[SS] Lasers And Vanishing Speed.
Scott stood in front of you with a smirk on his face, his head tilted back slightly while his right hand held a laser tag gun resting on his shoulder. Behind him stood Jean, who wasn't really paying attention to the two of you as she spoke to Kurt, and Jubilee, who was smiling at you widely, happy that she agreed to come.
Scott's smug expression continued as he eyed you up and down, licking his lips slightly while waiting for the doors to open up.
Kurt stood on your left looking down at the gun confused, Jean explaining to him how to use it. Peter stood on your right with his left arm resting on your right shoulder, his gun in his right hand on his shoulder mimicking Scott. You stood there staring at Scott with a glare while your laser tag gun was already positioned in your hand ready to shoot.
Behind Scott there were a set of double doors, and behind you stood another, each set leading to the arena. On the left of you, a single door leading to the main entrance area of the laser tag lobby. While the wall on your right held the station with the chest plates and laser tag guns. The doors behind you led to your team's area, while the doors behind him led to his own.
Scott had first dibs on the team colour. He picked red. Ironically. You didn't mind, especially as Kurt was more than happy to be the blue team.
"Loser pays for dinner," Scott spoke up just as the countdown above the doors began to count down from one minute.
"That's so kind of you to offer, Summers." You smirked back at him.
"We're going to wipe the floor with you, the red team is going to win." Scott leaned his head towards you slightly, his eyebrows raised as he teased you.
"Are you sure you're going to be able to see clearly in there, hot shot? Because I think you'll be blinded, only being able to see red and all," Peter replied with a scoff, his left arm moving to wrap around your shoulders.
"Ha-" Scott mocked sarcastically, looking at Peter. "So, funny." Scott looked back to you. "Don't worry too much, I'll go easy on you, sweet cheeks." You were sure if you were able to see his eyes you would have seen his wink at you. But you couldn't, so you just assumed that was what he did.
"Keep talking, Summers, it will be easy for me to find you in there if all you do is trash talk shit." You poked his chest roughly with the gun just as the timer beeped and the doors opened. "See you on the other side, pretty boy." You winked at him before walking backwards into your area, Peter and Kurt following your lead.
-
You nodded to Peter who nodded back and walked down one of the side paths with his gun up, Kurt tagging along with you looking at the strobe lights.
"Is this a common American thing?" Kurt asked as he leaned his head down to you.
"I guess, it depends on whether you like laser tag, same goes with paintball." You shrugged as you looked around, making sure none of the others on Scott's team were nearby.
"Paintball?"
"Yeah, it's where you have teams and have paint pellets and shoot at people who aren't on your team while on different courses."
"You shoot people?"
"With little balls of paint, yeah."
"Wouldn't that be painful?"
"It can leave a bruise, but it's a good workout," you told him as you spotted the back of Jubilee. "Hold your gun up," you said as Kurt moved to hold the gun. "Aim there." You pointed to her back.
"Okay..."
"Now press the trigger." You smiled while he pulled it. You watched her plate flash and you pushed Kurt to the side with you to hide from her. "Good job."
"Did I win?"
"You got us a point."
"Is that good?"
"It's good."
"Not for long," you heard Jubilee speak up, you turned around and saw her while a scowl. "Payback." She shot at both you and Kurt before running off somewhere.
"Great," you groan.
"That's good?"
"No, now we are a point behind."
-
After a while, Kurt got the hang of shooting and soon tallied the charts with Jubilee being hit five times, Jean being hit three, and Scott being hit eight times. Scott tended to talk a lot before shooting, almost like he was making up some role-playing game.
Kurt was hit nine times. Peter managed to hit Scott a total of fifteen times, Jean seven times, and Jubilee four times. But Peter was hit almost thirty times before trying to do rolls and stunts while. While you were hit six times, and hit Scott twelve times, Jean three times and Jubilee four times.
It was almost half an hour into the game, at first none of you were following any tactics and just shot at the opposing team if you encountered them, but now halfway through you decided to make a plan.
"Kurt, I want you to get a bird's eye view on where Scott's team is then come back for us," you whispered to Kurt as you huddled together coming up with a plan.
"I can do that." Kurt nodded before you heard the small 'bamf' with blue smoke left behind.
"And me, boss?" Peter poked your cheek.
"When Kurt comes back and tells us I want to you run to the girls and get them out." Peter nodded before standing straighter, saluting.
