Chapter 6

----- Xiaolin temple the next day -----

The sunlight was peeking through the curtains of Raimundo's room as the light shined into his eyes causing him to wake up with a groan, covering his eyes from the light before it tried to blind him. Feeling the same way he did when he fell asleep last night. He sluggishly sat himself up on his mat rubbing his eyes and letting a yawn out. He pulled himself up off the floor getting ready for the new day with who knows what is in store for him as he changed from his pj's into his monk clothes.

Once all dressed and hair not a mess, he look a look into the mirror with under his eyes slightly dark colored and ripped off the band aid that was on his face where one of Kaiser's throwing knives cut him. Stepping out of his room as he started to head for Kari's room; however Raimundo stopped in his tracks half way there as he remembered she was PISSED at him and she probably still was. He thought Kari would hit him with something since she couldn't yell or she would still try to yell at him only to flail angrily while her mouth moved. Thinking that Kimiko would be best suited to go check on Kari, he started to walk to Kimiko's room to ask her to check on Kari for him.

After a little while of walking Raimundo stood outside of Kimiko's room. "Hey Kimiko." Raimundo called out sounding kinda awful from being tired and many other different emotions that were running amuck on the inside. Kimiko opened her door, dressed in her robes. She smiled.

"Morning Rai, what's up?" She asked kindly, quickly noticing his facial expression. "You feeling ok? Are you sick or something?" Kimiko stood on her toes and felt his forehead with her right hand while feeling hers with her left hand. "You don't have a fever..." She hummed in thought, keeping her hand on his forehead. Raimundo lightly moved Kimiko's hand from his forehead as he shook his head in a no motion answering if he was sick.

"I'm fine don't worry about it. Would you be able to do be a favor though and check up on Kari for me though? I doubt she wants to me my face first thing in the morning." Raimundo asked as he said thought words were like throwing knives to the heart. Kimiko frowned, she hated seeing Raimundo like this. She nodded and grabbed her PDA off the counter.

"Sure. I'll do that for you Rai." She stated then left and went to Kari's room. Once she stood in front of Kari's room she knocked on the door. "Kari? You up?" Kimiko heard rustling then quick foot steps as if Kari was running around in a panic. Kari then opened the door quickly, dressed in her robes, with a flustered look as she rubbed her neck and pointed to her mouth, trying to say "KIMIKO!!! WHAT HAPPENED TO MY VOICE?! I CAN'T SPEAK!!" Kimiko smiled kindly.

"Easy Kari. It's ok. Here, you can use my PDA to speak with us. This will give us time to figure out what's wrong." Kimiko stated, even though she knew why Kari had no voice she did not tell her since she was in stage one when she lost her voice which meant she would have to bring it up, risking the chance of killing Kari. Kari smiled and took the PDA and began to type with the stylist.

"Thank you Kimi! You're the best!" Kari smiled up at her and Kimiko ruffled her hair.

"No prob. Come on, let's go eat." Kimiko walked off but Kari stood there.

"Not hungry..." Kimiko heard the PDA then turned to Kari and frowned.

"But Kari--"

"I'm not hungry... I'm gonna go stretch and get ready for today's training..." Kari then walked off after putting the PDA in her pocket. Kimiko frowned and went to eat breakfast, just waiting to hear someone ask where she was. Raimundo was walking to breakfast hoping that Kari was alright and maybe in a better mood now that she was able to get some sleep. Clay watched as Kimiko came in with a sad look on her face.

"Morning Kimiko, would of thought Kari would be with you this morning." Clay asked tipping his hat upward to her as a form of greeting. Kimiko sighed in sadness.

"She said, with my PDA, that she wasn't hungry... I think that she has a feeling about yesterday, even though she was in stage one..." Kimiko sat down. "I hope she's ok... She didn't eat dinner last night and I heard her stomach growling on the ride home... I think Rai really messed up this time..." Kimiko said since Raimundo was not in the room yet. Clay's expression turned sad as he looked to Kimiko.

"Maybe, but he was right, he didn't know any better. Yeah I'm a big softy when it comes to fighting and whatnot, but there are times when even the most kindest of people can be mighty cruel. Raimundo was only looking out for her, heck you or Omi would of done the same thing if you felt strongly appalled to the things I said to her. I would have done the same thing he did if someone else did that." Clay said looking at Kimiko standing up for his buddy Raimundo. Kimiko nodded and sighed.

