It was the Christmas season of 1994.

     Both the families Zhang and Calinao celebrated together.
     The Zhang's responsible for the Christmas Eve celebration, hosting it in their home, providing the store bought roasted beef for the main course, then apples and apple pies for dessert.
     The Calinao's however  are responsible for the actual Christmas celebration. In their home, they cook all kinds of dishes such as: Roasted chicken, grilled pork, sweet spaghetti, carbonara, hotdogs with marshmallows on sticks, and a dish with a recipe passed down from generation to generation; Pork Menudo.

     As the evening grew calmer after dinner in the Calinao's family home, the two daughters of the families began to feel tired. One from exhaustion of being a new and young single mother, and the other from carrying the extra 3.8 kilograms for the past eight months.

"Aw, man! I never knew being pregnant was basically a leg workout for nine months straight. "
Said Stephanie Calinao as she slowly lowered herself onto the couch beside her best friend.

"Tell me about it. I took my leave after three months just to spend an extra two months with this little guy. "
Emily Zhang replied, holding her little infant close to her chest.

The two women sat in front of the television screen watching Friends while their parents chatted in the background. While they were no longer teenagers, the two girls were just fresh out of college when they told their parents about the pregnancies.
      Their families weren't very disappointed though, with Grandma Zhang completely aware of the father, and Stephanie getting married promptly before the announcement.

Both women didn't know how to react with the fact that they were both going to be mothers though. Emily, being the kept-together type of person she is, handled it well and was open to suggestions and didn't have a problem with asking for help.
     But Stephanie on the other hand had a harder time accepting the fact that she had a human growing inside her body.

You could tell who was the mature and the childish friend.

Stephanie then turned her head and stared at the sleeping baby in her best friend's arms and sighed. Emily didn't bother asking what's wrong, because she knew that her friend was hiding something right before she even announced her pregnancy.

"So.. Who's Frank's dad again? "
Stephanie said avoiding her friend's eyes by staring straight at the episode airing. She knew that Emily was always on guard when it came to that topic.

Emily let out a nose sigh, then stood up from the seat. But not a moment later, she came back without Frank but with two slices of fruit cake.

"Steph, I know that you're always concerned about me, but trust me; Frank's father shouldn't be your concern, and you're obsessing about him way too much. "

Stephanie kept her eyes trained on whatever wasn't her friend's.

"Are you constantly pressing me to tell you Frank's father because you have something to say about your baby's? "
Emily watched as her best friend went rigid.

"Steph, is it not-? "

"I don't know what you're talking about Em. "
Stephanie said with a clipped tone before standing up and quickly making her was to the stairs, up to the second floor where she could run away from the topic. Leaving behind her uneaten fruit cake.

Emily never pressured Stephanie to tell her the information since that time.
