At Hell In a Cell, Samoa Joe defeated Sting to become the new WWE Champion. The following week on RAW, Kevin Owens pinned the champion, in a epic match to become the #1 Contender.

On Thursday night Smackdown, AJ Styles made a shocking return, and staked his claim to the WWE Championship. Shane McMahon would then add him to the mix at Survivor Series.

On the final RAW before Survivor Series, Kevin Owens attacked Samoa Joe, after the champion had a match with Roman Reigns. While they were fighting, AJ Styles enters the fray, and he takes both competitors out. He then holds the WWE Championship above his head, setting up a Triple Threat Match for the ages.

The Match: As soon as the Bell rings, Kevin Owens and AJ Styles begin to double team Samoa Joe. Joe manages to fight back, and for 5 minutes, Joe wears down his challengers with various attacks.

AJ then slows the momentum of Joe, by attacking his knee, following it up with a DDT. Styles then hits a running dropkick to Joe and he goes for the cover,  but Kevin Owens breaks it up.

Owens then throws Styles out of the ring, and he begins to attack Joe. Owens backs Joe up into the corner, and he hits him with a running Clothesline, causing him to sit to the bottom.

Owens then goes for the Cannonball, but Joe moves out of the way, and he hits Kevin Owens, with a Shotgun Dropkick. Joe then brutally hits Owens with various kicks and strikes, before taking him down with a snap Powerslam. Joe then goes for the cover, but Owens kicks out at two.

Joe then traps Owens in a chin lock, hoping to wear the Prizefighter down. Owens then elbows Joe in the gut, breaking free. Owens then stuns Joe with three punches to the face, and he bounces off of the ropes, only for Joe to catch him, and attempt a Belly to Belly throw, but Owens counters it into one of his own.

Owens then hits the Cannonball on Samoa Joe. Before he could go for the cover however, AJ Styles comes out of nowhere with a Phenomenal Forearm to Owens, causing him to roll out of the ring.

Styles then begins to wear down Samoa Joe, trapping his arm in a hammer lock. Joe then fights out, but Styles catches him with a Enziguri to the side of Joe's head. AJ then builds momentum with a series of strikes, before getting a Belly to Belly throw from Joe.

Joe then begins to sit AJ up, and he kicks him repeatedly in the chest. Joe then gets a full head of steam, and he dropkicks Styles in the face. Joe then goes for the cover but Styles kicks out at two.

Joe then places Styles on the top rope, and prepares to hit a Superplex, but Owens comes in and he Powerbombs Joe, who Superplex's AJ. Kevin then covers Styles, who kicks out at two. Owens then covers Joe, who also kicks out at two.

As frustration grows in Owens, he takes out a Steel Chair, and he places Joe in the bottom of the turnbuckle. He then places the Chair in the face of Joe. Owens then hits the Cannonball on Samoa Joe, cracking the Chair into his face.

Owens then goes for the cover, but Styles breaks it up at two. Styles then hits Owens with various strikes, before hitting him with his DDT named Bloody Sunday. Styles then goes for the Phenomenal Forearm, but Owens catches him with a Pop-Up Powerbomb in mid air.

Owens then goes for the cover but Styles kicks out at two and a half. Owens then goes out of the ring, and he grabs the base of the steel steps, placing them in the middle of the ring.

Owens then goes for another Pop-Up Powerbomb, but Styles counters it into a sudden Phenomenal Forearm. AJ Styles then hits Kevin Owens with the Styles Clash, on the Steel Steps, but Joe traps AJ in the Rear Naked Choke, AJ then fights out of the hold and tries to lock Joe in the Calf Crusher, but Joe traps Styles in the STF.

AJ manages to break out of the hold, but Samoa Joe kicks AJ in the face, knocking him unconscious. Joe the places AJ on the top rope, and he hits the Muscle Buster, getting the three count.

Winner: Samoa Joe
