----------
It was a cool spring night at the xiaolin temple. The four xiaolin dragons: Omi, Raimundo, Clay and Kimiko were all asleep. Dojo was slithering to his room while holding a candle so he could see down the halls. Master Fung had stepped out of his room to take a walk because he had begun to feel restless, for he had a gut feeling that something was to come upon them and soon enough whatever it was, it was going to reveal itself. While having a stroll under the moonlit night he decided to do a small patrol to make sure everything was alright and in order. Seeing that everything was indeed fine he went into the scroll room to read to see if anything had revealed itself or anything different had changed.
Upon looking through a few scrolls one of the many scrolls was ever so brightly glowing sliver, Master Fung went and lightly pulled it out to see what information was being held inside the scroll. Once the scroll was fully opened onto the table he began to read and look over the images that were in front of him. His eyes widened in shock. He couldn't believe it, was he truly reading this correctly; the waning crescent moon was there on the scroll and that could only mean one thing, the ancient and legendary Copying dragon of the moon was somewhere out in the world, wondering around. While reading more about the Copying dragon he heard a noise of something hitting the floor nearby, he looked down to find another scroll that was covered in a hazy black mist. He cautiously walked over to pick the scroll up, wondering what this scroll was to behold for him slightly fearing what other news to be faced with. Once the scroll he had just picked up opened on the table and looked to see what was inside, but of course the worse was to show itself when he saw the skull and cross knives. It was none other than the revealing of the ancient and legendary Mercilus dragon of illusions. He closed up both of the scrolls and kept them on the table to show the four xiaolin dragons in training tomorrow in the morning, as he was leaving the scroll room he blew out the candles then he walked to retire for the night. Tomorrow held many mysteries and Master Fung needed his rest. Things around the temple maybe a little... Different soon.
-----In Chase's domain-----
Chase Young was sitting in his thrown meditating peacefully until his faithful crow came flying in making a cawing noise. He held his arm for the crow to land as he looked at it giving it a questioning look. The crow kept on cawing as if trying to tell Chase something important. Instead of going to his scroll room, he made one of his eye orbs appear to show him what he needed to see that his crow could not verbally say. In the orb a waning crescent moon symbol appeared, making the orb glow silver, but then a black hazy mist engulfed the glowing with the crescent to be replaced with a skull and knives crossing one another. Chase smirked, so the time had finally come that the Copying Dragon of the moon and the Mercilus dragon of illusions are wondering the earth again.
He had set his goals onto finding both the Copying dragon and the Mercilus dragon; with their powers combined together no one would stand in his way of world domination. The eye orb disappeared as the crow went off flying to try and find the two unknown dragons as he looked to his cats calling them forth. He was going to make sure he was the first one to find them before anyone else could. Soon Chase called his fallen warriors, which were in the forms of jungle cats. When all of his cats that he needed were gathered they headed out to hunt down the Mercilus and Copying dragon.
"Hunt down the ones that bear the symbols of the Copying and Mercilus dragons," Chase ordered as he showed his warriors the symbols in the eye orb then they set off on their hunt.
----- The next day around noon -----
A young girl, looking about ten but was actually twelve, walked around her hometown where she was raised most of her life towards the market. She had her hands in her pockets and the hood of her black unzipped hoodie up to hide her face except her mouth. Other than her hoodie she wore a pair of worn out blue jean shorts that were slightly below her knees with the legs looking loose but her waist looked comfortable and fit snugly, a midday sky blue T shirt with a silver waning crescent moon on the front, black slip on shoes, a silver ninja scarf that dragged slightly on the ground, an army green cap, and silver rimmed goggles that have slightly tinted lenses. Instead of socks the girl had her feet wrapped in white bandages with the wrapping going little above her ankle. She also wore a pair of blue fingerless biking gloves with silver lining and a silver ninja head band.
She let out a sigh and looked around, noticing a few looks from a group of boys not too far away.
"Well, crap..." She thought. "Just my luck. Thought I'd lose these guys but NOOOOO! Argh... Just keep walking and ignore them. That one person from many years ago isn't here to save me this time... Hopefully they just brush me off as someone else." The girl gulped at the thought, knowing it would not be easy to avoid the small group of four. One of the guys motioned his head in the girl's direction to the rest of them as they got the signal and head over to where she was walking.
