Here
"I'm gonna go to my room and shower so j-just make yourself comfortable and I'll be out in a jiff." I said and internally groaned who in the hell says be out in a jiff?
'Apparently you do now.'
I ignored her and lead the way.
"This will be your room, again it should be fully stocked but if you need something you can find me down the hall, uh just knock and I should answer."
"Hey...if you're not comfortable with me here I really can call a car." He tried to offer.
I let out a sigh, "no I'm just...spazzing out because honestly I've never had a guy stay here...but let's get showered and then we can talk."
He nodded and made his way into the room before I continued on my way to my own room.
Of course as I entered my room I found my phone ringing, I rushed over to see it was my dad.
"Dad?"
"Grace, where were you, I've tried to call you every since you left." He sounded frustrated.
"Sorry I just got home.
"Well I'm glad to hear your safe." He said with a sigh, "you should probably call Augustine and tell him wherever he is, he should pull off the road and try getting a room...this storm is only going to get worse."
"Uh...Augustine is here with me."
"What?!" He growled. "No...he cannot stay there."
"Is that an order?" I growled in return.
'Calm yourself.' My wolf reminded me.
"Dad..." I tried more calmly now. "I don't feel comfortable letting him go out in this storm, not to mention that I drove us over here to Harmond so I'd have to drive him to no mans land and then come back home."
I gave him a moment to let everything sink in.
"Dad...it's mom's old apartment...you know the place has two rooms, you don't even have to order me to stay away from him while he's here...we don't even know each other that well yet."
"And that's what worries me." He sighed. "You don't know that he won't try anything."
"The one thing I DO know is he IS my mate, and as my mate he will do as I ask and won't hurt me." I tried to reassure him. "I wish you would trust me."
This time I couldn't hide the hurt in my words.
"Gracie Princess...this is all new to me, you've always been mine and now you are somebody else's."
I rolled my eyes and smirked. "Dad I'm still your daughter...nothing can change that you crazy old man..."
He chuckled.
"You act like I'm going to run off and just never see you or Mom again...I only just met Auggie and we're still trying to figure everything out."
"Auggie?" He sounded and sighed, "I didn't miss the fact that he called you Gracie earlier."
"Everyone close to me does."
"But Auggie?" He asked.
I smiled and felt the small blush on my cheeks, "I like it better than Augustine."
He sighed a little, "Well, be smart and be safe...I love you princess."
"I love you too Dad."
After that I rushed into the shower knowing Auggie would more than likely be finishing up already.
I showered and once out I dried off and braided my hair loosely before pulling on any old pajamas just like I would if one of the girls was sleeping over. I slipped on some socks and finally made my way out of the room, bringing my wet clothes with me.
"Auggie?" I called out as I made my way to the washer.
"Yeah?" He called back.
"Could you bring your clothes to the washer?" I asked as I set my own into the washer finally and then tiptoed to reach the soap.
I don't know why I keep putting it so high if I struggle every time to reach it?
"Here, let me get that." He suddenly sounded as he cooly stepped up behind me and reached up easily and removed the soap. "You're so damn short." He smiled, it was a gorgeous full smile but I only kept eye contact with him as he spoke, because I didn't give him a shirt so his chest was fully exposed.
'you didn't give him boxers either.'
I couldn't face him so I spoke with my back to him, "And you're too damn tall...now is everything out of your pockets?" I asked as I started up the machine.
Turns out he'd left his wallet in and had to take that out before finally tossing his clothes in with mine.
"Thanks."
"It's nothing...I've got a washer and dryer and you need clothes to go home in." I said as I walked past him and back to the living room...I suddenly found it near impossible to be near him this close without wanting to be closer or touching.
"So...do I even want to know how you have basketball shorts big enough for me?"
I smirked and rolled my eyes as I took a seat on the sofa. "Back in high school, the school made a horrible attempt at trying to de-sexualize the female body by having us wear 'uni-sex' gym uniforms...but this consisted of overly large male shorts and t-shirts...the uniforms were nixed soon after when us girls would go to do push up and you could see into the clothes easily so it in fact put us on display more than tried to hide us."
"Oh shit...I'd of been pissed."
I shrugged, "It was more embarrassing than anything." I admitted.
"No girl should feel embarrassed about her own body."
"Thank you." I said. "Of course my parents were pissed...mom especially and being not only Luna, but a Lawyer...she was ready to take on the whole school district."
"I don't blame her."
"Sorry there's no shirt." I said now, "I don't care for super baggy shirts...the shorts just so happened to be buried in my drawers." I admitted.
"It's cool, I don't usually sleep with a shirt on anyways." He said as he took a seat on the sofa with me.
I could smell him and smiled, "sorry all the soap and shampoo is on the feminine side."
He smiled again, "I don't mind."
"You warm enough, I can crank up the heat if you need."
"I'm fine." He said cooly.
"Okay...uh, did you need anything, had enough to eat and everything?"
"Gracie...I'm fine, I promise." He sounded softly, "I'm still full from dinner but...I'd like it if we could talk, I want to get to know you better...can we do that?" He asked.
I nodded and relaxed a little, I knew I was acting weird. "Okay then...what do you want to know?"
He shrugged before getting more comfortable on the sofa, "I don't know...anything."
I rolled my eyes, "Well I don't know either." I laughed a little from nervousness.
"So then start at the beginning...what kind of kid were you like?"
Once we began talking everything seemed to flow naturally, of course I was telling him about myself but he would also add his own life experiences, likes, dislikes, and other information I found myself mentally storing.
We sat there for hours, just lost in conversation...not once feeling bugged by his questions, or awkward as I felt like I may be talking too much.
It was kind of cathartic if I was being one hundred percent honest.
Just opening up so freely, talking about everything that just came to mind without filters or barriers and since we didn't know one another before hand there were no preconceived notions or judgmental looks.
Talking to your mate is amazing...it's, well...it's like writing everything down in a diary that no one knows about so you know your secrets will always be safe.
And as late as it was I felt wide awake, but I noticed him trying to hide his yawns.
"Why don't call it a night?" I suggested. "This storm isn't letting up any time soon so honestly you may be here a little longer than you originally planned."
He shook his head, "I'll take off as soon as the storm lets up...I don't want to become a bother, plus...as comfortable as your basketball shorts are...I only have one set of clothes here so can't stay too long."
I nodded, "Alright...well get some sleep, and make sure you sleep near your phone tonight in case of emergencies." I said.
He got up and wished me a good night before taking off to the guest room. I hung back to put the forgotten laundry into the dryer, praying they didn't smell moldy or musty from sitting in the washer for so long, then I turned off all the lights before finally making my way to my bedroom.
I smiled as I passed the guest room, knowing Auggie was in there... but went on my way.
As I finally laid down, still wide awake I couldn't help but think about Auggie right now. I wondered how he sleeps?
Wonder if he sleeps with the blanket off or on, does he sleep on his stomach, side, or back, does he snore, is he a restless sleeper or very still, does he sleep sprawled out, more casually relaxed, or curled in on himself, is he a heavy sleeper, or does he wake easily?
I pulled my own thick blanket up to my chin before I turned to my side, balling up to try and contain my warmth and closed my eyes.
