Ch10: K-2
(Kallen POV - Ashford Academy - Next Day)
"So how is life at your dear old school." Ohgi asked over the phone, getting me to sigh.
"Boring, had history class yesterday." I said while shaking my head. "Are you sure that I can't become back now. Look maybe there is something more I can do than wait around here?"
"The army is on high alert and we have just relocated everything away from where they are currently searching for us. Just lie low for now until everything cools off here." Ohgi said.
"Can't exactly lie low when K-2 said he'll be in contact with me." I said while shaking my head. "By the way have we found out how he contacted you?"
Wouldn't be lying to find out that it was quite a shock to find out K-2 had managed to find Ohgi's number yesterday or that he most likely found out how I was here. I know he said it would be sometime before he would try and find me, but I didn't expect a whole day!
Kind of hoping that it wasn't Tamaki blotching things again...
"No, I made sure and had others double check. We still have no idea how K-2 was able to do that. And don't think that just because he implied that you were at Ashford Academy you can just leave." Ohgi said, getting me to frown.
Damn it.
"You are starting to sound a lot like Naoto." I said irritably.
"I'll take that as a complement." Ohgi said, getting me to sigh.
Of course he would.
"Anyway what to do with K-1?" I asked him.
Unlike K-2, no one has heard from whoever they were since Shinjuku. And there was that student from yesterday...
"Kallen don't go chasing after voices, try to ask K-2 on the matter but that is all I'm going to say. Naoto would be happy that you are back in school right now. Just until they stop mentioning what happened in Shinjuku on the news stay in Ashford. I'll be sure to contact you soon." Ohgi said, ending the call.
I let out an irritated sigh as I closed my phone.
Why did he have to be right.
No matter, there wasn't much to do here while pretending to be a sickly girl. How much I despised playing this role infront of my 'friends' here or just in general.
Yet it was more than necessary especially with all the attention on us and Shinjuku right now.
Still that boy from yesterday...he had said for me to not to tell anyone about Shinjuku all of a sudden and looked surprised when I knew...that and his voice did sound familiar...
While Ohgi said for me not to investigate the voice, but this was a potential security risk.
One of which that I needed to investigate before I could properly deal with him if he does know my identity.
(Lelouch POV - A pn hour and a half later)
Milly has everything prepared and looking at Y/N he nodded as I smiled.
Time to begin.
From the corner of my eye I seen her staring at me with her intent quite known. Or rather barely disguised. Either through hiding her gaze with her bangs or a small mirror hidden in the lid of her pencil case.
A rudimentary and simple yet effective method if I have to say so myself.
Still Kallen was seizing myself up, if I didn't confront her first she will make her move.
I would rather not see if her piloting skills transferred to any other aspects in her life at the moment.
With everything in place all Kallen needed to do was take the bait.
Getting up from my seat I approached her and a group of girls that I presume were 'friends' with her sickly persona. Slowly only when I saw Shirley approaching me.
"Hey Lulu, later could you-" "Sorry, maybe later." I said, cutting her off as I walked past her. Ignoring her expression as I saw Y/N get up from his seat.
We are most likely going to have words about this, again.
I just shook my head as the group of girls surrounding and asking Kallen questions began to silence while I drew nearer. They began to crowd towards behind her and making space for me, Kallen's mask slipping a bit as she gave me an inquisitive gaze.
"Can you come with me for a minute? There is something that I wish to talk to you about." I said, getting muttering from the girls surrounding Kallen to mutter.
Kallen didn't hesitate as she stood up, her facade once again slipped as we made eye contact.
"Sure, I thought that you would ask me that." Kallen said, getting gasps and muttering all around.
Internally I sighed as I knew this was going to happen, it will take some time to quash any rumors that start up.
"Alright clam down." Y/N said, getting their attention as me and Kallen beginning to slip away.
"So where to?" Kallen asked.
"The student council ballroom, no one should disturb us there." I said, leading the way and careful to leave my guard down around her.
Kallen just nodded as we walked, myself hiding my grin.
She had taken the bait, everything was going according to plan so far. Just need to wait for Y/N's part...and plan around whatever madness Milly could possibly bring.
(Y/N POV - Two Minutes Later)
Alright I think that they have calmed down enough, once I assured the girls that this was just Student Council business and that Kallen would be alright that they calmed down.
Thank God none of them were Lelouch fan girls...dealt with enough for a lifetime.
Still I think Shirley being here helped sell the idea. But now that she looked kind of sad. She was trying to ask him something again.
I mean that it was for the plan, but he could have at least heard her out first.
"You know that this was part of the plan, Milly said for the element of surprise for Kallen. Everyone else should be getting ready." I said, getting her to nod. "He could have been a little less rude."
"It's alright Y/N." Shirley said, getting me to sigh at that.
"Well was there anything in particular you wanted to ask Lelouch?" I said, getting Shirley to clamp up before I shook my head. "Do you want to talk about it Shirley?"