"Hey you hold up!" The tallest of the four shouted to the girl while getting closer. The girl huffed and stopped then looked at the boy.
"What's up?" She asked innocently. The group walked up to her and surrounded her so there was nowhere to run. They all looked down to her because of the major height difference as the slightly chubbier boy spoke up.
"What are you doing here you weirdo," the chubbier boy asked, giving her a look of disgust as the other guys with him laughed. The girl sighed and took her right hand out of her hoodie pocket to show white bandages around her hand, the bandages went around her whole arm from fingertip to shoulder blade.
"I'm heading home." She replied with an unamused groan. "So, chubs-Mikenzie. How are we gonna do this?" The girl shifted her weight onto her left hip then brought her left hand to rest on her hip. "I just wanna get home without any major wounds. Just let me pass." The girl then straightened her posture and looked at all four boys, examining them closely. The group laughed at the girl's threat as the lankier boy said in his oddly high pitched voice.
"You think you can take on four guys, who are much taller than you small fry, you got nothing on us. You're just all talk." The guys started to crack their knuckles getting ready to beat up the girl in front of them thinking they were going to win this fight hands down. A minute or so of them having a small stare down the guys started to rush at the girl with fist up aimed for the girl at different areas. The girl sighed and then crouched down and then jumped up as high as she could, grabbing part of a nearby light pole then using that as a platform to jump to the other side of the group. Once she had done this the girl began to run away as fast as she could. The speed plus the breeze caused her hood to blow off of her head, but she did not notice. This revealed her pure white hair that was pulled up into a ponytail that spiked out in different directions with two hair groups in front with silver ribbon wrapped around them and her blood red eyes that sparkled like rubies. If her hair was down it would be slightly above shoulder length and her hair groups were slightly lower than chin length.
The guys watched with eyes widened then soon snapped out of their shock of the girl just pulled off that crazy stunt and started to run after her, they were not going to let her get away that easily from them if it was last thing they did. They kept running and the girl was still pretty far from their grasps so they kept at it in hopes she would eventually stop running from fatigue. The girl looked over her right shoulder and smirked, a small pair of feline-like fangs shimmered in the sun light.
"They won't let up... Well, great." She hummed to herself the skid to a sort of stop, readjusted her position then she ran away just as swift. "Let's see, let's see... Um, ah-ha!" She called out then turned again into a nearby forest, giggling to herself. "Now this is my turf." She hummed happily as she hopped up into a tree then ran ninja style through the branches. She quickly noticed a jungle cat and stopped to stare at it, she looked behind her and noticed she had lost the group of boys. She then looked back at the jungle cat, getting a very bad feeling.
Suddenly her symbols began to glow, catching the attention of the jungle cat. There were a total of eleven shimmering symbols in the shape of a waning crescent moon with a silver color. These symbols were on her torso, back, tops and palms of her hands, tops and bottoms of her feet and her forehead. The twelve year old gasped in shock, trying to stop the glowing but she was unable to, even her clothing could not hide the silver glow.
Once seeing the glowing silver light, the jungle cat warrior started to go towards the girl seeing that he had found the target his master had sent him and the others to hunt for. Getting closer and closer to his target by the second. His master will be pleased that one of the two have been found before anyone else. The girl watched the jungle cat with wide eyes. She was frozen in fear, unable to fathom her situation. Her thoughts began to race around quickly as she watched the jungle cat draw closer.
"I... Don't like this..." She thought, wanting to move but unable to, her pupils became scared slits as her heart began to pound rapidly out of terror. "What the hell is going on?!" Her thoughts screamed out. The jungle warrior cat drew closer, but not to scare her off once he was in front of her he sat down and let out a roar while looking at her. The girl stared then got down from the tree, cautiously approaching the feline.
