[SS] See The Truth.

After Apocalypse, you had found yourself at the end of everyone's glares.

Charles had offered you a place at the school when he realised that you weren't like the others in the group of the horsemen.

He had seen something in you, although he never truly explained what it was. He knew that you were having trouble with the other students and how you wanted to keep your distance from them, preferring not to be on anyone's radar. So, he offered you his office—not to keep, of course, but to use in your free time, away from the others.

     You accepted without hesitation.

You knew that students didn't usually enter his office unless they were called, and even if they weren't he would have warned you before, just so you could go into the adjoining room to be out of sight.

The room was empty, and you could have easily just stayed in there, saving yourself the trip of getting up and entering the room anyway. But, you liked Charles' company, he was kind to you, and saw you as a student, rather than an enemy like the others did. Even Hank enjoyed talking to you, curious about your ability.

He asked whether you knew about the class system—which you responded with regular classes and lesson as an answer—but chuckled and shook his head, explaining the levels of mutants.

Class one being very common and most likely the larger population of the school. He told you about class five, being more rare and unheard of. Charles mentioning how Jean Grey was a part of the class five mutants, much like himself. You weren't sure why they bothered mentioning the class system.

"You're a class five, from what I can tell," it was the only thing that Charles said about it before going back to his work, while Hank nodded and told you that he was going to design a training program for your abilities to help you gain more control over your abilities.

They already knew of the force field generator you proved to be, and Charles claimed that he had never really seen the ability to your extent, once more, Hank agreed with him.

"Does that mean it will be harder for me to gain control?" You asked as you sat crossed legged on one of the chairs in front of Charles desk, Hank on the one to your right, his arms resting on the arm rests, his body relaxed.

     "It's a possibility." Charles nodded.

"So, that means it will be harder for other students to trust me, even more with the added almost killing the entire human race and destroying the Earth thing, right?" You saw him wince, it was not something he liked to talk about, neither did you, but it had to be said.

"There's a chance of that, yes," Hank chipped in, he sat up slightly, looking at Charles with an awkward agreeing smile and nod of the head before looking to you, your eyes showing sadness and worry causing him to stop nodding and frown.

"Great," you whispered to yourself before looking down at your hands.

"But it will prove to them that you mean no harm, that you want to be good, that you're not like Apocalypse." Charles smiled.

"Ororo didn't need to prove herself, they already like her, she was more into the whole destruction and chaos than I was, why am I so different? We are mutants, aren't we meant to be equal?" You sighed and rubbed your forehead, a headache coming about, you didn't want to talk about this anymore. "Do you mind if I just take a break?" You looked up, Charles nodded, knowing what you wanted to do, and Hank smiled sadly.

"The door should be open," he told you.

-

He was right. The door to the danger room was open, saving you the hassle of going back upstairs to Charles' office and asking for the keys, going back and forth between the sea of students who—you were certain—wanted you dead.

You pushed open the door, the blue lights began to turn on, starting from the floor, making their way up to the ceiling, with a small dinging sound as the room was ready to operate. The black panelled walls moving, getting ready for the training.

You found you could only ever train alone. Not only did the other students refuse to train with you, but you always managed to lessen their abilities or strip them from them completely for a short period of time. So, no one could train with you. It wouldn't be fair to use force fields on a powerless mutant.

"What are you doing in here?"

     "Training." You sighed.

"Is it bitch o'clock already?" Scott mocked as he looked down to his watch. "Didn't realise it was that time of day already," he sneered.

You turned around and saw him. His arms crossed over his chest and his right shoulder was against the wall, you sighed. Out of all of the other mutants, he was probably the one you wanted to avoid the most, along with Jean.

"No, but it is honesty hour," you curled your lip up.

You didn't know why you were digging a grave for yourself, and a pretty deep one at that. He already hated you and wanted you gone, you didn't know why you were giving him a reason to help build your grave deeper and pushing you in himself. Mentally, of course, he would easily disintegrate you if he wanted to.

"You killed my brother." He was trying to control his breathing.

"If I killed your brother, which I didn't-" You tried to explain.

"You're lying!" Scott yelled and you could see that his lips were turned down, like he was trying to stop himself from crying, his voice breaking in pain.

"No, I'm not, and I would appreciate it if you would stop accusing me for something I, personally, didn't do." You could feel anger and annoyance swelling up inside of you, growing tired of him very quickly.

"You killed my brother," he growled out once more, he lowered his twitching hands to his sides, hopefully he wasn't going to do anything irrational. But he stepped closer to you, pushing himself off the wall and walking down to where you were in the room, just a couple of feet in front of you, still keeping distance.