"Y-yeah... True..." Kimiko looked down as Omi walked in.

"Hello my friends, where is-"

"Out getting ready for training..." Kimiko cut him off.

"How did you know I would ask about Kari?" Omi tilted his head.

"Clay and I just finished talking about it." Kimiko stated as Omi sat down. Soon foot steps were heard and everyone looked to see who it was, hoping it was Kari. But it was not Kari. Raimundo had finally reached the dining hall as he walked in to see his friends looking to where he just entered as if expecting someone else to come in. Raimundo looked around, where was Kari? "Don't tell me she skipping breakfast too, she's gonna hurt herself if she keeps this habit up if she doesn't eat properly."

"She is out training..." Kimiko said to Raimundo as she ate some food, since Master Fung was in the scroll room. Raimundo let out a sigh as he sat down putting some food on his plate and then putting some food on another plate and off to the side in silence. Clay watched as Raimundo was acting very unlike himself. Kimiko watched him with sad eyes while Omi blinked.

"Raimundo, is that plate for Kari?" Omi asked with a small smile as he pointed to the extra plate. Raimundo looked to Omi with a blank expression.

"Nooo, I'm saving the extra plate of food for Dojo you big cheese head." Raimundo said with extra sarcasm, being a little defencive. Clay looked at Raimundo with disbelief at Raimundo's behavior, was he this upset with himself for what happened to Kari yesterday. "He must really care about Kari's well being... He's never acted like this before." Clay thought while looking to Omi. The little monk blinked.

"Oh, Okay! I'll go tell Dojo that you're saving food for him!" Omi giggled with a big smile as he walked towards the exit happily.

"Omi, he doesn't actually mean it's for Dojo, come sit back down partner." Clay called out to Omi before it was too late, Omi blinked and scratched his head.

"I am most confused. He said it was for Dojo but he doesn't mean it?" Omi asked Clay while Raimundo wrapped up the extra food so he could give it to Kari even if she was pissed at him, he didn't want her to go throughout the day without any food. Kari would end up passing out faster from fatigue if she did not eat something.

Kari was outside balancing on a few poles then running the obstacle course. Towards the end of the course Kari tripped on her scarf and slid face first into a tree. She then began to sob silently, taking out Kimiko's PDA and typing.

"OOOOOOWWW!!! THAT HURT!!!" Raimundo was finished with his food. He then picked up the extra food before anyone else could finish their food, taking his leave to clean his dish. Clay watched as his friend left before everyone else and before someone could say something to Raimundo. Kari stood up and wiped the smudge on her face as well as smearing some blood that came from a few cuts and scrapes that appeared due to her fall.

She frowned and kicked the tree as hard as she could, frustrated. But she instantly regretted it as she held her right foot in pain, hopping on her left, gritting her teeth. "SO MUCH REGRET!!!" Kari's thoughts screamed out in pain. She then sat down with her legs crossed as well as her arms, pouting as she leaned against the tree trunk. She soon saw a figure out of the corner of her right eye. She turned her head to see Dojo slithering up. Kari tilted her head and blinked, grabbing the PDA.

"Hey Dojo." She typed and smiled. Dojo smiled as he slithered over and looked at her scratched up face.

"Kari? What're you doing out here, you should be in the dining hall eating breakfast with everyone." Slightly scolding her for skipping breakfast. Kari looked down.

"I'm... Not hungry..." She typed and a puff of air escaped her lips, narrowing her eyes as she looked at the ground, her stomach growling, showing that she was lying. Dojo looked at her as her stomach growled saying otherwise.

"Kari you know if you don't eat right your body won't and can't function right. Master Fung would lecture about the same thing." Dojo crossed his arms looking dead in her eyes. Kari looked at Dojo, a small smile forming on her lips.

"What are you, my father?" She asked then stood up and climbed the tree. Not wanting to talk about this particular subject. Dojo looked up at Kari as she went up the tree.

"No I'm not, I'm your guardian and I'm just looking out for you or you'll make everyone worry!" Kari looked up at the clouds, leaning back with her arms behind her head and her eyes narrowed. The wind messing with her hair and scarf. She did not reply to Dojo, being defiant and not wanting to talk anymore. She looked a little upset as she frowned slightly while looking at the clouds. Raimundo was getting closer to the training ground, soon seeing Dojo looking up into a tree yelling at it about something.

