/Grande household/6:15 am/

"CHLOE LEAVE ME ALONE!" I yelled from inside of the bathroom my back against the door trying to keep Chloe from getting in. "It's a shared bathroom Nova!" Chloe yelled back trying to push the door open. I used all my body wait and finally was able to close it. I heard Chloe shriek. "Ow Nova! My finger! Mommy!!" She cried out and i hear her footsteps getting farther away. I crossed my arms with a huff, "That's what you get!"

"Mommy" I hear a small voice and look up from my laptop, "Chloe, what's wrong baby"

"Nova slammed the door on my fingers. Now she's locked me out." She tells me and I frown. Nova hasn't been herself these past few days, normally she's the loud one, but I swear now Chloe does way more talking then she does. Adding to it she'll pick fights with Chloe for literally no reason at all.

I guide Chloe in the kitchen to get her some ice and then go upstairs to the girls shared bathroom.

"Nova Isabella open this door." I shouted jangling the doorknob. No answer.

I sighed, "What on earth is she doing" I went into my bedroom and came out with the key, "I knew someday I was going to lock myself out of this bathroom" I laughed to myself unlocking the door to see Nova standing there, arms crossed.

I titled my head, "Nova? You and Chloe share the bathroom every morning. Today is no different, come on." I say telling her to come with me,  "Chloe get ready for school. We gotta leave in 30 minutes."

I closed the door to my bedroom so that it was just me and Nova. "Biscuit, what's wrong?" I asked calmly ready to listen to whatever she had to say.

"Nothing."

I sat on the un-maid bed. "You know I can tell when you're lying right?"

"That's not true." She says under her breath and I purse my lips, "Why not?"

"Then you would've known by now...You don't pay attention to me anymore."

"Yes I do, what do you mean?"

"You don't pay any attention to me unless I'm getting in trouble. You probably like Chloe more than me anyways." I was taken aback by her words. "What baby no, that's— I love you two the same."

"Yeah you love us both this much" she made a fist with her hand. A zero. "I know you're starting to get back on track and everything, and that you're working on new music or whatever...but what about me and Chloe?"

"I haven't forgotten about you two I swear I'm just-"

The door to the room creaked open and Chloe came in. "Nonna's here to take us to school, and then she'll pick us up, make us dinner...and then put us to bed." Chloe looked at her sister and then at me.

"Mommy I know it's hard with two of us. And it was still hard when daddy was here and now that he's not it's harder...but you're always on the phone, or at the studio or doing something. You said we had to communicate with each other, talk about our feelings right? And you sent us to a counselor because you thought we weren't comfortable sharing those types of things with you. But we are! Every time we try to talk to you, you're busy!"

My heart hammered against my chest while I rested my head in my hands. I had done it again. My work should never get in the way of me being a mother, ever. Before me and Mac even found out I was pregnant I promised him that.

"Babies, I never knew you guys felt like this. This it my fault. It's my fault okay? I'm your mommy, and I'm supposed to make time for you guys. You shouldn't come last or after anything. Ever. So you know what, how about after school, after I pick you up. We'll order in and have a movie night? Together?"

"As long as you don't cancel" Nova said holding up her pinkie finger. I hooked it with hers, "I won't." I pulled them both into a hug, "Nova if I ever blow either of you off for something else that can wait...I'm giving you permission to pinch me."
