You used to be the happiest most outgoing person besides your best friend, but the day he died, you were dull, and you didn't have a heart for anyone. Even after two years after his death, you weren't okay. You stopped smiling, talking, laughing, and celebrating your birthday because it was the same as his. You two were like brother and sister you both slept and ate at each other's house and did everything together. You were riddled with guilt from it, and nothing anyone said made it better for you. His body was never found, so you had to bury your friend without his body, which seemed worse to you. You still talked to him regularly and put fresh flowers on his grave. It should have been you and not him. If he didn't push you out of the way, maybe he would have lived.
Your parents even planned your wedding but the funny thing was he was very interested in men and you knew from a young age. You didn't care about that. All you wanted was your friend. You threw out all your clothing except what he got you, which hung untouched for years. You only wore dull-colored clothing, your suit was dull, and your hair and your eyes were dull. Nothing stood out anymore, and that was the way you wanted it. Once you found out who ordered your best friend to die, you were going to do everything you could to kill him or her. You didn't care about what the right thing to do was you wanted blood, and everything you once held in such high regard was gone. Pain only remained. Your parents were worried so they moved you to a new school because everyone knew why you were like that and left you alone but now they weren't going to.
It was your third year and once the strongest hero at the school, but here you were, who was considered the fourth. You didn't mind the demotion; you thought of it as a blessing because you didn't consider yourself a hero anymore. Your stats were down now instead of being high like they used to be because you weren't trying anymore.
Your stats before were something like this
Strength 6 out of 5
Durability 6 out of 5
Endurance 4 out of 5
Speed 5 out of 5
Agility 3 out of 5
Intelligence 4 out of 5
Communication 4 out of 5
But now everything was down because you couldn't fight. You were just done with everything and didn't have the will to fight.
Your communication went down to zero because you stopped talking in general. Now you were in a new school and everyone was going to talk to you because of how cool you used to be. You went to your classroom and looked for a seat that had your name on it. It was in the front of the class, which already wasn't great. You just stood there and looked at it and decided if you were going to leave the building or not. Your anxiety was already through the roof, just looking at your name on a desk.
You decided to leave the class, but as you decided to leave, you heard a loud voice.
"Hi there!" Mirio said, scaring you, your large white angel wings popped out, making you fall backward at the sudden extra weight.
You tried to catch yourself, but in doing so, a desk went flying through a window, breaking it. Your bag was emptied all over the floor, and all the desks were now in the back instead of even rows. One of the desks hit the ceiling, breaking a couple of lights and the ceiling itself. You summoned your shield to slow the impact, but it destroyed some of the tiles on the floor due to your sheer strength. Now, the classroom was destroyed, and the top three in the third-year class were staring at you, confused and shocked that you caused so much damage.
"Oh my gosh, are you alright?!" Nejire asked, shocked.
Without saying a word, you got up even though you were entangled in the desks and took off running out of the classroom. You didn't know it, but you cut your hand on some glass and got it on Tamaki's shirt as you ran off embarrassed.
"I didn't mean to scare her that bad, I'll clean up the classroom. You two can go find her and see if she's okay," Mirio said as he started cleaning up the mess you made.
You were running down the hallways, and students looked at you confused as you quickly went to the bathrooms. You checked to see if a stall was empty, and instead of sitting down to cry, you stood on the toilet and closed the door. You were hoping that no one would find you here, and you could sneak out of the school somehow. You couldn't do it, and it was stressing you out. Being around people you didn't know, worst of all, they wanted to talk to you. You didn't want to talk to them, and all the people were overwhelming.
"Hey, are you in here?" You heard a female voice ask.
"I can't go in there!" Tamaki said nervously.
"Come on, there aren't any girls around. we can look to see if she's hiding in here. She's bleeding; she needs to go to the hospital to get checked out,"
Nejire said as she dragged him into the bathroom.
"No one's here. Can we go now?" He asked as Nejire saw blood on the floor.
She opened all the bathroom stalls and saw you on the last one standing on the toilet.
"Hey, it's okay, we aren't mad at you. Sorry about Mirio he can be a little loud sometimes. You hurt yourself. Can we take you to the nurse?" She asked as you shook your head no.
You tried to look at them, but you quickly looked down and away as you were hoping they would leave you alone because you were done with this place.
"You remind me of Tamaki here. He's shy, too. It's okay. We just want to help and be your friends," she said as you wished you could go somewhere else instead of being stuck in a bathroom stall with these two.
"You should breathe. Nejire, you might need to go back to class and help Mirio clean. I'll - I'll stay here," he said as his shyness and nervousness started kicking in.
He didn't want to be alone with you in the girls' bathroom for obvious reasons, but you were overwhelmed and needed someone to help you. He wasn't good with people and was shy himself. He was uncertain about his quirk and seemed depressed all the time because he would face the wall due to his anxiety.
"Are you sure?" She asked.
"Yeah... I think," he said as she left to go tell Sniper what was going on.
He stayed there with you, and his anxiety of being alone with you in the girls' bathroom kicked in. He looked away at the floor, then went to the closest wall and faced it. Even though he was just breathing, you looked at him and matched his breathing until you were calmer than you were before. He never asked you if you were ready to leave he was standing there contemplating his whole life.
"Are... are you ready to go yet? I didn't want people to think I'm a pervert," he said as a girl came in, and both of you looked at her as she decided to slowly leave the awkward scene that was before her.