"Kari come down now please and eat some food please." Dojo asked looking up at her with puppy eyes. Kari turned her head and looked down and shook her head, typing into the PDA.

"No way! I don't wanna be with the others! Especially Raimundo Pedrosa! Something is just telling me to keep my distance from him... Just LOOKING at him makes me mad!" Kari gritted her teeth and puffed out air from her nose angrily. "I don't know why I feel this way but I do! So I'm too upset to eat, now leave me alone Dojo!" Kari typed furiously into the PDA as she hunched her back in anger. Raimundo had a really bad feeling about that it was Kari sitting in the tree. Dojo didn't know what to do when he saw Raimundo with something wrapped up in his hands. Raimundo placed the wrapped food someplace where Dojo could reach and walked off to a different part of the training field wanting to get it over with. Dojo left the tree area for a moment to get what Raimundo placed down.

Kari crossed her arms and frowned. Paying no attention to Dojo. She soon left the tree she was in while Dojo was not looking and went to the highest part of the temple's roof, she closed her eyes to relax and her put arms behind her head. Dojo went back with the food Raimundo left behind for him to get for Kari, but she wasn't there. He pulled his ears as he began to get worried, then decided to go to Master Fung.

Master Fung blinked and saw Dojo slither in with a trail of dust behind him, panting once he was in front of Master Fung. "Is everything alright Dojo?" Master Fung asked the dragon, raising an eyebrow. Dojo panted as he looked to Fung out of breath.

"K-Kari has skipped breakfast and now she's missing!" Dojo said in a worried and panicked tone. Master Fung widened his eyes then went to tell the other monks, who were still eating. He looked at all four of them, worry dancing in his eyes.

"Kari is missing..." He gulped and everyone stood up. "We must find her quickly, something may happen." Master Fung then told the other elders there and everyone began searching the temple grounds. Clay, Raimundo, and Dojo rushed around looking for Kari. Clay decided to be best to try and glide around on using the Longi kite to fly around the sky to find Kari while everyone else spread out on ground searching for Kari on ground. Kimiko used the Lotus twister to help her search spots where she would normally be unable to search while Omi used the falcon's eye to look through the walls to see if Kari was hiding inside of something while Raimundo then decided to use the serpent's tail to go through walls to search in each other the buildings easily.

Kari did not know everyone was worried and searching for her. The warmth from the sun and her lack of energy got the better of her and she had fallen asleep where she was. She tossed and turned every now again. Her symbols soon began glowing brightly as she dreamed. While flying in the air Clay noticed a light in the corner of his eye as he turned his head to the side to see a glowing silver light.

"Maybe that'll be Kari hopefully." Clay said flying in the direction of the silver glowing light. Kimiko and Omi met up with Raimundo in the center of the temple yard.

"You find her?" Kimiko asked the other two monks. Omi looked down in shame as he shook his head in a no motion.

"sadly she is, as Clay would say, harder to find than a hay in a needle sack." Omi butchered the term in a depressed tone.

"You mean harder to find than a needle in a hay sack Omi." Raimundo said as he joined the group.

"That too." Omi blinked up at Raimundo as he corrected him.

Kari heard a whoosh as Clay swooped in, Kari sat up for a moment to see what it was. "...Clay?" She thought but was too tired to stay awake for a while so she plopped back down on the roof, falling back asleep instantly. Clay got close and past the glowing ray of silver light and saw Kari just laying on the roof. He went there for a landing being careful not to wake her up, girls can be really scarey if woken up mid-nap. Once Clay's feet touched the roof safely, was walked carefully not to fall off over to Kari.

"She's sleepin, probably from not eatin anything and the sun." Clay whispered to himself as he smiled happy to find her safe. He ever so gently picked Kari up into his arms as if holding a cute little baby piggy that was just born as a sweet smile came to his face. He then walked carefully walked to the edge of the roof and used the longi kite to fly them down from the roof. Dojo was slithering by as he saw Clay and rushed over excitedly, he found Kari! The newest member let out a tired moan and turned, frowning slightly. Kimiko rushed up and was about to yell out in happiness but noticed that Kari was asleep and stopped herself from yelling.

"KARI!!! YOU ARE OK!!" But that did not stop Omi as he SCREAMED at the top of his lungs. Kari bolted her eyes open angrily, shot out of Clays grip and then punted Omi into a wall out of reflex, copying something Raimundo would most likely do.Her eyes were hidden by the shadows of her bangs. Kari then stood up and yawned and looked around, noticing Omi. She gasped.

