! The men have the best lives while we have to work; you know women born into the clan aren't allowed to marry unless you pay a heavy sum. If they want to keep the girls, they increase the price if they don't have the money to marry them. Why would you think they would help me?!" You asked.
"You never talked about them, so I didn't know!" Neji said.
"There are reasons why I never did. If you don't talk about something, it's for a good reason!" You said.
"Well, I know now, and your family got arrested for abuse," he said.
"What?" You asked, shocked as you dropped him.
"They all got arrested, the men anyway. You should have seen how happy those women were. Seven men were arrested for abuse. The women and the kids are the only ones left there now. It's the real reason I came here. I thought you should know," he said as you looked at him oddly.
"I don't believe you," you said.
"I know; go see for yourself or talk to Hinata; she was there," he said as he left the store.
Did you believe Neji? Yeah. Did you not want to? Yeah, because you still held a grudge against him. You held grudges for a long time, but this almost made up for all the times he was a jerk to you. You didn't know why he helped you or why, but you were glad your clan was dealt with. Your brothers were probably arrested out of the bunch and taken into custody. You didn't know what was going to happen to everyone, but you didn't care. It sounded cruel, but no one treated you well there because you were a woman in that clan. You were weak and sick a lot as a baby. Your mother was forced to take care of you, and if it were up to her, you would have been killed like your sisters. You didn't know if he did kill them or was trying to prove to everyone how closely he followed your clan's rules.
The girls in your clan were often sick and didn't make it far, but you were one of the first ones in about two hundred years to reach adulthood. It could have been because of the abuse, the neglect, or it was something else that made them sick. Maybe some were killed at birth as well, but no matter what the reason, you survived it all. Maybe one day you would go back there, just not now.
After cleaning and listing herbs you needed to get from the woods, you headed home. It was a long, quiet walk home, but you made it to your little apartment, and there were flowers laying down near your door with a note.
The stems looked a bit dried out so they must have been there for a while. You picked them up and took them to the vase and opened the note.
"Have a great day at work. Today will be better. - Anonymous.
You smiled a bit thinking about who could be sending you the flowers. You were going through a lot right now, so maybe it was a friend. It was actually unlikely since you didn't have any friends. You liked the notes and the flowers but you had no idea who was sending them or why which made you suspicious. But for now you were going to focus on yourself and not worry about who was sending the flowers.
