"This is... a Midair Duel!" Yuzu exclaims. The wind picked up, blowing through everyone's hair. Shun and Yuya stared at one another, a smirk on one's face and a scowl on the other's. The tomato-haired boy look away to get a glimpse at his partner, waiting for the slick comment her eyes would give him, or a joke in regards to his current challenger.

(Y/n) closes her eyes, knowing exactly how this will end. Her arms crossed, the wind blowing her (h/c) hair out of her face. Her eyes opened expectantly, and a smile began forming on her face that held tendencies of a smirk. Something that only her smile would have at a time like this.

The smile and the look of her eyes gave off a look of belief and a joking look of, 'Hey! This dude is crazy to have challenged you to a duel! Mop the desert ground with him, Yuya!'

Yuya would've called her an angel, a beautiful angel, but now wasn't the time for that. That's what Yuto constantly nagged, anyway. Yuya looked back at Shun, his smirk growing wider with confidence. This was gonna be fun!

"What's going on?!" Alarms were going off throughout the building.

"Someone has used Solid Vision" Reiji's unnamed assistant, who the author ships with him, replied.

"Who?" Shingo asked, standing beside Sora and Silver.

"It's in the suburbs" Sora stated.

"Pull up the Solid Vision monitoring feed!" President Reiji commanded. The feed pulled up, showing a sandy suburban area.

"That's Kurosaki... and Yuya Sakaki!" Sora hid the worry in his eyes, unlike Silver.

"Shun?!" Silver ran up to the computer showing the Solid Vision monitor. She knew this would happen, with the way he had been acting, but not so soon.

"He's not cleared to do that! I'll go stop him right away, sir!" Shingo had started trying to walk out of the area, slightly furious that Shun had left.

"No, don't!" Reiji started, crossing his arms, "This will make things go faster"

"Urgh..." a stab to Shingo's pride.

"..." Sora took out a lollipop and started licking it. This was gonna be interesting.

"S... SOMEBODY HELP ME!" Syu Zo shouted, hanging on to the limb of the giant tree.

"Dad!" Yuzu shouted up to him, worried about her father.

"You better end this quick, Yuya" (Y/n) stated. She looked up at Syu Zo worriedly, sweatdropping at his attempts of getting down.

"Idiot..." the word may have been harsh, but there was still signs of worry and care behind it. Yuzu looked back at her two companions, "Yuya! (Y/n)! I'm going to save dad! Yuya, don't lose, okay?!"

"Got it!"

"Roger!" The two shouted behind her as she entered the cave of winding stairs. Quite literally, that's what it was, a giant circling staircase that led to the top. Doesn't give me much to work wit- Anyway, back to the story...

"Here I come, Yuya Sakaki! The first turn is mine!" Shun stated, pulling out his duel disk and cards. Yuya did the same, their eye contact never leaving each other.

"Duel!!" The simple shout started the card game, a gush of wind surrounding the three in that area.

"Well now... Since the Action Cards are in the sky..." Yuya stated, pulling out a confetti popper, "Go get one, Poppo!"

Trainer Yuya chose Poppo!

"Coo-coo!" Poppo flew up quickly, attempting to go for an Action Card.

"Not so fast!!" Shun exclaimed, pulling a card from his deck, "I summon... Raid-Raptor, Napalm Dragonius!"
Shun jumped on his summoned monster, commanding it to take flight. The two passed poor Poppo, who was scared out of his mind, "I also activate this monster's effect! Once per turn, Napalm Dragonius does 600 points of damage to my opponent!" Shun exclaimed as his monster wrecked Poppo, burning the poor bird. Poppo fell to the ground as Yuya lost life points.

"Poppo! No!" (Y/n) bent down and held poor Poppo in her hands only to immediately drop him.

"Aw...... You turned Poppo into grilled chicken!" Yuya stated, noticing the smoke coming from the bird, "Whoa! That's hot!"

"In what context?" The (e/c)-eyed girl asked, getting up and wiping her hands against one another.

"This turn's Action Card is mine!" Shun snatched the card from it's current place, "The first player can't attack on the first turn! I set one card face down and end my turn! Now it's your turn, Yuya Sakaki!"

'He just found a way to make your future last name sound terrible... He really doesn't like you guys...' (X/d) stated humorously, enjoying (Y/n)'s reaction.

"S-Shut up!" (Y/n) replied, her face a blushing mess. (X/d) laughed lightly, disappearing back into the depths of where she came.

"Yeah..." Yuya answered hesitantly, "...And I need a way to reach those Action Cards"

"You could use Poppo- Oh, wait! He was burned to a crisp!"

"I get you're upset about it! Here, I'll fix him for you later"

"Yuya!" Yuzu called down from where she currently was running, "Summon a flying monster...... And snag those Action Cards!!" She sounded completely out of breath.