"Maybe later." Shirley said, getting me to nod.
"Okay you know that you can always talk to me if you need anything." I said, getting Shirley to nod with a small smile.
"I know, you keep saying that." Shirley said.
"And the offer always stands if you just wish to talk, sometimes it's just good to get things off your chest." I said, getting her to nod.
"Of course." Shirley said as we exited the classroom and went into the hall. She looked away for a bit before nodding. "Mind if I come with you to get Nunnally?"
"Not at all, she is looking forward to help Milly after all. Besides I'm sure that she'll be happy for you to be around." I said, getting Shirley to nod happily as we walked down the hall.
(Kallen POV - Student Council Ballroom - 25 minutes later)
I followed who I suspect to be K-1 or who I asked my 'friends' to be Lelouch, the Vice President of the Student Council. Couldn't be bothered with any other details. Except he probably noticed me watching him.
Definitely saw that white haired boy I glimpsed yesterday notice.
Did he know too or suspect something? I'll figure out after I deal with him.
He lead me to the Student Government Building. Only it wasn't a clubhouse, it was a damned mini palace!
Seriously these Britannians, how extravagant they could be never ceases to surprise me...
We entered the ballroom, seriously even the ballroom looked like it belonged in a palace before we came to a stop.
"Here we are, I believe you didn't know Ashford had a place like this on campus?" Lelouch said, getting me to shake my head.
"I didn't." I said, could have gone my entire life without knowing.
"The clubhouse was built with the use of the student council in mind. Made large enough to hold events and balls in here and quite secure as well." Lelouch said, getting me to nod.
"So there should be no interruptions then." I said, getting Lelouch to nod.
"That's right." Lelouch said.
"Except from the student council that is." A voice said, our attention turning to the stairs to see the white haired student from earlier. Smiling and waving as he walked towards us. "Sorry about this, but have any of you two seen a data chip around here?"
What was going on here, I thought he said...
Wait except the student council.
"Found it!" Someone else called out, looking up onto the second floor to see a girl with long orange hair holding something in her hand soon joined by one with short dark green hair and glasses and a blue haired boy too. "Isn't this what you are looking for?"
"Yes this is it! The experimental data." The green haired girl said as she was handed the chip.
"Welp glad you got it back Nina." The whited haired boy said as he got to the bottom of the stairs. "Sorry about that Lelouch."
These were all members of the student council, why had Lelouch lead me here if they were to appear?
"It is alright Y/N." Lelouch sighed out as he faced me. "Apologies Kallen, I would have explained everything sooner if we had time to talk."
"Seems like the element of surprise is out the window." Someone said as the large doors to the ballroom opened automatically, a blond haired girl in a frilled blue apron pushed a cart loaded with plates of food in. "No matter, I'm done with all of this anyway. So let's begin!"
"Looks amazing!" The blue haired boy said as the three of them began to come down the stairs.
"As expected of Milly." The orange haired girl said while clasping her hands.
"Seems like you blew it out of the park once again Milly." Y/N said as he began to help Milly spread the plates on tables. Getting her to chuckle a little.
"Feel free to praise me more." Milly said as I looked at the scene happening incredulously.
Wait, that was Milly Ashford? The school's heir and the Student Council President? Heard a lot of rumors of her antics from my 'friends', but they were probably blown out of proportion like they usually were.
Still hate to admit, the food she made did look good.
Yet I needed to get some answers here.
"Excuse me, can you please tell me what is happening." I asked, getting Milly to smile as she set a large pot on the table.
"Gladly, we are going to add you to the student council Kallen. My grandfather specifically suggested it due to your physicality normal club activities would be difficult for you." Milly said, surprising me. "That and Y/N's and Shirley's concern helped weigh in on the decision. Lelouch was supposed to tell you."
"Really now?" I said, looking at Lelouch while trying to hide my frustration.
Was all of this just an attempt to get me to join the student council...no there had to be something more going on here.
Granted maybe it was part of the reason, been avoiding the rules about students being apart of a club for my entire time here. I suppose it was only a matter of time until the chairman or someone caught onto what was happening.
But there had to be something else going on with Lelouch, he knew about Shinjuku.
I needed to find out what.
"I meant to, yet it seems like I did not account for you being early for once." Lelouch said, looking pointedly at Milly.
Only getting Milly to smile.
"Well I aim to please." Milly said before facing me. "Anyway my name is Milly, the Student Council President. It is nice to meet you."
"Oh, it's nice to meet you too." I said as the three other members from earlier ran down and joined with Y/N.
"I'm Rivalz, the secretary! If you have any questions feel free to ask me!" The blue haired boy said.
"I'm Shirley, I'm also a part time member of the swim team. It's nice to meet you." The orange haired girl said.
"I-I'm Nina." The green haired girl introduced rather shyly.
"Anyway I'm Y/N, if you need help with anything feel free to ask." Y/N said.