"What... Are you doing here?" She muttered. "I haven't seen your face around here..." The girl was soon only inches away from the jungle warrior cat. She blinked and gave an innocent smile. "I'm Kari (car-re), Kari Kana (kah-nuh) lee Himura (He-moo-ruh). But you can call me Kari." She introduced herself happily, letting her guard down as she sat down next to the feline, only inches away from him. Kari wanted to pet him but decided not to since she was still a little jittery. The jungle warrior cat nudged his head onto her hand as he let out a little purring noise being nice since he knew his master was most likely watching. After a bit he stood up roaring lightly and then motioned for her to follow him. Kari looked at him and stood up, curiously following the jungle warrior cat.
"Where're we going?" She asked. "H-hey! W-wait up!" Kari called but tripped on her scarf, her face landing in the dirt. She quickly stood back up and raced after the feline, a few scrapes and cuts from the rocks in the dirt. The Jungle warrior cat kept a steady walking pace so Kari could keep up as they headed back to Chase's domain. In the distance from the domain another girl was wandering around the area.
She had her hair tucked into her blue snapback and her choker on covering her symbol as she looked around her surroundings. The jungle warrior cat led Kari was closer to the castle and could smell another scent nearby. Kari looked around timidly and gulped, quickly pulling her hood back over her head.
"I don't like this... It's giving me a bad feeling..." Kari whimpered and tugged on her hood as she sniffed the air. It smelled different to her and she was unable to tell if it was a good or bad scent. The other girl was walking around until she caught sight of the jungle cat and Kari as she started to walk closer.
The jungle warrior cat saw the girl coming closer and stood in front of Kari as he watched the girl carefully. She raised an eyebrow at the cat as if saying "What you gonna do kitty cat?" The back of her neck giving off a slight ominous black mist glow. She looked at Kari and squinted as she asked.
"You look really familiar, have we met before?" She asked walking closer passing the cat with no fear. Kari took a step back and gulped.
".. I... Think so..." Kari slowly took her hood off to show her face. "You go by 'Kaiser' by any chance?" Kari asked, tilting her head. The girl flashed a smile by the mention of her nickname.
"You wouldn't happen to be Kari would you?" Kaiser looked at Kari waiting to hear her answer. Kari nodded in reply.
"The one and only." She smiled innocently and giggled slightly.
"You've grown quite a lot since the last time I saw you. Glad to see you're doing good." Kaiser flashed Kari one of her famous smirks. Kari smiled at the compliment and giggled.
"Thanks, same for you." She said happily, putting her hands in her hoodie pockets. "I was wondering how you were. Now I know." Kari giggled childishly. That was when footsteps could be heard crushing the dead branches underneath. Kaiser looked to the noise as the jungle cat walked forward to the figure walking to Kari and Kaiser.
"What do we have here, two young ladies out in the woods, good thing you had one of my jungle cats with you." Chase said standing before the two of them. Kaiser put a hand on her hip looking at him.
"And who may you be, mister?" Kaiser asked watching carefully because of her slight trust issues. Kari went and hid behind Kaiser and peeked out from behind her back to observe the man. She was getting a bad feeling from him. Chase chuckled petting the head of his cat, as he looked at the tough looking girl and the timid girl.
"How rude of me, I'm sorry. My name is Chase Young, may I know your names ladies?" Kari gulped and then stepped out, finding a little courage and looked Chase Young in the eyes, hers narrowed slightly and her mouth was showing a slight, confident frown.
"I'm Kari, Kari Himura. Call me Kari." She huffed and put her left hand in her pocket and used her right thumb to point at herself. Kaiser let out a laugh as she ruffled Kari's hair a bit then she stepped forward a bit more looking at Chase.
"And I'm Katherine Luna, but I mostly go by Kaiser." Kaiser stated, flashing her famous smirk in his direction. Chase looked at them as he saw Kari glowing silver all over her body and black ominous mist around Kaiser's neck. He nodded understanding fully that he finally had what he was looking for.
"I see, what lovely names, it's a pleasure to meet you both. I must say it's a great honor in meeting the Copying dragon of the moon and the Mercilus dragon of illusions in person." Giving a bow to the two in front of him. Kari widened her eyes then looked up at Kaiser then back at Chase.