"Yeah, I know, but..." Yuya looked over to where Yuzu stood, sweatdropping lightly and nervously smiling, "... My deck doesn't have any flying monster's."

"Then what're you gonna do?!" Yuzu shouted back. (Y/n) smiled at the enthusiasm in Yuzu's voice as she looked back over at the boy in question.

"Umm..." Yuya caught the glint in both girls' eyes, scared to let either of them down. He smiled nervously, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Quit messing around! A duel is serious!" Shun sounded from where he stood, quite annoyed at the boy he currently was dueling, "If you can't fly, then risk your life and run up that tower!" He growled each word, agitation edged on the tone.

'Geez, someone really needs a chill pill' (X/d) sounded. A small smile graced her features as she stood near Yuto, analyzing the duel before them. Yuto laughed lightly in reply, giving a nod in her direction.

"I'll figure it out. After all, it's my turn!" Yuya stated, still a little nervous and probably intimidated. He looked over at (Y/n), giving her a sneaky smile. She seemed confused at first, wondering what might be going through her friend's head, until she remembered just what he probably wanted. Soon, her face mirrored his as she placed a small object in his hand.

"Tch! I was a fool to expect anything from you! If that's all you've got, I'll end this fast! I'm taking this turn's Action Card!" Shun stood atop his monster, flying high towards where the card lay. He reached for it, a scowl on his face, "That card is now-"

"Nope! I'm taking this Action Card!" Yuya exclaimed happily, catching Shun off-guard.

"I thought you didn't have any flying monsters!" Shun exclaimed, recovering from his state of shock. His question had been answered once he gained sight of what Yuya used to get so high in the air, 'A paper airplane, huh?'

(Y/n) smiled at the sight, glad Yuya had been able to yank the Action Card from Shun. Another part of her was glad Yuya had even thought of using the giant paper airplane. She knew they'd be discussing it later, seeing as she couldn't stop gushing over it for quite a while. The loud crackling of the grass fire had brought her back to the duel.

"Ha ha! You set the ground on fire, remember?" Yuya started, smiling as he recalled the mishap, "That created the perfect updraft... For me to launch this thing!"

"Heh... That's more like it!" Shun happily stated, his eyes dilating into a sinister stare, "Now I activate an Action Card from my hand! Sky Fall!"

Shocked looks made way to (Y/n) and Yuya's faces as Shun's monster flew overhead. The sadistic gaze on Shun's face made the situation no better. Sky Fall would completely demolish Yuya's Action Card while also taking some of Yuya's life points.

"Agh! But I just got that!" Yuya exclaimed, quite upset over the outcome of Shun's attack. The tomato missed his sudden movement, the fire that caused his uplift soon catching on to the back of his paper airplane, "Whoa! I'm on fire! And I'm going down!"

The pinkette and (h/c)-ette both looked at the scene in worry. The plane's nose dipped down faster and faster, preparing to crash, "Yuya!"

'Yuya!' Yuto sounded, 'Jump onto that island!'

"Great idea!" Yuya replied. Using the hand his deck was resting in, he quickly gripped onto the rock formation, sighing in relief once it was firm, "Woah!"

The boy hung there for a minute, trying to get back all the air he lost in that risky move. It took a bit for him to finally hop on the island fully. Aside from the nauseous feeling in the pit of his stomach and his slightly bruised fingers, Yuya was fine. Yuto, (X/d), and (Y/n) all gratefully sigh, glad the tomato was fine. Gosh, being a dueltainer was tough.

"Now it's your turn! So bring it on!" Shun sounded from atop his monster, staring Yuya down with a snarl.

"He sounds suspiciously confident" Yuya stated in thought, smiling a little.

"His stance..." (Y/n) stated, knowing the position all too well, "That confidence..."

'Be careful' Yuto warned, 'His monster's ATK is only 1,000, so he's luring you into a trap'

'He's up to something big..." (X/d) noted, her arms crossed over her chest.

"You think so too, huh?" Yuya asked, his smile growing wider with each passing thought.

"It's obvious what Shun wants..." (E/c) eyes looked over to (X/d), both shades showing agreement to one another.

'Not only that, but it must be formidable. He saw your last duel' Yuto stated, 'That means he knows about Odd-Eyes Phantom Dragon's powerful effect'

Shun glared expectantly, prepared for almost any move Yuya could possibly use against him. This was the moment he was waiting for. The moment he's been training for.

"Then I won't let him down!"

'Hey! Were you even listening?!'

"Knowing Yuya, he's going to give in... Isn't he?"

'Yep!'

A/n: Here's the chapter! I know, it's been way too long, but so much came up! Anyway, next chapter will be out sooner than this one did! I can guarantee it! It's supposed to be shorter...