"Nice to meet you all." I said, seizing them up.
For the most part they just seemed like your 'average' Britannia students, well this Nina seemed especially skittish. Yet there was an outlier much like Lelouch if my suspicions were right, Y/N.
He had a scar on his cheek, something unless they were trained as a knight or something no self respecting Britannia noble especially one student age would show it or even have one.
More focused on keeping up appearances and all that shit.
And the way he seemed to carry himself he at least was trained in combat...and his voice sounded familiar too...
Someone else to keep an eye on.
"Um, Shirley, Y/N? Can one of you please help me put this on the table please?" Someone else said as they came through the opened doors. To my surprise it was a girl in a mechanized wheelchair that pushed itself along, holding some bins with a plateful of pastries on top. Judging by her appearance she was probably blind as well.
She seemed to be in middle school too, why was she here?
"I've got her." Shirley said before walking over to help the girl. "Thank you Nunna."
"Nunnally you're here too?" Lelouch asked, surprising me for a moment at his tone of voice.
Naoto adopted a similar tone of voice whenever I would try to sneak after him all the time when I was younger. Granted he always caught me before eventually bring me along.
Still, could they be-
"Lelouch is Nunnally older brother if you were wondering." Y/N said, breaking me out of my thoughts.
"I'm still in middle school, so I'm not really a member of the student council." Nunnally said.
"I'm sure that you'll become a member soon." Rivalz said, Nina nodding as they went to help out.
"Kallen it's nice to meet you." Nunnally said while smiling, getting my to smile at her.
"Nice to meet you too." I said with a genuine smile.
Nunnally nodded as Lelouch and Y/N went to help set up the food.
Looks like I won't be able to find out anything about him for now, just need to wait for another chance soon.
(A few minutes later)
Hate to admit it, the food looked good yet still hadn't had a chance to separate one of them. Although Y/N and Lelouch now stood back from the central table where the other members of the council gathered.
Rivalz placing down onto a table...was that champagne?
Wait it was, I recognized the brand. The cheating harlot has plenty of it stocked up for 'guests'.
"How about we make this celebration official by starting with a toast!" Rivalz said, trying to open the champagne bottle.
"Wouldn't this be bad for the student council to be doing this?" Nina asked.
"Now, now there is no need to be so uptight." Rivalz said before Shirley tried to make a grab for the bottle out of his hands. "Hey!"
"You know that this is not allowed!" She said as they began to struggle for it.
With Nunnally just looking in confusion as Milly handed her a glass I guess was filled with juice.
Still the sight was quite amusing before Rivalz threw the bottle away.
"Lelouch pass!" He called out, throwing it to the Vice President.
He struggled to catch it while looking in surprise before Shirley pushed down Rivalz and rushed forward trying to grab it.
"Lulu I'm not going to let you have it so easily!" Shirley said, trying to make a reach for it. Causing Lelouch and her to fall down.
The cork dislodged and shot towards me.
I swatted at it, only for someone to catch it before my hand could reach the cork.
"Nice reflexes." Y/N said with a smile, before frowning as the champagne shot out began to fall on us.
This is why I hate Britannians...
After a few moments it stopped, but now both him and I where doused in champagne. Me more so than him.
"What's going on?" Nunnally asked as the rest of the room stared at us in surprise.
I looked around the room until my gaze met Y/N, before we both glared at the start of this whole mess who took a step back.
(Lelouch POV - Same Time)
Rivalz is going to have to watch his back in the near future, from the both of them.
Still I did not account for these chain of events, but we could use it to our advantage...
(15 minutes later)
I walked with two bundles of folded clothes in my arms, seeing Y/N standing outside of the bathroom door. He still looked drenched and even smelled like it.
"Apologies about that Y/N." I said, getting him to wave me off.
"It's alright. I'll figure out a way to get back at Rivalz, or just make him think I will for a while before calling the matter water under the bridge. Maybe the latter would be more effective." Y/N mused out quietly while I nodded.
"Personally I would go for the second choice. Sayoko in position?" I inquired.
"Dial her number and we are good." Y/N sighed out before shaking his head. "If things go wrong or physical I'll handle it. Still are you sure about this?"
"Wouldn't be otherwise." I said, getting Y/N to nod before he knocked on the door.
"Who is it?" Kallen asked.
"It's Y/N, Lelouch brought use two sets spare clothes to change into. Mind if we bring them in?" Y/N asked.
There was a few moments of silence before he got an answer.
"Come in, I have the curtains drawn." Kallen said, getting the Y/N to nod as he opened the door to let me in first.
Before the both of us looked anywhere but directly at the shower. Going to need to ask Sayoko to install more opaque shower curtains in this bathroom. Pretty sure this was Milly's idea.
"Sorry about that, they can be a lively bunch at times. You should know Y/N as you're usually with Milly leading the charge." I said, smirking a little as he just sighed.
"Low blow yet somewhat true Lelouch." Y/N shot back with a smile. "Sorry that you had to get caught up in it too."
