(The answer to last chapters question is religion. The theme of this stories X-men team is religion)
In addition to the normal classes the students now designated as the new X-Men were now required to train in the danger room as a team for at least a half hour every other day. The Professor and Magneto did not plan to let these kids out into the field unprepared.
"Kitty now!" Kurt quickly yelled prompting the girl clad in clue to quickly turn intangible before she could be shot by the laser of the sentinel they were fighting.
Billy and (y/n) watched from the observation booth with the professor and their grandfather as with their powers the metal monstrosity would have already been beaten.
Kitty quickly climbed the sentinel, moving towards its head as it was unable to touch her. She quickly stuck her head through its head before pulling out a bunch of wires, causing the machine to fall to the ground. Kurt quickly teleported to Kitty and grabbed her before she hit the ground before teleporting again so they were safe on the ground.
"How'd we do?!" Kitty yelled up to them.
Charles hit the button for the intercom. "You're improving. Half of your previous time"
Kitty quickly punched the air excitedly before high fiving Kurt.
She then looked back up at the observation booth. "Your turn wonder twins!" She yelled teasingly.
(Y/n) smirked as he glanced over at Billy. "I know this goes without saying but we've gotta just demolish their time. Show them what we can really do"
Billy let out a small laugh. "Whatever you say"
A couple moments later and (y/n) and Billy were now down there with two functional sentinels while Kitty and Kurt were where they had been a moment ago. "Three, two one" Erik spoke before the sentinels were activated.
Billy wasted no time at all. He quickly moved his hand and it glowed blue before the sentinel before him quickly crumbled to pieces.
(Y/n) took a couple more seconds than Billy but he quickly used his magnetism powers to disassemble the sentinel he was supposed to fight and reassemble it into a house. "Tada!"
"Boo! To quick!" Kitty called down to them. "At least take a few hits. It's good showmanship!"
"Aw! Is someone jealous she's not an omega level Mutant?" (Y/n) asked a bit to smugly.
"Greek letters or not I can still kick your butt" Kitty spoke before quickly stepping out of the observation booth and landing on the ground a moment later.
Billy rolled his eyes before glancing at Kurt only to see him with a similar reaction. Somehow Kitty and (y/n) seemed to have become rivals since being made parts of the team. It was exhausting to watch.
"That's enough for today" Professor X's voice quickly caused the two students to stop bickering. "On Sunday we will be switching over from sentinels to villains. I trust that is alright with all of you"
Everyone quickly gave their own version of a yes.
A couple moments later (y/n) was rushing from the danger room back to his own dorm. Once back there he took a shower before getting dressed into a pair of khakis and a short sleeve button down white shirt.
He looked at himself in the mirror as he finished buttoning up the shirt. "Looks good" he muttered to himself as he placed his favorite kippah on his head.
He glanced at the clock. He had another half an hour. Plenty of time. He had been afraid training would have thrown him off but evidently not.
(Y/n) sat down and glanced around, unsure of how to spend this time. "I could..." he started speaking before stopping and wondering why he was talking to himself.
Ten boring minutes later the boy suddenly heard a knock on his door. "Oh thank god" he muttered. He walked to the door just as Kitty poked her head in. "You didn't know what to do while waiting either?"
"Yep" the girl spoke as she walked inside and over to the mirror as she looked herself over. She was wearing a nice blue sweater and a long modest black skirt. "Figured I'd ask if we could start early. I'm starving" she spoke as she quickly adjusted her hair.
Kitty hadn't grown up the most religious girl, although she was far from being not religious, however after meeting (y/n) she had gotten into a few of the customs she hadn't done before. One of which was having sabbath dinner with the boy every week. Occasionally they'd have others join them but it was usually just the two of them. Professor Xavier had even given them a room specifically for those purposes hallway between their dorms. The whole thing was a nice change of pace from the hectic everyday mutant life.
"Is the food even ready?" (Y/n) asked as he watched kitty.
"Should be hot by now" Kitty shrugged as she turned to face him. "If it's not I'll just ruin my appetite by filling up on challah"
(Y/n) rolled his eyes. "Well we live with a bunch of other kids, I guess if you don't finish all your food it'll be easy enough to find someone else who will"
"Exactly!" Kitty grabbed the boys arm before pulling him towards and through the door. "I'll light the candles and then we can eat"
"Alright, alright we'll start early" (y/n) let out a small laugh at the girls eagerness. "But you have to go on a walk with me tomorrow"
Kitty let out an over exaggerated groan. "That's boring!"
"It's Shabbos I'm gonna be bored either way since I don't have any new books to read" (y/n) countered as the two continued to walk towards their destination. "That's why I need you to amuse me"
"Fine" Kitty groaned exaggerating it again however she didn't try to hide the small smile on her face. "I guess I can do that"