"Omi?! What happened?!" She typed with the PDA and went to him, worried, not remembering that she had kicked him like that. Kimiko was hiding behind Clay, shivering out of fear. In the near distance Raimundo stopped as he saw a flash of yellow go by him into a wall as he turned his head to see Kari. He let out a breath of relief, but also shivered ever so slightly.

"I don't know what happened, but remind me whatever it was to never make that mistake." Raimundo said out loud for all people to hear him say it. Clay looked and winced at Omi hit the wall, hard. Kari then helped Omi back to Clay and Kimiko.

"He's ok." Kari typed with a smiled but then felt weak then began to pass out and fall forward, her legs giving out as she let go of Omi, who was out cold. Kimiko grabbed Omi since she was closer to him. Before Raimundo could run over to catch Kari's falling body Clay had beat him to catching Kari into his arms.

"That was a close one." Clay said lightly not wanting to wake Kari up as he stood up straight holding her in his arms like earlier. Raimundo glared daggers as he could feel his blood boil again like it was yesterday, what was Raimundo getting so worked up about?

"I'll bring her to her room so she can rest." Clay said before heading towards the direction that Kari's room is in.

"I'll grab some food for her so she can eat." Kimiko called so Raimundo could hear, giving him a hint to help make up for the other day. "But I've gotta go patch up Omi first." Kimiko then headed to the infirmary. Raimundo smiled lightly as he piped in.

"Don't worry about it Kimiko, you worry about Omi, I'll handle getting Kari some food so she can eat when she wakes up." Raimundo said kindly to Kimiko. Dojo watched as everyone went their own way to do stuff to help Kari so she could feel better for when she woke up.

"Well umm...What should I do?" Dojo asked clearly talking to himself now, then he decided to go to the kitchen to help Raimundo just in case something happened Dojo could save Raimundo's skin. Kari tossed and turned on her mat, frowning more and more and her symbols began to glow a black color. Kari began to grit her teeth as she tensed up. Eventually she jolted awake with beads of sweat rolling down her face, wide scared eyes, her right arm out as if reaching for something and she was also panting heavily. Kari looked around and gulped.

"... Oh... It was just a nightmare..." She thought, quickly calming down before anyone saw her in this state. Her stomach growled, louder than last time. Raimundo was at her door with the food as he looked to the little dragon by him.

"Go in i'm right beside you Raimundo." Dojo encouraged him to go. Raimundo breathed one more time preparing himself for possible pain in the next three seconds after walking into Kari's room. Dojo got the door opened as Raimundo started to walk.

"I'm sorry to disturb you Kari, but I'm coming in with food for you." Raimundo said as calmly as he could as Dojo slithered by him.

"Not hungry!" Kari typed in her PDA and weakly threw her pillow at him and Dojo, panting weakly because of lack of energy.

"Master Fung's order is to not leave until you eat all of your food young lady." Dojo said dodging the pillow as well as Raimundo while protecting all the food that was on the tray. Kari glared daggers at them and began typing again.

"I'M NOT HUNGRY!! I DON'T WANNA EAT!! LEAVE ME ALONE!!!" Kari gritted her teeth. "CAN'T YOU PEOPLE JUST LISTEN TO ME?!! LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!" Dojo put his claws on his hips looking at Kari then at Raimundo as Dojo frowned.

"He was afraid of you saying that, so that's why he said if you won't eat it naturally then we had gonna have to force feed ya Kari." Dojo said looking at her like "What now?"

"Bring it on!" Kari typed, showing some hostility like her stage three alternate self, being defiant.

"Kari you're only hurting yourself this way." Raimundo started while putting the food down before interrupted by Kari.

"I don't care! I never wanted to be here! I never wanted to know Omi, Kimiko, Clay, Master Fung, Dojo, AND ESPECIALLY NOT YOU PEDROSA!!" Kari typed and weakly stood up, her legs shivering, due to her weakness. She was getting head strong for some reason. Kari took a few steps towards them and smacked Raimundo as hard as she could then began panting and wheezing.

"W-why the hell am I acting like this...?" Kari thought as her look began to soften slightly. She grabbed the PDA and typed.

"Wh-what just happened...?" She looked a little worried, not sure why she was doing this. Raimundo was a bit shocked as not only was his heart shattered like glass after hearing Kari's hateful words, but then to be slapped in the face was even more painful. Dojo looked to Kari as he went over to her.