"It's okay. It's not too bad to have mindless entertainment like that from time to time." Kallen said as I placed the clothes in the hamper.
"The spare clothes are mine, the top half of the pile are for you if you don't mind Kallen?" I asked as I began to take a few steps back.
"I don't care at all, still you managed to get them from the male dorms pretty quickly." Kallen said.
So she was attempting to prod now, with Y/N starting to get into position.
"I live here with Nunnally, with her condition it would make living in the dormitories difficult. We have special permission from the chairman to live here." I said as I moved to the door.
"I see..." Kallen said as I approached the the door.
"Now I should take my leave now. If you need anything else use the landline or ask Y/N." I said before walking out the door.
"Wait!" Karen called out, getting me to stop and reach into my pocket as Y/N began to approach the shower.
Quickly dialing Sayoko before canceling the call, this should alert her.
Kallen's hand stuck out of the curtain and pointed to the pink pouch that laid out on the sink.
"Before you go could you please give that pouch to me." Kallen said.
"I'll get it Lelouch, I'm closer to it. That is if you don't mind?" Y/N said as he grabbed the pouch and I noticed Kallen's shadow behind the curtain began to still.
Seems she did not expect that, assessing the situation and adapting to it from nodding.
"Alright fine, just don't try anything." Kallen said as Y/N handed the pouch to her. Looking away with his back to the wall as I walked out of the room. Waiting just outside of the doorframe.
The events was not exactly going to how we originally planned, but the scenario was falling to place almost perfectly. Just need to wait for Sayoko.
(Kallen POV - Same)
Okay things were not going exactly to plan, but I can make this work.
Y/N knew something too, wasn't exactly sure how much but he did know something.
Just have to find out how to get Lelouch next, but I should get some answers
"Here you go." Y/N said as his hand reached into the curtain, clutching the pouch in his hand.
"Thank you." I said, before smacking his hand to get him to drop it.
He barely reacted to it outside of wince before I grabbed his wrist and applied pressure.
"Good grip, although it was you who said not to try anything." Y/N said, with me getting frustrated before shifting the pouch with his fingers. "Weren't you asking for this?"
He was messing with me, wasn't he.
Still if I press on it the way he was holding the pouch, I could easily impale his palm. Did he know that or not? Better not to test it out.
"Thanks." I said, grabbing the pouch yet still not letting go. "What do I know about Shinjuku?"
"Quite a bit, I was actually there that day." Y/N said, getting my eyes to widen as I peered through the curtain. "No need for the knife or the threats, have to say not a bad method of concealing it."
He knew, he knew about Shinjuku!
He just straight up admits even knowing it at knifepoint!
Didn't seem all that bothered by it, I've been so focused on Lelouch I had nearly missed him!
Yesterday when I was confronted Lelouch he was there, his voice sounding familiar today, and his comment on my reflexes! He knew!
Still Y/N was just standing there with my grip on him and knowing I had a knife yet admitting it! Either he is really that confident that he can make it out of this situation...or he was expecting this...
Okay I might be able to make this work.
"You really mean that?" I inquired as I started to hear a ringing coming from the bathroom. "Is that your phone?"
"No it is not and I really mean that." Y/N said as the ringing continued. "It is up to you if you believe it or not Kallen. I'll talk but without the use of a knife. Besides now is not the time or place for such a talk. Lelouch just left and with the landline going off he is bound to comeback here or someone else will notice. And I believe you don't want to be caught in a compromising position like this."
I felt my face heat up at his last words.
Shit hate to admit it, but he's right!
Damned Britannias, why does there have to be a phone right next to the shower...oh wait never mind that one.
"Fine, just do it!" I said, letting him go as I still clutched the pouch.
Y/N just nodded and reached for the phone.
"I'll explain once you're done and dried off." Y/N said as he reached for the phone.
"What's going on here?" Lelouch said as I peaked through the corner of the curtains to see him enter the bathroom.
"Don't know, phone started to ring and nearly stubbed my toe on that stool again." Y/N said, getting Lelouch to sigh.
"Next time try to be more aware of your surroundings." Lelouch said. "I apologize for all of this Kallen."
"It's fine, couldn't be helped I take for it." I said, partially being truthful and thankful he wasn't here a moment ago.
Still I will get some answers soon enough.
"Hello, Ashford Academy Student Council." Y/N said as he answered the phone. Nodding at the caller before handing the phone to me. "It's for you."
What?
"He said, that you would know." Y/N said.
I stared at the phone for a moment before taking it. Looking to see Y/N walk away from the shower and began to say something as I pressed the phone against ear.
"Hello?" I inquired.
"It is good to hear that you are alright Q-1." The caller said, getting my eyes to widen at the voice.
K-1.
It was his voice.
Looking past the curtain I could see Y/N still talking to Lelouch before he began to leave. He was right here and talking with Y/N...
