[JL] Nail Polish.

It was the middle of the afternoon, Jubilee was sitting on her bed painting her nails while you were on your bed reading. The curtains were pulled open, Jubilee had opened the windows as far as she could before she got you to open them further. You laid on your back, your head almost hanging off the end of your bed as the book hovered in the air in front of your face. Jubilee glanced over to you when she heard the page move, and watched as it flicked over by itself.

"It's still weird to see you do that," she commented, blowing air over her nails to dry them quicker.

"It's still weird to see you make fireworks," you responded, a smile making its way on your face.

"Rude," she scoffed quietly, throwing one of her unused nail polishes towards you, rolling her eyes as she watched it stop in the air before floating back over to her. "You make it impossible to for me to hit you," she joked.

"Oh, I'm sorry. Why don't I just let you pummel me with hard objects for your own entertainment next time?" You laughed. Moving the book over to your desk as you rolled onto your stomach to look at her. "I'd rather not get hit, thank you very much."

"Well," she muttered, tilting her head as she went back to painting her nails. You rolled your eyes, moving to sit by the window, overlooking the garden. Jubilee groaned and you turned to look at her. "I should have done by toenails first." You snorted a laugh. "You do them." She pointed her toes at you. You shook your head with a smile, looking back outside.

     "No thanks."

She huffed. "Fine, I'll just tell a certain someone about your crush on them." You could tell that she was smirking. You gulped and turned your head to look at her.

     "You wouldn't dare."

She ignored you, pointing her toes at you once more with a wide—albeit fake—grin, shaking the nail polish bottle at you. You groaned, breathing deeply out of your nose as the bottle floated out of her hand, staying in the air as the lid unscrewed itself. Jubilee squeaked in happiness as the brush hovered over her toe, gently swiping the bright colour over her nail.

"Who is going to even see this? You always wear shoes, Lee."

"I'll know I have it on. So, do a good job and your secret will stay hidden."

"You know, I'm beginning to think that your power comes straight from the fires of hell itself. It could explain how you're able to make them explode and blind people."

Jubilee waved her unpainted hand at you. "Shh, paint."

"I'll multitask," you mumbled, bringing your book back over.

"No, no. Last time you did that you almost ripped Scott's glasses off his face when you were trying to show him how you could turn a glass of water upside down and keep the water in the cup."

     "That happened ages ago."

     "It happened yesterday."

"Really? Then what am I thinking about?"

"The time when you almost broke Warren's wings when you tried to see if you could levitate Peter off the ground while he ran in circles to make a tornado?"

"What went wrong that time?" You asked. It happened to work very well.

"The tornado wouldn't stop and it caught Warren!"

"Oh yeah, yeah." You nodded. "But that's not what I'm thinking about."

"What about the time when you made a bet with Alex that you could make his plasma energy into any shape he wanted, like the balloon animals, and you almost exploded the school? Or how about the time you and Ororo almost electrocuted Hank when you tried to move the storm cloud around the pond? Or how about when Kurt—"

"Okay!" You yelled loudly. "I won't multitask!"

Jubilee smiled to herself, shaking her body lightly with giddiness as she continued to paint her hand. "I'll need you to do my other hand when you're done so it looks as good as this one." She waved her almost completely painted left hand at you. You groaned, hitting your head against the wall. "Stop complaining."

She continued to paint her nails while you smile at her, shaking your head. You stared at the bottle of nail polish as the brush lightly removed the excess polish off it and moved to her nails. You turned back to look out into the garden, smiling faintly as you saw the burn mark on the ground outside where the lightning struck.
