Soulmate breakup

Leaving Mark's office was harder than getting inside of it. Jimin realised that he underestimated the amount of men Yoongi had- resulting in him staying inside the office until the sun began to hide behind the horizon. Jimin would occasionally stuff himself back into the small cupboard whenever Mark left the office or if one of Yoongi's men knocked on the door to check if everything was alright.

And when Jimin did actually leave the cramped space, Yoongi's guards were looming behind every corner. Jimin tried to slip past most of them- knowing that it would be better if they didn't see when he left or that he was there for so long- but some of them had to be put down by Jimin's choke hold.

In the end, Jimin still reached the safety of his cell, but as he entered the four concrete walls, he was greeted by the sight of someone familiar sitting on his bed.

"Jim-"

Jimin sighed and shuffled into the cell tiredly, "Not now, Taehyung." He muttered through a yawn while taking a hold of the hem of his grey hoodie and lifting it over his head.

Strands of lavender locks lifted into the air along with the hoodie before plopping back down against Jimin's forehead. The small mochi dragged his feet towards the pile of clothes neatly folded on the corner of his bed. He grabbed a black sweater, and while ignoring Taehyung's eyes burning into his skin, shook out the hoodie before pulling it over his head.

"I'm sorry."

A deep, soulful voice nipped at Jimin's ears and wrapped him into a tight hug. His heart clenched pitifully at the guilt soaked words Taehyung uttered, yet his face remained stone cold. Jimin ignored Taehyung's presence as he crawled into the bed and pulled back his covers to the best of his ability since Taehyung was sitting on a part of the blanket.

Taehyung's eyes followed Jimin before falling down on his fingers. He lifted himself a few centimetres off the bed to allow Jimin to pull the blanket towards himself and slip underneath it.

Honeycomb eyes rolled around in a circle and chubby fingers pulled at a loose thread on the blanket. The small thread snapped in half and got thrown away before Jimin turned on his side and faced the concrete wall.

"Hoseok's waiting for you." Jimin muttered lowly with a hint of distaste squished between the letters of the words. He shut his eyes and pulled his blanket up to his chin as he ignored Taehyung shifting on the bed.

Taehyung's face was twisted into a grimace of guilt and pain, he tilted his head back and blinked away his tears as he breathed out shakily, "Jimin, I'm sorry...I shouldn't have...I shouldn't have left you. You came to me because you needed me and I left you, I'm sorry." Taehyung whispered shakily, blinking down at Jimin with glistening eyes and a bloody lip from chewing on it so much.

Jimin inhaled sharply, tightening his grip on the blanket and sucking in his cheeks, "Okay." He breathed out hoarsely, keeping his eyes screwed shut and shoulders tensed.

Taehyung flinched back at the coldness radiating from the response, "Thats all?" He hesitantly pushed out, pulling his sleeves over his fingers and pushing his legs up to his chest.

"What do you want me to say?" Jimin hissed, peeling his eyes open to glare at the wall in front of him. His jaw was clenched until his skin lost its colour and his vein popped out on his neck. Jimin tried to suppress the anger boiling underneath his skin by focusing on the cracks dancing along the concrete wall.

"I..want you to be angry." Taehyung muttered under his breath, "Scream and yell at me, maybe hit me for leaving you. I just want you to show me that you're angry and take it out on me."

"You want me to be angry?" A bitter laugh rumbled through Jimin's throat and he slowly pushed himself into a sitting position. His face twisted into a nasty sneer and eyes glistened with a thin layer of tears. He turned to glare at Taehyung before parting his lips and spitting at the puppy-eyed boy, "I'm pissed! I'm so angry that I want to hit you. I never come to you for anything! Nothing! Because I know that I can always deal with this shit on my own, I know that I'm strong enough to survive anything, so I never involved you!"

Jimin's chest rose and fell as he panted, his blanket pooled around his waist and hands clenched around the edge of it. His eyes burned into the side of Taehyung's face as the boy pressed his palm against his lips and sniffled quietly, "And this...just this once I came to you because I didn't know what to do." Jimin croaked out, sinking his teeth into his lip and inhaling deep breaths to keep his voice steady. He swallowed down the lump in his throat and blinked away his tears, "I was so scared, Tae, so scared. I got so used to having the Kitty gang standing behind me, ready to catch me when I needed it, so when I realised that there was no one behind me....I was terrified."