"I take that this a bad time Q-1?" K-1 said, getting me to shake my head.
"Kind of is." I said as Lelouch left the bathroom and Y/N began to follow him.
I was wrong, while Lelouch and K-1 sounded similar the former I can now hear a difference and between them. That and he was just right here as K-1 was talking.
Plus there was his sister Nunnally, while it was only briefly I seen how much he and the council cared for her. Considering her condition it was kind of touching, and he reminded me of Naoto. That and taking care of her would probably be prioritized over anything else.
Naoto would probably do the same...
"Then I shall be brief, tomorrow at 16:00 meet me at the viewing platform at the ex-Tokyo Tower. Bring Ohgi and those you two can trust, K-2 will meet you on the train there. If you have any other questions other than that feel free to ask him. Otherwise keep an eye on the news, the truth should be revealed soon." K-1 said as I pulled the phone back.
"What did you both do?" I yelled, only to get a click from the line hanging up. Holding back from growling in frustration.
Damn it, he hung up on me!
"Believe me it is better for you to hear on the news, Q-1." I heard Y/N said, getting me to stiffen as I looked to see him leaning against the doorway.
It couldn't be...
"Fukuyama, is that your true last name?" I asked, narrowing my eyes.
"Not quite, don't know my grandfather's family name and he took my grandmother's once he married her. Yet that's what I hold prefer to be called." Y/N said, getting me to look at him with a glare before sighing as he looked away.
So I was half right about something.
Y/N was K-2 and he was part Japanese like myself.
I kind of expected more...
"By the way Kallen I could see you." Y/N said as he began to walk out the doorway.
Wait what did he mean by that-
I yelled as I closed the curtain and curled up behind it, crossing my arms and I felt my face heating up.
"Apologies, how about we forget about this and I'll explain when you're done." Y/N said.
"Yes, let's!" I said as I heard the door closed behind him.
That was embarrassing... I swear if he brings this up...
Still I was half right on both of my suspicions, so that was how he planned on contacted me directly.
And I could finally get some answers.
(Y/N POV - Same Time)
Things could have gone better yet it seemed like she was willing to listen, without the use of a knife that is.
Honestly taking a big risk with this, but I have committed to it already. Saving the use of Geass for a last resort.
Probably only got one shot of this and I would like to not use it.
Also pondering why any female Knightmare pilot I've meet so far is beautiful. Granted the number is small, but seriously. Nope best not to think about it and prepare for retaliation.
Before seeing Lelouch walk up to me with a smirk on his face, getting me to frown.
"Not a word Lulu, not a word." I sighed out.
"Why, this is such a rare opportunity." Lelouch said.
"I give you a centimeter and you take a freaking kilometer." I said blandly.
"You do the same for me all the time." Lelouch said, to which I raised my hands in surrender.
"Fair enough." I said while shaking my head. "I think that she has bought it and Sayoko has thrown her off your trail. That and Nunnally, didn't expect that."
"I thought so, but I didn't count on her wanting to assist Milly or you bringing her along. Then again it is something she would have done." Lelouch said with a small smile. "I take it that you are going to be upfront with her."
"Mostly, not using Geass unless necessary and trusting her on what to do with the information. Might also get decked but that will be 50/50 I'm sure," I said, getting Lelouch to nod.
"Might be earlier than you think, well the odds of her trusting you." He sighed out. "Heard and check from Sayoko there was some commotion in the Tokyo Settlement with Kinightmares involved yet no word of terrorists. A disputing most likely."
"After Shinjuku it was bound to happen especially since we Geassed the entire bridge. You think they finally found a scapegoat?" I asked.
"It is possible if they hadn't already, if not they will probably broadcast they have one within the hour to show the public a united front to hide the disputing for now. I will check the news, you handle Kallen." Lelouch said.
"Got it, that and getting the champagne out of my hair. Please call on the landline if anything happens and I'm not there." I said before turning around.
"I will and Y/N..." Lelouch said, getting me to stop in my tracks. "Save it for later tonight. Any grief you have can wait for then, Nunnally will need us."
"Got it." I sighed out as we walk away from each other.
Nunnally loved most of our siblings, she will not take the news well. Perhaps better than Lelouch thought but she will need us.
Today is the today...honestly if Lelouch believes it he is probably right.
They could not hide the news of regicide for long.
Things are bound to change in Japan as it had grown quite restless after Shinjuku and news of Clovis's death with kick the hornet's nest. Followed by whatever performance Lelouch will come up with will shake up the empire.
It's been years since a member of the imperial family truly died and that had been Hannes gua Britannia on the E.U. front...fucking sicko.
Me and Lelouch would not make clear to Nunnally what was found when his entire camp was found dead. Our father disinherited him posthumously and did away with his mother, bloody harpy never liked any of us anyway.
But he had been killed in the war like several of our older half-siblings.
Yet given Clovis had been killed in Shinjuku like he did and if word even get's out about his supposed cover it will only create more chaos.