"Wha-what?!" She stammered in surprise. "Wai-wait. Y-you mean us. Please tell me you're joking. Tell me it's just a big joke! Cuz it's not funny!" With Kari's over reaction a small spike came up from behind her. "Ack! No, no please!" Kari turned towards the spike and trotted over to it and began to panic. "Damn it I'm losing my cool..." Kari gulped under her breath as she tried to fix what she had done. Kaiser looked at him with a humorous yet slightly confused expression, unsure as to what he was talking about.
"So you're saying you know what we're capable of?" Kaiser then looked over to Kari and sighed as she spoke up again. "Kari try relaxing, nothings more worse than someone letting their abilities get the best of them." She then walked over to Kari and gave her a gentle pat on the head. Kari took in a deep breath through her nose and then sighed out her mouth.
"K-kay..." She gulped and slowly began to relax, the spike of earth receding back to where it came. Kari looked up at Kaiser and gave her a small, innocent smile, not really sure what happened just happened. Chase smiled at the two before him as he walked over to them.
"Sorry to have thrown you off guard, but I am serious. You Kari can copy and use any ability at will. Whatever you see you can copy and use when you so please." Chase looked at Kari while he was talking to her then he looked at Kaiser before continuing to speak. "As for you, Illusions of whatever you want, weather it is a place or a person, you're able to deceive those around you." Kaiser nodding her head listening to what Chase was saying about the both of them. Kari just kept her eyes on him, not moving but she was paying attention.
"Well it's quite simple really; I'd like to help you both so you're capable of controlling your abilities properly and to their fullest capability." Kari blinked and looked up at Kaiser then back at Chase.
"So, uh I've got a question. WHY us? And what were you talking about when you said, dragon or something or other? I don't really get it..." Kari gulped. "Ok, so two questions. But they were bothering me." Chase looked at Kari and gave her a gentle smile.
"You both come from ancestors that were once great and powerful warriors, the last of the line of Copy and Mercilus dragons died about a century ago... Give or take a few years. It's been a while. But here you two are to bring greatness to the world." He said answering the first question. "It's just a title really." Simply answering the second one. Kari blinked and shivered slightly as a chill went up her spine.
"Whoa... Wait... If the line was dead then how.. Why... But... This shouldn't...." Kari stammered, beginning to overthink things. "Nngh... I'm gonna give myself a headache if I keep thinking so hard like this..." Kari gulped with a squeak. Kaiser shook her head slightly as she was confused as well. Chase grinned slightly amused by the girls confusion. He then cleared his throat a bit.
"They may have died, but they had children; however, each generation the abilities or gifts sort of, let's say "chooses" who is most qualified of possessing its power. Within that bloodline." He plainly put it for the girls to understand. Kaiser nodding her head finally understanding how that was possible for them to have their abilities. Kari blinked, understanding as well.
"Ok, that's cool... I think..." Kari stammered then let her gaze roam to the right. She saw what looked like a cowboy hat. She said nothing and immediately ignored it, looking away to a rock that looked similar to a star. Though it could have been a butterfly, or even a dragon fly since the shape was so vague.
----- Flash back, Xiaolin temple. That morning -----
Master Fung woke up for breakfast while his four students got ready. He waited for all to be present before he spoke. "Students," He began before anyone could take a bite of food. "There is something I must show you immediately after we eat. It is of the utmost importance." He informed and looked at his students.
"What is it Master Fung?" Omi asked, tilting his head slightly. Kimiko blinked and wondered what could possibly so important. Clay tipped his hat up a bit as he looked at master Fung with wonder in his eyes.
"It wouldn't happen to be another shen gong wu, or some new enemy we gotta worry about, right?" Raimundo asked as he raised an eyebrow at Fung hoping there wasn't going to be more trouble than there already was for them. Then Dojo came slithering into the room looking around as he spoke.
"Good morning everyone, lovely day so far right? So um, why isn't anyone eating just yet?" The young monks sat and looked at master Fung as they wait to hear what important news he had to share with them.
"Two of the scrolls in the scroll room showed something that could change the course of our victory. We need to find two people. One bearing the symbol of the legendary Copying dragon of the moon and the other bearing the symbol of the legendary Mercilus dragon of illusions. I will show you the scrolls after breakfast. You WILL need your strength today." Master Fung stated then nodded. "Let us eat." He smiled kindly, not wanting to panic anyone, then everyone began to eat.