"Did you physically see me grow a new mutation and explode him with his own energy? Did you physically see me use my mutation to block his own energy at the same time as checking to make sure your Professor was still breathing? I didn't do anything to your brother, I've never killed before," you told him with a sigh.

He tightened his fists once more, almost bouncing on his feet in anticipation. But you didn't know what for.

"No, no, you're still lying," his voice rose even more. "You were with him, you were a part of his team, you were going to kill people. How could you be okay with that? You could have easily killed my brother, why should I trust you?"

You tightened your own fists getting annoyed. You could feel the light purple balls of energy gather around your hands. Growing bigger and bigger with each second ticking.

"Because I'm not a murderer." You could see him go straight to his glasses and ripping them off. You lifted up your hands quickly, the purple shield protecting you from his energy, your ability absorbing it, causing the purple to seep into a red. "But it looks like you could be." You smirked. "Straight for my head." He stepped closer, his eyes burning to yours.

"If you're not a murderer, if you didn't want to kill anyone, then why did you join him?" Scott questioned.

     "I didn't have a choice."

"Everyone has a choice and you chose to be a killer," he spat at you, stepping closer once more.

"If I killed your brother, what makes you think that I won't kill you?" You smirked.

"Shut up," he growled, getting angry about you mentioning Alex to him like it was now nothing to you. If he was going to act like a child, then you would just retaliate.

"Pathetic, really, you must be weak like he was-" Scott pushed forwards and crashed his lips to yours, one hand tightly gripping the fabric of your shirt. His eyes squeezed shut as you kissed him back, his other hand holding the back of your neck keeping your head close to his, not wanting you to pull back just yet.

The kiss was slow, almost painfully slow. Scott must have felt the same as he began to warm up, getting more into the kiss. Your hands gripping the sides of his shirt, standing on your tip toes so he didn't have to bend down as much.

Scott pulled back slowly, his lips still grazing yours, his eyes squeezed shut. You opened your eyes slowly, you were both surrounded by the—once more—purple force field.

"Tell me the real reason," he mumbled quietly, he opened his eyes without thinking about it, the force field turning red again.

"I was scared." You shook your head. "He got into my head, humans killed my parents, he gave me hope—false hope. But he told me that he would kill me if I didn't go with him." You sighed. "I was alone for so long, I just wanted some place, anyplace, to call home."

It wasn't long before his mutation had no effect and your force field somehow stopped his eyes from shooting out the lasers, the force field dropped and was no longer surrounding you.

"What did you do?" He asked as he blinked.

"It won't last forever; my mutation stops others for less than half an hour." He furrowed his eyebrows before nodding. "So, if I did use my ability on your brother, then it would have taken a lot longer than the five seconds it took for him to run to us." You shrugged as you lowered your hands.

"Yeah," he spoke quietly as he nodded in defeat, it didn't take long for the shields to go up, but it took you about twenty seconds to absorb the power, not reflect it back.

"I would never hurt someone like that, human and mutant alike, I get upset if I see a bee struggling to walk, how am I meant to take away someone's life?" You tilted your head, you desperately wanted him to see the truth, but you weren't sure if that was going to happen. All he saw when he looked at you was red, and not just because of his glasses.

"You could have tried to stop him," he told you, you only shook your head. "No? What do you mean no?" He questioned harshly.

"I tried to..." He opened his mouth to respond. "The second day I joined him I saw him kill a man, for trying to push pass a mutant, no other reason besides that, I tried to save the man, but his powers somehow broke my shield, I could do nothing to stop him." You crossed your arms over your body.

"Is that why you have the-" He motioned his hand to his neck, you lifted your hand up, wincing as you touched the skin of your own neck, it was still sore.

"He strangled me." You shrugged. "I deserved it." He shook his head. His hands playing with his glasses.

"You didn't deserve it, you still don't. You don't deserve any of the hate that we give you." He rubbed his eyes as they started to sting. "That I give you." You looked down to the floor.

"No, I fully understand why you all want me dead, trying to extinct the human race to build a new world for mutants and all that."

You waved your arm at him, brushing his comments off before pain settled over you, you stayed silent as he stepped closer, hissing at the pain in his eyes. You quickly raised your hands just as the red shot out of them again.

"Sorry," he whispered as he blinked a couple of times after you absorbed the energy once more. Placing his glasses in his back pocket.

"Don't be, you have nothing to be sorry for, you're the good guy. Good guys shouldn't have to apologise," you told him. He didn't respond with words, but he placed his lips back to yours softly, kissing you once more.