Everything was going to change and they needed to be prepared for what could happen. I'll tell Kallen after seeing if they will release the news of what happened first. Will make everything more believable afterwards.
Now to see if Kallen had finished soon...and hoped not to be hit for it.
(A few minutes later)
I waited in the hall before the bathroom door open, Kallen wearing the clothes Lelouch provided.
Things were silent for a moment before I sighed out.
"So should I call you Kallen or Kōzuki, whichever you prefer?" I asked as Kallen seemed to ponder it for a few moments before shrugging.
"Whichever you want, I was going to ask you something similar." Kallen said while shaking her head. "So you're half Britannian then too."
"5\8's actually, my grandfather I said was half Britannian." I said, internally sighing as there seemed to be no retaliation for now. "You have been doing this for quite a while now?"
"Three years, though it has mainly being helping with supplies." Kallen said while shaking her head. "You though have been in here for much longer."
"Got it in one, although actively really just raiding for supplies for the past three years with my sensei alongside a few other incidents to make the Britannian's life difficult. Plus leaving some supplies to other resistance cells in the ghettos every now and than." I said, getting her to nod.
"I think I remember one, Naoto found a cache a few blocks from our base back in February. We couldn't find out who gave us it, took us a while before we could use them without worrying the whole thing was a trap." Kallen said, getting me to nod.
Well that lined up before the last time we were around Shinjuku before the battle.
"Glad I was able to help there then, heard about what happened to your brother. Wished that I could have met him." I said honestly, getting Kallen to nod.
"He probably would have liked to meet you too." She said before shaking her head and gaining a determined look. "Anyway you promised to explain."
"I did and I'll answer most of them, ask away." I said to Kallen with a smile.
"Just who is K-1 and why did you both help us out in Shinjuku? Especially you, you told Ohgi that you were a member of the JLF for a few years. Yet you're around my age." Kallen said with a huff.
"About 5 months older according to what the school's records show. And before you ask first consider Milly earlier." I said as Kallen opened her mouth before closing it. "And about K-1, I don't know their true identity."
Which was partially true, I don't know if Lelouch considers himself Lamperouge, vi Britannia, or whatever he chooses his new identity to be.
"You don't and you said you call them your partner." Kallen said.
"I do, worked with them for quite a while now. Helped to build up resources and probably one of the smartest people I know yet. K-1 is someone I can trust and he allows me question and help improve orders and plans for a greater benefit. But there is one thing I can make clear to you Kallen." I said before gaining a determined expression. "Both of us had survived and seen the horrors of the Second Pacific War and have lost the one we loved the most to Britannia one way or another. We wish to see them gone from Japan and more. One thing I know is that there are few more than him that wish to see Britannia torn to the ground."
So much so I actually was worried about it sometimes after his little declaration after the war. Calmed down somewhat, but his disdain for Britannia still held strong.
Kallen gained a hardened look to her eyes before nodding.
"Something both of us have in common. I can get behind that somewhat as long as he doesn't hide in the back." Kallen said, getting me to nod.
"Don't have to worry about that, he is a lead by example type. If he doesn't participate directly how else can expect for others to follow. Maybe not on the direct frontlines but he will join in to help fight and lead." I said.
At least that seemed to appease her somewhat.
"Then what about you and the JLF?" Kallen asked, getting me to smile.
"Actually lived with an officer for the most part a year before the war, was forced to fend for myself during it and sometime afterwards. Actually met him after nearly being killed by a patrol of Britannians who got their kicks from gunning down children." I said, tracing the scar on my cheek. "And yes they suffered."
"Glad to hear it, dealt with enough of this damned idiots either with Naoto or scavenging for parts of the Glasgow. So what did you do?" Kallen asked.
"Served as a spy or scout." I said before seeing her disbelieving look. "They were a lot less organized back then and there was only a few like me. Besides it was easy enough to blend into Britannia territory."
"They would only assume you were a lost kid at most, seems like most Britannians can't keep quite their accomplishments. More often than not I had some kid brag about activity their family is doing and I could warn everyone if it concerned us." Kallen said dryly as she shook her head. "Just about the only real benefit by playing sickly, not many people pay attention to you unless they truly cared."
It seems like she did understand somewhat.
"Wasn't the only one but long story short all were phased out after two years, things were becoming too dangerous." I said, pulling down my shirt and Kallen winced at the bullet scar before I quickly covered it up. "Long story short spent another year as a refugee before coming to Ashford, known Milly since before I came to Japan. And seen some things haven't changed at all."
Began to fish into my pockets and was thankful that I mainly got champagne in my hair. That and I had it placed into a waterproof bag.
Throwing the bag into the air before Kallen caught it and began to inspect it.
"If you are wondering that type of thumb drive the JLF used to store information, two types per spy cell. One for carrying information and the other as a nasty trap. They did the same thing when I was with them and I can only assume their cell in Tokyo was wiped out. For this drive is entrusted with one member will to stake their lives...unfortunately the member they chose was a thug in uniform a few days ago." I said, a look of realization dawning on Kallen's face.