"K-kari why not sit down and e-eat something please. We don't want you getting hurt." Dojo begged Kari with a teary sad puppy eyed look to her being very concerned for her well being. Kari looked at Dojo and huffed, crossing her arms and finally sitting down. She took the food and began to eat. She shoveled the food down and almost choked like she did the first day at the temple. Kari swallowed and looked at Raimundo.

"Raimundo..." She typed and patted the floor next to her with a childish grin. "C'mere, I wanna... Well talk, even though I can't." Kari gave a nervous grin. Raimundo snapped out of his slightly pained daze. "You too Dojo." Raimundo and Dojo exchange a look as they got closer. Raimundo took a seat near by and Dojo coiled up a bit close by as well. They looked to her as they waited for her to talk so they could listen about what she had to "talk" to them about. Kari began typing her message.

"I'm sorry for what I've been doing... I don't know why, but something's going on and---" Kari's hair began to get wild and her eyes began to get thicker. She glared at Raimundo for a moment. "Raimundo... " She typed then sighed. "Look, this is going to be confusing so I'll go slow... When I am not in a stage the previous ones affect me. Not only that but I have never been to stage three before so it is affecting my emotions greatly. Kinda like puberty, except multiply that by fifteen hundred since it gets worse each generation. Just a few things you can do when I'm getting like this. Food, force feeding may be in order. Cold water to snap me out of it and you might want to wear me down as well. Oh, and don't be afraid to try new things to help." Kari shrugged. "You understand all that, Pedrosa, Dojo? ... I'm still a little mad at you by the way." Kari narrowed her eyes at Raimundo. Raimundo looked down a bit, but nodded his head understanding as did Dojo. Kari smiled kindly. "Oh, here. If you need information from me, stage 1, then use this..." Kari handed Dojo a blue ocarina with the silver waning crescent moon on the front and the numbers 1 - 4 above a hole. "The number you cover up when you play the ocarina will summon the stage you need. Please give it to master Fung. Only the glowing numbers will work, a number will glow when I have enough energy to have that stage activated. But not 4, not until it is activated naturally. Understand?" Dojo took the ocarina from Kari as he nodded his head in agreement. Raimundo giving a nod of the head understanding the whole explanation.

"Well I should go bring this to Master Fung now." Dojo said as he slithered out of the room before the two could say a word.

"Tell him what I told you if he doesn't already know please!" Kari typed before Dojo left so he knew. Dojo gave a thumbs up as he saw the message and went on his way. Raimundo sat there quietly not knowing what to exactly what to do. Kari went back to normal, about to look at her PDA to write a message to Raimundo but she still had the notes she wrote from when she wrote while in stage one. Raimundo freaked as he snatched it away from her so he could delete what she just typed a matter of seconds ago. Kari huffed and started to go and grab it angrily, looking similar to a feline.

"Rai! Give it back!! Geez!!" Kari thought with an unamused huff. Raimundo was able to wipe everything she typed to him and Dojo out of the PDA and handed it back to Kari.

"S-sorry about that, I just remember I had something stupid on there and wanted to get rid of it before Kimiko remembered it was on there." He said looking at her.

Kari puffed out her cheeks and glared at Raimundo.

"Yeah, sure whatever... And to think I was gonna be all sincere and apologize to a MORON like YOU!" She huffed. "Get out! AND LEAVE ME ALONE!! YOU'RE LUCKY I'M STILL IN THIS TEMPLE!!" Raimundo winced at her words, now knowing it was only the alternate form talking and not actually her actual feelings, right?

"S-sorry to upset you even more Kari." He said

"Even more?" Kari typed, her eyes glowing now. "I-I don't remember being upset at you, I just wanted some distance."

"I-I'm sorry Kari, I thought I did something that made you unhappy with me." He said looking at her. Kari's eyes stopped glowing as she nodded.

"Ok," She typed. "... Don't... No, never mind... Just leave me alone now... I'll eat my lunch..." Raimundo gave Kari a gently smile as he started to get up.

"I'm glad you're going to eat, I was really worried about you." He said as he walked to the door leaving and closing the door behind him giving Kari her alone time.

"He was worried? ... Nah, if he was worried He wouldn't be pissing me off so much... I must have heard wrong..." Kari ate another bite of her lunch and sighed in thought.