"It's not what It looks like I... damn it," he said as his face turned bright red.
You slowly stepped off the toilet, and he looked at you awkwardly.
"You not talking or saying anything is making me nervous. You think I'm weird, don't you?" He asked.
You shook your hand no but didn't say anything else, making him sigh. He led you to the school nurse, and after him having to do all the talking since you wouldn't speak at all, he decided to hide behind a pillow because you were making him very nervous.
"Why won't you say anything? At least I will miss having to give a presentation. Even if I imagine all those people as potatoes, I still see their human bodies. I still know their people, and I can't say or do anything," he said weakly as he put the pillow down.
You got a notepad and a pen and started writing.
"Sorry, this is what I normally do because I haven't talked to anyone besides my parents in two years. I am not a people person anymore, and you don't weird me out. I probably would have run out of the school if you weren't there. Thank you. It's funny how no one recognizes me anymore, " you wrote then gave it to him.
"Did you used to go here?" He asked.
"No, my hero's name is Valkery," you wrote, then gave it back to him.
He thought for a moment, trying to think of where he heard that name before. It seemed so familiar to him, and then he remembered a tragic event that cost a hero's life. It was horrible, especially because it could have been prevented if there were more heroes in the area. But no one showed up until it was all over and done with.
"You fought at Monster two years ago. Tons of people died, including a hero named Blue Speed. It was all over the news. You don't look like how you used to," he said as you nodded.
Your hair was a dull gray instead of a bright white due to your depression and your loss of willpower. Even your armor crumbled when you tried to summon it because you had nothing left to fight for. When the fight was over, your right wing was broken, and your armor was shattered. You were standing on a crumbled building that had a hundred people in it. There were no survivors besides you, and all you could do was hear people cursing your name after you made a single mistake. You froze just for a second, but it cost your best friend's life. All the people were already dead, and there was nothing you or Blue Speed could do. When people from your school and other schools came, it was too late, and you walked off the battlefield broken. People still called you a hero and wanted interviews and barely put anything out that Blue Speed died fighting because of you.
"He was my best friend, when he died I died too. People expect too much from us. But it's because our quirks are supposed to be hero-worthy. My quirk doesn't even work anymore because that fight took everything I had. My parents thought moving me would be a good idea, but I just wanted to leave. I already hate it here because everyone will want to talk to me,'' You wrote then gave it to him to read.
"They wanted to see if moving will fix your Quirk," he said as you nodded.
"I'm not a hero, not anymore. Everything was my fault. If I didn't freeze at the last second, maybe I would be dead instead of him. Once I graduate, I'm never using my powers again. My powers were never hero-worthy, Blue Speed or Leon. His power was amazing he was the brains while I was the muscle. Together, we were strong apart. I'm useless. I think now looking at it, I think everyone blamed me for his death," you wrote, then gave it to him to read.
The bell rang, and you both looked at each other.
"Starting over can be a good thing, I remember being the new kid here. I think you would like Mirio. He may be eccentric at times or over-stimulating with his positivity, but I think you would. He was the first person to talk to me here. You did everything you could for your friend. You may have frozen, but one of you was going to die no matter what, or both of you. If he was alive, I think he would be like you right now. There is no time limit to mourn the loss of a friend. If it takes you years, then it takes years. You must have been a very close pair. My name is Tamaki, and the girl her name is Nejire. They will probably hang out with you at lunch or try to," he warned as he looked at the floor nervously.
You two started to head back to class, and when you got there, everything was fixed, but the floor, the light, and the window. Sniper made you stand in front of the class while Tamaki went to his seat.
"This is Y/n L/n, also known as Valkery. Would you like to tell everyone a little about yourself?" He asked as you froze in terror.
Your stuff was already in your bag next to the wall. You didn't know what to say or do, so you turned and faced the wall. You were frozen with fear, and several people were staring at you. You wished you got away when you had the chance to.
"Okay, how about you sit next to Tamaki, everyone, get in groups of four to start your project," he said you were a bit confused but realized that he must have explained what you were supposed to do earlier but you were late to class. You sat next to Tamaki, and immediately, several guys wanted to talk to you, you slowly sank in your chair, trying to get away from them because, for some reason, they wanted you in their group. They probably thought your shyness was cute, but you were trying to avoid people like the plague.
You finally slid out of your seat and went to the corner of the room because you were getting overwhelmed, and you wanted to be left alone.
"Want to be in our group? Sorry about earlier, I heard we were getting someone new. I got a bit excited," Mirio said awkwardly as he stood next to you by the wall.
You shook your head no, but he just smiled at you.
"Come on! We need a fourth person! It's okay if you're shy, me and I can do all the talking," he smiled as you were trying to get away from him because his happiness was overwhelming, especially after what you did to the classroom.
As soon as he realized you weren't leaving the corner, they moved their desks to you, making you look at them confused because they weren't taking the hint.
"Tamaki is like this sometimes, too! It's okay if you want to do this part at home you can. Or when you're ready, you can join us. It's hard to make friends when you're new, but don't worry, you already got us!" Nejire smiled as you faced the corner again.
You hated it, but at the same time, after a couple of minutes, you realized they weren't going to leave you alone beside Tamaki, so you decided to join them after ten minutes of being in the corner
Little did you know that giving them the chance was the best thing you were ever going to do in your life.