"We heard of an incident where a JLF member held a teen hostage on a train, being a runner that attack a general. Honestly we thought that it was just more propaganda...but with this." Kallen said before examining it.
"Yeah it was there, he dropped it and I swiped it...didn't help I was that hostage." I said, ignore Kallen's surprised look. "The guy didn't recognize me and yes it was ridiculous. Anyway on the drive is information that is practically useless now except a few things and an olive branch." I said, getting Kallen to look at it some more before pocketing it.
"Do you expect me to believe this hasn't been tampered with too." Kallen said.
"I was never the best with programming or hacking, can't even understand how to properly do the latter. Not afraid to admit it." I said, and judging from Kallen's look she was too. "Swiping it also revealed your plans."
I took in a deep breath as Kallen frowned and shook her head.
"Could have been a good one if things have gone better. I'm happy what were able to do in Shinjuku to Britannia, but no matter what it would have in a slaughter wouldn't it?" Kallen said while balling her fists. "If we planned better-"
"Then things could have gone worse, my and K-1 got involved as it could have lead to a slaughter. No plan survives first contact with the enemy, what you can do about this is learn from your mistakes to make sure that the chances of it happening again are minute." I said sighed out before shaking my head.
With Kallen letting out a frustrated sigh as she nodded, probably something she has heard before. Considering our...I'll just settle on occupation, our occupation it's a saying that should be remembered as part of the cost to take into consideration.
"That and the Kōzuki Resistance Cell was the perfect catalyst to finally begin. Even if the plan didn't work or not things would have change, they are right now. For three years we've been scrounging out resources to start and fund a revolution. And after what we did we are closer than ever to start making some real change." I said with a smile. "Now Kallen, tell me how did it think to finally win."
I got my answer at how wide Kallen's grin was.
"It feels so satisfying, the Japanese has never had a victory like that since the war. We have never won a battle against those damned Britannians since the Miracle of Itsukushima." Kallen said before she trailed off with a small smile. "We humiliated a member of the Royal Family, buried dozens of knights, evacuated hundreds of people, and you and K-1 managed to have Clovis of all people declare a ceasefire. In the beginning I didn't think it would be possible, but it was."
"And I can't promise you it will be victorious all the time, there is a long road ahead for us. But we have long known and chosen this path." I said to Kallen with a sigh, before smiling and looking at her directly in the eyes. "But with all of us we actually have a chance liberate Japan. Things are already set in motion and K-1 informed me that within the hour what we did will be broadcasted. What happened in Shinjuku is only the beginning. You, Ohgi, and the others probably have every reason to not trust us outside of yesterday, but I would nothing better to fight with you all again."
Meaning every word about it as I made clear to Lelouch. The Kōzuki cell and especially Kallen, she was one hell of a Knightmare pilot and someone I would trust with my back.
Really hoping that she would accept.
Kallen seemed to ponder my words for a few minutes before sighing.
"Hate to agree with Tamaki, but you are right that I don't fully trust the both of you." She said before grinning. "Still I can count on you to help crush Britannians in battle. And as you said this is only the beginning."
Well that was just around what expect this to go. Not as good as I hoped, but it's a good start.
"Fair enough, anyway I'm going to take a shower before my hair starts to reek of champagne for a while. And if you are wondering about the Sutherland I promised, just need to still get the crimson paint and an extra feature installed." I said as I began to walk past her.
"I was wondering about that, anyway yeah it is starting to get really bad." Kallen said with a frown.
"Thought so." I said, taking another step before stopping. "You should also know that Lelouch was in the truck in Shinjuku. He was with Rivalz and one of those 'damned teenagers' Nagata encountered."
As I said that she stiffened and gained an enraged expression.
"So he did know!" Kallen growled out.
"Like you thought that he was K-1 from his voice alone?" I said, raising an eyebrow as her face flushed. "He was knocked disoriented as he tried to check if you guys were alright, hidden behind I think was the gas capsule before he hid in Shinjuku. All he had was your voice and I only knew that he was there because of Rivalz calling that he was in the truck."
"Damn it, so he was trying to figure me out!" Kallen growled out. "Either he did or was lucky."
"Considering of it doesn't threaten Nunnally he probably won't do anything to expose you if he did figure it out. He has no real love for Britannia and get's his kicks and helps provide for Nunnally by robbing nobles through gambling. He does't suspect anything about myself and helped to get him out before joining the battle. You can ask directly or the student council as they know." I said.
Kallen pondered what I said for a few moments before letting out a frustrated sigh.
Me and Lelouch had figured that I would tell her this, considering the story we told the rest of the council yesterday.
With her off Lelouch's trail it would provide a reason why he confronted her about Shinjuku, simply that they sounded familiar to each other. And the confrontation could be a cover for him just checking incase she was a threat to Nunnally.