"The realisation that I didn't have anyone to help me or...or back me up, came crashing down and I didn't know what to do! Because whenever I needed advice or a stable mind, Jin Hyung was always there....but not even he is here now." Jimin's harsh voice turned into a quiet mumble at the end. His head fell forward and eyes squeezed shut to trap the tears threatening to spill out of his eyes, "So I came to you. Thinking that my soulmate would be there for me, that he'd...that he'd hug me and comfort me, tell me that I'm not alone in this entire mess. But he didn't." Another harsh chuckle bounced past Jimin's lips. He turned his head upward and peered at Taehyung through lavender strands of hair and wet lashes, "Of course he didn't."

Jimin shook his head with an empty smile and narrowed eyes, "Instead he tried to push me off and run after some guy he hadn't even known for two weeks. Told me that he'll come back to me after he talks to the guy first, even though I was crying and begging him to stay. Begging! Fuck, you didn't even ask me what was wrong or why I was crying in the first place. Your mind was so worried about what he might think, that you just left me alone in your cell when I needed you the most."

Small palms pressed against the mattress and pushed Jimin's body further into the corner of the bed. He pulled his knees up to his chest and placed his chin on top of them, "I would do anything for you, and I never ask anything in return." Jimin murmured, not bothering to wipe away the stray tear resting underneath his eye, "I always thought you'd be there for me, just like I was always there for you. You were the only one that made me feel less scared and lonely, and you became the person that made me feel the loneliest." Jimin breathed out through a small sniffle.

A harsh sob cut through the air, followed by Taehyung pushing himself onto the bed and crawling into Jimin's direction. He plopped down in front of Jimin, sobbing quietly as he hovered his hands by Jimin's own hand- not daring to touch the older without his permission.

"I..I'm sorry!" Taehyung cried out through small hiccups and sniffled. Salty, crystalline tears rolled down his cheeks and connected at his chin before dripping onto his pants. His shoulders rocked with an occasional tremor and small gasps pushed between his sentences, "I didn't...mean to! Please don't...I love you, Jimin, I'm so sorry! I shouldn't have left, I should...should've stayed with you. Please forgive m..me, i promise I'll never..leave you again." Taehyung lowered himself flush against the bed and pushed his face into Jimin's thigh.

The glimmers of hostility and anger in Jimin's honeycomb eyes faltered with each sob and word that tumbled out of Taehyung's lips. He kept listening to the blabbers Taehyung uttered before hesitantly lifting his hand and hovering it over Taehyung's blond locks.

Jimin began to contemplate whether he should forgive Taehyung so easily considering the entire situation, or if he should drag it out a bit more to teach Taehyung a proper lesson. But then he remembered what he had realised the night before as he was laying in his bed alone.

"I'm not going to leave you, pup." Jimin breathed out, allowing his hand to lower and brush against Taehyung's temple, "I just think...we both need a bit of time to allow ourselves to spend time with other people and...Uhm, maybe...maybe spend time away from each other. So that we could find ourselves outside of this relationship without being influenced by each other."

Taehyung's sobs turned into small sniffles as he looked up at Jimin in confusion. Tears still brimmed at his eyes and his lashes glimmered in the light, "Wh..what?" Taehyung whispered, blinking up at Jimin with a silent question in his mind.

Jimin inhaled deeply. It was hard for him to think of these things, much less say them. But Jimin knew how this entire prison situation could end, and he didn't want to argue with Taehyung during what could be his last days alive. He wanted to spend them as much as he could with Taehyung, but, at the same time, not hold him back and tell him that it was okay to move forward without Jimin by his side. It was what they both needed, even if Jimin got out alive.

Jimin's head fell back and touched the wall behind him. His fingers ran along Taehyung's blond locks, and lips parted to speak, "I think we both got so used to being surrounded by the Kitty gang members, that it was easy to push them away and interact only with each other. I think we got too used to the mansion and our surroundings, so when we were thrust into the prison, we didn't know what to do when we had the opportunity to speak to other people."