While the monks were eating their breakfast, Dojo crawled onto Fung's shoulders as he was eating a piece of food himself.
"How could this be though, there hasn't been a Copying dragon and Mercilus dragon since in over a century!" Dojo somewhat remembered what happened to the last two. Master Fung sighed.
"They had children, Dojo. But none of them were qualified to be the dragons of legend, like their parents were. Same as their kids, and the next generation until the two dragons were forgotten by their bloodline all together, and thought of as just mere legends by us... Until today that is." Master Fung reminded the green Asian lung dragon as he swallowed a bite of his food. "I cannot believe you have forgotten such a crucial detail, Dojo Kanojo cho." Master Fung sighed in disappointment. Dojo winced a bit as he vaguely remembered that detail as he bowed his head in slight shame.
"You're right master Fung I'm sorry, but shouldn't we not be wasting a second because wouldn't Wuya, Jack, and Chase be hunting them down as well?" Dojo looked to Fung as the monks were focused on stuffing their faces with food so they had their energy for the day. Master Fung nodded.
"Perhaps, but if they get them first then it will be easier to find them." Master Fung smirked. "Let the Heylin side do the work for us, for once." Master Fung gave a slight chuckle. "As for you, Dojo, go and get the scrolls ready. You know the ones." Master Fung ordered as he looked at the green dragon. Dojo nodded his head as he sped down off of Fung and he rushed for the scroll room to gather the two scrolls that were needed to show the four young monks what they need to know. Clay finished eating his food just about the same time when everyone else was finishing up the last of their food. They patiently waited for Dojo to get back with the scrolls so Fung could tell them more of what they needed to know.
"I wonder how long Dojo will be..." Omi sighed as he messed with one of his chopsticks.
"Same here." Kimiko raised her hand with a sigh. Just then they heard a familiar squeaking sound. Like scales on the wood floor. Dojo came in carrying two scrolls under each arm that were a tiny bit larger than himself as he set the two scrolls on the table. The two scrolls glowed the same way as before.
"Whoa, never in my life have I seen any of the scrolls glow like that," Clay commented, looking astonished. Raimundo looked at the scrolls with bewilderment.
"Not all scrolls actually glow Raimundo, these two are of ancient, almost long forgotten legends." Dojo looked to Fung giving him time for the lesson of the day. Mater Fung smiled then opened the two scrolls onto the now clear table.
"Many millennia ago, during Grand Master Dashi's time, two dragons were chosen to keep the balance steady between the Heylin and Xiaolin sides. There was the Copying dragon of the moon and the Mercilus dragon of illusions. They were close to Dashi and helped him with many other things as well. Their bloodline was also chosen to have one predecessor for their respective line. But, over a century ago, the two dragons disappeared because their children were unqualified for the tremendous task. Grand Master Dashi along with the first two legendary dragons made these scrolls to reveal when the new legendary dragons were chosen or when they were ready to face their journey." Master Fung stated and then looked at his students, who were frozen in awe. "I know it is much to take in, but understand. They are very strong and, most likely this early on, unstable. Not only that, but the dragons have been known to be influenced by the opposing side. They are still human after all." Master Fung gave a kind glance to Raimundo then went back to his story. "If Chase, Wuya and Jack get ahold of both and plant the seed of evil then the world as we know it shall plummet into eternal darkness."
"Whoa..." Omi and Kimiko gasped in unison.
"That's a... lot of pressure. How do we find these two?" Kimiko asked. Master Fung smiled.
"The dragons bear symbols, looking like this. The Copying dragon bears the waning crescent moon while the Mercilus dragon bears a skull with crossed knives. They are not always in the same place or places as the last two dragons so keep your eyes open." Master Fung then felt a small shift. "We have wasted too much time! Go, hurry now to Chase's palace, they're sure to be there!" Master Fung ordered, feeling the balance shift more to the Heylin's favor slowly. Raimundo, Clay, Omi and Kimiko stood up and quickly headed outside as Dojo slithered along as fast as he could in order to fly the monks to Chase's palace.