Not that she would know Sayoko probably would have disposed of her if she believed so.
Honestly wasn't sure or not Kallen bought it, but it looks like she is.
"I'm going to get back at him later." She growled out before shaking her head. "Was he the civilian you too rescued?"
"No, besides not sure how you guys react. The civilian was actually someone who was chased by the Royal Guards before we dealt with them. Anyway I suggest you head back before someone suspects anything. Pretty sure someone is going to check on either one of us soon." I said, getting Kallen to nod.
"And I'll keep an eye on the news, but this isn't over." Kallen said as she began to walk off as I entered the bathroom.
Letting out a sigh as the door closed and I began to strip out of my clothes.
It truly wasn't no doubt she would have some questions I couldn't and will not answer when this is all over.
Still I think things went rather well at least with Kallen, now for the rest of the leadership of the resistance cell.
Will have quite a bit to work on but I do hope to work with them. If we were to truly begin to get a revolution on the ground it would take all of us, especially with Clovis's death being broadcasted at anytime now.
(10 minutes later)
I had dried off and was making my way back to the hallways when I had gotten a text for Sayoko that caused me to break into a sprint.
That a press conference had been gathering in the state broadcast room, that they were announcing it.
Clovis's death was finally being made public.
I ran as fast as I could before coming back to the ballroom, coming to a stop next to Lelouch and Kallen as the student council was infront of the tv there. With Milly looking at the three of us.
"I was just about to call to tell you, Prince Clovis has been murdered." Milly said with a frown before she turned back towards the tv.
Kallen looked at me in shock when she was sure no one was looking.
I just nodded and mouthed 'latter' to her.
Kallen seemed to get the message as the newsfeed shifted into Area 11's Administration Center's state broadcast room. Had seen it used often when Clovis made a colony wide announcement or when he felt like it.
What I wasn't expecting was a press conference headed by a Margrave Jeremiah Gottwald!
He was here in Area 11!
It had been around seven years since I last saw him, he was still grieving pretty hard after mom was killed. It had only gotten worse when Lelouch and Nunally had been exiled.
I had been planning on asking Cornelia to take him under her employ given their admiration for mom would have been beneficial, yet I left before I could finalize anything.
Yet here he was, surrounded by soliders including Villeta to his side. Seems like he had become commander of the Purebloods since then.
Please tell me this wasn't like with Clovis again...
"Prince Clovis has been murdered! He has become a martyr for the battle against the Elevens while pursuing peace and justice! We must carry on with his ideals while barring the sorrow of his passing." Jeremiah said, making me feel like I wanted to throw up.
Kallen looked like she was hiding the urge to retch at his speech, and I don't blame her...
It was starting to sound like Clovis again...
"Now with breaking news, Prince Clovis's killer has been caught." The anchor woman said, breaking me from my musings. "The primarily suspect for his murder has been detained. According to the announcement the suspect is an Honorary Britannian."
The screen shifted to something that shocked both me and Lelouch greatly.
"It can't be." Lelouch whispered out.
Suzaku alive and being escorted by armed guards while being detained!
He was alive, we thought that he had died...well he did get shot in the chest and a truck exploded around us. Yet here he looked completely fine.
I was glad to see him alive but not like this...
"Private Suzaku Kururugi. The subject is a former Eleven." The anchor woman said as the footage continued where it looked like Suzaku tried to protest as he was being escorted, only to be slugged in the gut by one of the guards to silence him. "The Honorary Britannian, Suzaku Kururugi!"
He was their scapegoat.
As the son of the last Prime Minister of Japan, his connection to Japan's Imperial Family, and Honorary Britannian status makes him the perfect one to pin on for Clovis's death.
Me and Lelouch shared a look before we nodded as he went to confront Nunnally began to shake. Hearing one of our closer siblings died and what Suzaku was accused of was not something she would take well of.
Ignoring the other news being on I sighed as I could only imagine the chaos the rest of the empire must be feeling now.
And how much more we will raise soon.
Neither Lelouch or I would allow Suzaku pay for what had happened and allow him to be the scapegoat.
We needed to come up with a plan...and I need to find out more about what is going on here...
(Chapter 10 end)
Hey guys Mukuro7 here and I hoped that you all enjoyed this chapter. Not much here except Kallen and Y/N's interaction and the reveal of Clovis's murder. Spent quite a bit of time perfecting everything so I hoped it turned out alright.
I'll keep things short, but expect at least two more chapters soon. Especially with the release of Lost Stories in the West this Fall.
Next chapter Y/N and Kallen discuss the aftermath of this revelation, the former suspecting someone on Ashford keeping an eye on him, then at night the Kōzuki cell discussing about what Kallen learned, Jeremiah filling Villeta in on Clovis's last request, and Lelouch, Y/N, and Sayoko going over what to do next. Hope you enjoy that chapter when it comes out.
So until next time, ciao!