"Our world just suddenly became a bit bigger, even if it was just the prison. All these people, and the new surroundings, even if each of us was the others only familiarity in such a place, our relationship still crumbled." A small huff of empty amusement turned into an emotionless chuckle. Jimin shook his head and blinked away his tears before peering down into Taehyung's eyes, "I think it showcases how vulnerable and fragile our relationship truly was."

Jimin forced a smile on his face and pulled his hand away from Taehyung's locks. He allowed it to fall into his lap and fiddle with the hem of his shirt, "I don't think this means that we should end our relationship completely. I just think that we should use this as an opportunity to better ourselves. Jessi sheltered us too much from the rest of the world, I think it's time we go out there to face other people and the reality of how things actually are. Do everything you have dreamt of doing- travel the world, get an education, settle down. And when you do know who you are outside of the Kitty gang and our soulmate relationship, then I think we should try being friends again." Jimin breathed out softly, allowing a ghost of a smile to curl around his lips.

Taehyung merely stared back at Jimin in shock- his sobs and sniffled knocked deep into his nose and lungs. He couldn't believe what he was hearing from Jimin, he had expected a lot of shouting, lashing out, maybe even Jimin threatening and trying to kill Hoseok. But this? Jimin reflecting on everything and coming to this conclusion by himself? Taehyung only had one thought in his mind,

"Are you okay?"

A snort came from Jimin, followed by the mochi laying back down on the bed and pulling his cowers back, "I am...managing." Jimin pushed out the words with a matching grimace.

Taehyung eyed him carefully before glancing down at the empty spot next to Jimin. The two made eye-contact and Jimin merely had to raise his brow before Taehyung was slithering his way underneath the blanket next to him.

Jimin and Taehyung laid flush against each other in the bed- their sides touching and hands laying over each other's. They stared up at the bunkbed above their heads and listened to the poems written by the silence.

"What will you do when we get out of here?" Taehyung interrupted the silence with the question that had been bubbling in the pot in his mind.

Jimin's face remained void of emotion and eyes felt almost empty as he dragged them along the metal wires preventing the mattress above his head from crushing them. He almost flinched at Taehyung's question, yet managed to save his composure by inhaling a stuttering breath and swallowing down the lump in his throat.

"I don't know." Jimin whispered- lying through his teeth.

In reality, Jimin wasn't even sure if they would get out of the prison. Jimin had no idea what was going on with the Kitty gang, but now he knew for sure that he didn't want Taehyung to fall into their hands and be stopped from having the life he had always dreamt of.

Nor did Jimin know what was happening with Jin. The last time he had spoken to him, it sounded like Jin had been in some serious trouble and Jimin wasn't even aware if Jin was currently alive.

And another thing is that Jimin didn't know if his plan would work. The person he had requested to meet could easily deny his request and never show up, which would leave Jimin with no choice but to settle with plan B. And that plan was leaving the prison with Taehyung and Yoongi, and making sure Taehyung runs away with Hoseok before killing himself to prevent Yoongi from getting to the people he loves. Yes, Jimin could spend the rest of his life on the run from Yoongi, but the single thought of doing that was draining. And even though Jimin's death would seem a bit morbid and too hero-ish for his taste, it was dramatic enough for him.

Crystalline tears nipped at Jimin's eyes and his lower lips began to wobble. He squeezed his eyes shut and held his breath, trying to suppress the sadness and intense fear brewing beneath his skin. After a few seconds ticked by, Jimin released the breath held hostage in his lungs and fluttered his eyes open. He stared at the bunkbed above him for a minute longer before shifting on the bed and turning around on his side to face Taehyung.

Honeycomb eyes caught onto the small beauty marks sprinkled across Taehyung's face and the way strands of his blond locks fell against Taehyung's brow. The puppy eyed male turned his head to the side and revealed his entire face to Jimin. A delicate smile curved Taehyung's lips into a ghost of a smile and his eyes softened when staring back at Jimin.

The soulmates kept gazing at each other- neither of them daring to break the string of emotion they were sharing. While Taehyung seemed to be watching Jimin with love and fondness, Jimin's eyes hid the fact that he was memorising Taehyung's face as if it was the last thing he'd see.

Perhaps it will be.