"What about Scott?"
"I'm taking him down myself." You smirked at him, he simply grinned and turned to the side when he heard Kurt come back.
"What happened to you?"
"Jean read my mind and told Jubilee to blind me with sparks." He rubbed his eyes.
"Don't worry boys, change of plan, you two go get Scott, I'll take care of the girls." They nodded to you before disappearing. "If they want to play dirty, then game on." You climbed up part of the obstacles and concentrated until you watched your body slowly disappear from sight, the strobe lights shining right through you.
-
"Do you think Kurt's okay?" You snuck up behind Jean and Jubilee, smirking to yourself as you lifted up your gun and aimed for Jubilee who was closer to you. You knew Jean wasn't reading your mind, but rather the boys, as she considered them more of a threat.
"Yeah, you didn't do that much damage, it was like a flash bomb, a very small one." Jean shrugged as they continued walking through the maze.
You pulled the trigger and quickly climbed up the obstacle as Jubilee's chest and back plates flashed red to blue with small beeps before turning back to red. Jean spun around and shot at the space you had previously been standing while you shot at her, her chest plate doing the same as Jubilee's did.
You quickly jumped to another obstacle in search of the boys, you could hear Scott and Peter talking to one another, trying to outdo each other. But when you made your way over to them, Scott had his back to you, holding Kurt as a prisoner in front of him, so Peter couldn't get to his chest plate.
You knew Peter could have easily ran and shot Scott but then Kurt would have been hit. You lifted up your gun and shot at Scott's back, his plates beeping going red to blue. He spun around and you weren't quick enough, he shot at you, your body becoming visible again as your plates went blue to red.
"Point red." He grinned before both Peter and Kurt shot at Scott.
"Point blue." You shrugged.
Your plate flashed again and you spun around to face Jubilee who was smiling widely, you smiled back, before your plate went off two more time because of Scott and Jean. You glared before shooting at both girls again.
-
Soon enough you all found yourselves just shooting at each other in a cluster. You and Scott firing back comments while Jean and Jubilee made plans for the next weekend while shooting at the boys. Kurt asking Peter whether this was how the game usually went while Peter lied and said yes before lying about other things.
"Red team is going to win," Scott announced, just as the timer flashed on for the remaining thirty seconds.
"You're far too confident in your ability to play laser tag, Summers." You shook your head, shooting his chest plate, he shrugged, not really caring about it as much.
"Maybe, but what happened to your strategies and plans?" He laughed lightly as he shot back at you.
"Jean happened," you told him before hearing Jean laugh.
"I was not cheating," she told you, with the roll of her eyes. "Your team was using powers as well." You looked back at her and shot her back as she became distracted by Peter.
"Stop reading my mind, carrot top." You turned back to Scott, both of you shooting one last time as the buzzer went off and the lights began to turn back on, the strobe lights turning off.
"I wasn't..." Jean mumbled awkwardly.
"Yes, you were." Peter laughed.
"We all used our powers to cheat." Jubilee shrugged.
"Apart from death ray over here." You jabbed your thumb towards Scott who held his arms up in surrender.
"I don't play dirty." He grinned before making his way to the exit doors.
"Play dirty?" Kurt asked Peter as you all followed Scott to the exit.
"Cheating," Jean commented before Peter could.
You placed your gun in the holder on the wall before taking of the chest plate, hanging it up. You helped Jubilee with hers when she got confused with the straps, Kurt waiting for you to help his as well when he got his tail stuck.
"Where are you taking me for dinner?" Scott crossed his arms over his chest as you finished helping Kurt.
"You didn't win." You glared playfully before walking out to see the scores.
"Oh, but I did, either way, we're going out for dinner, so who's the real winner here?"
"Neither," the instructor spoke up. "You both got the same scores." Scott quickly walked up to the desk to check.
"No way." He kept rereading it.
"Yes way." The instructor shrugged before talking to the next group.
"Looks like no dinner for you, Summers. You lost the bet." You laughed lightly before walking towards the entrance doors to leave with the others.
"How about dinner anyway?" Scott caught up with you as you all made your way to the stolen car Scott hotwired from the school.
"Are you asking me out?"
"I guess." He tilted his head to the side.
"Dinner? I'm in," Peter interrupted as he bit into a Twinkie.
"Looks like they'll be joining us." You held back a smile as you watched Scott groan.
"Next time they won't," he muttered as he followed you to the car.
