In the beginning, there was a clan of beings, ancestors of the first mages of the world, theories being that they were ancestors to the modern human and monsters, on the continent on Pangaea. But with the split, any sort of clues to provide this have been lost to history, as well as how the magic split into different groups, forming the unknown Salt Mages.

Yet there was one consensus on their history. Human, Monster, or animal; a Salt Mage is a magic that anyone can use based upon the levels of salt in their personality. Making them the most passive aggressive and neutral party. This had lead to them being known as peacekeepers in many of wars, whether it be that ran by humans or by monsters. Yet one war stands above them all.

During the Human-Monster War, their refusal to pick a side lead to their downfall. Both sides of the war turned on them, slaughtering them till few remained. Once the humans one, their assurance that the monster seals into the underground and no mages existed in the world after the seals, magic was written from history. Yet seven remained.

The history of the Salt Mages is vast and varied. Each race and culture has their different stories of their origins that spread. Though these were mostly lost with few scraps left of them. Children of gods, spirits from salted waters blessing them, born of rock. All the stories vary.

In the modern day, the seven known are scattered with little to nothing to connect them.

In North America, Ruzie Chance is the known salt mage, reborn upon every death in the underground, throwing her about in the different realities. Each rebirth lead to memories lost, with only the memory of their death and how it was done, but not who did it. A variety of names have been used in the years.

In South America, a young man who works as a housekeeper at the Palacio de Sal in Bolivia is the know salt mage. It's rumors his mentor was the one who built the original hotel, then passed during the first closing.

In Europe, it's uncertain where exactly the salt mage is or who it is. It ranges from a young boy in Austria to an old Russian woman. It's theorized that the user can manipulate their appearances or it's in a constant flux of changing hands. Yet out of all the stories, many of them hinted to traits found commonly in monsters, thus hinted that they could be a monster.

Africa's salt mage has since moved to Canada, having created their own YouTube channel where they make reviews of craft kits and create their own create works of art. In addition to such, the woman is also a school teacher.

In Asia, a middle aged woman in Thailand, working at a noodle stand with her husband and three children. The restaurant was started by her grandfather when Taiwan separated from China in 1911 and has been passed down in the family since. The legacy of Asia's salt mages has been passed down in this family.

Australia's salt mage lives out in the middle of the outback, a monster that was able to escape the war and live by nightly travels and living in cool burrows during rainy days, in rivers and deep within the ponds. It's the form of a snake like creature, also associated with the Aboriginal myth known as the 'Rainbow Serpent'.

The Antarctica salt mage is by far the oldest of them all, having lived for centuries, before even the beginning of the Human-Monster War. And he stands as a 1'3", sentient Adélie penguin. Having mastered how to control salt and telepathy, it communicates in all human tongues known to man, but prefers to speak in Norwegian.

Even with the dwindled numbers, their powers grew in the individual until it came to their life being that of immortality until a heir of their will has been decided.

How it is decided it by observation. The mage watches them for a period of time and lets their bond grow by little interactions, making sure their personality is at the proper salt level. Once it has been decided, the mage approaches the chosen and explains the history. The chosen has then the option of agreeing or denying the destiny.

If the destiny is accepted, then a new soul will develop around them, the Soul of Salt. It starts weak, as only a small fragment of their mentor's power is passed to them. The more the prior mage ages or dies to reincarnate, the heir absorbs more of their powers until the prior mage fades to salt.
