7--Robin

"You ready?" KF asked.

I shrugged, gritting my teeth. "Try not to tear off too much skin."

He smirked. "Don't be a baby."

A corner of my mask was pinched between Kid Flash's fingers. He slowly started to pull it off as I gritted my teeth in pain.

"Don't worry," KF said. "No blood yet."

He pulled it a little faster. "Ow!"

"Sorry!" He paused for a minute before starting again, slowly. I gripped the toilet seat so hard I'm surprised I didn't break it.

"Almost...there," Kid Flash said. The rest of the mask came off swiftly and painfully. I rubbed the area where the mask had been, feeling fresh air once more. I blinked a few times, getting used to the light without my mask on. I stood up and was met with a pair of bright blue eyes. "Wow," I said. "I-I forgot what I looked like without that thing on."

Kid smirked at me. "Shame, I thought that you'd be prettier."

"KF!" I growled.

He laughed. "Kidding, kidding." He smirked again. "But your still not as goof looking as this guy!" He pointed to himself.

I shoved him playfully. "Shut up," I said. "When have you ever had a girlfriend?"

"Oh, come on," he said. "Miss Martian's totally digging the Wallman!" He stopped himself. "I-I mean..." he groaned.

"What?" I asked.

"Well, it's too late now," KF said with a sheepish grin. "My identity, my name, I pretty much just told you. It's Wally."

"Oh?" I asked.

"Now, don't tell Batman, alright?"

I smirked. "As long as you tell me everyone else's names. I mean, the reason you took off my mask is because I've gotta get some new clothes." I glanced down at the worn out hand me downs from Kid-er, Wally. "I should know your civilian names so no one thinks I'm crazy for calling you your hero names."

"Fine," Wally said. "Come on."

~
We walked towards the bio ship with a ton of bags in our hands. "You know, I really didn't need all this-"

"For the tenth time," Wally said. "Shut up."

"Come on, Dick," Megan said. "Didn't you have fun?"

I shrugged. I guess it was kinda fun...but I wouldn't admit it. "I don't know. I just wish Batman hadn't made me wear these," I said, pointing to my sunglasses. "It's not like anyone would recognize me."

"He just doesn't want Slade to get a hold of you," Wally said.

I shrugged. "He couldn't if he wanted to."

"You should not underestimate Deathstroke," Kaldur said. "He would recognize you from a mile away."

"But we're not even in Gotham," I complained. "We're in Star City. He wouldn't think to look here."

"Let's just get back to the mountain," Megan said. I sighed and complied, sitting down on the weird seats in the bio ship. It was actually my first time inside, and I had to admit that it was really weird.

"Do you think we can watch a movie when we get back?" Wally asked. "And have popcorn."

Kaldur shrugged. "Unless Batman has a mission for us."

"Sweet!" Wally exclaimed. "What do you think, Dick?"

I shrugged. "Sure. I haven't seen very many movies. Only the one's I've seen at the mountain."

"Yeah, and that's rare," Wally commented. "Supes is always watching static on the tv."

"Where is Superboy anyway?" I asked.

Wally shrugged. "Beats me. He doesn't really do well out in the public. Anger issues and such."

"He's trying," Megan said, defending Superboy. Everyone but Wally's caught on that the clone and the Martian had a thing for each other, even me. Every time Wally opened his big fat mouth, he seemed to be saying something mean about the clone without meaning to offend Miss Martian, but he did anyway. I decided that I needed to change the subject. "What's Superboy's civilian name?"

"Connor," Megan said, beaming.

I nodded. "Cool," I said, trying to sound interested.

We arrived at the mountain and everyone got out. The bags were taken to my cell before we all went to the living room to decide on a movie. Superboy came upstairs right at that moment. Megan immediately went over and sat besides him and they started to talk. If they weren't dating now, they would be soon.

"We should watch one of those old Batman movies," Wally said with a smirk. "They're so lame it's funny!"

"Why don't we watch a romance?" Megan asked. All of us but Kaldur groaned. We were still getting used to a girl on the team. Weird, I thought. Do I really consider myself part of the team?

Our soon to be movie night was interrupted by the Zeta beams announcing the arrival of Batman. "Aw, man," Wally complained. "Sorry, Dick. I guess we'll have to put that movie night on hold."

I shrugged but actually felt angry at it. Just when we were going to do something that normal teen friends did, Batman had to ruin it. I was finally feeling totally and utterly accepted, but now...

I was pulled out of my thoughts when I heard Batman calling my name. "Huh?"

"We're debriefing the team, the whole team."

My face lit up in a smile. "You mean-"

"Hurry it up, Richard," Batman said.

"Yes sir!" I said, jumping off the couch.

~

My assignment was simple. I had to shut down everything; the security, locks, codes, computers. If it needed a password, I was the man to hack it. Hacking had always been one of my strong points. I did my job from a computer in the cave with the team sending me info, but I was still ecstatic. They needed me!

Batman gave me the code name Robin. I had told Black Canary in one of our sessions that's what my mom used to call me when I was in the circus. She must have told Batman, but I tried not to think about that. I was helping and I liked it!

"Robin," Kaldur said into my earpiece. "Shut down the security."

"Gotcha," I said with a smirk. It took my exactly thirty seconds to dismantle. "Cleared, Aqualad. Over."

"Good job, Robin," Wally said. I heard the other's shushing him. I understood. They weren't suppose to be seen or heard, but I liked that Wally at least tried to be encouraging. I hoped they'd say I was a good team member after the mission.

My job got boring after a while. They hadn't needed me for ten minutes, so I pulled up one of those air hockey games up on the computer. Almost immediately, Batman's face covered the screen. "What are you doing?"

"What? I got bored." So, he was monitoring my screen time. I exited out the game.

"If your not ready when the team needs it most, you could be the reason for their capture or death. Your not on your own anymore. If you slip up-"

"Okay, okay, I get it," I told Batman. "Work first play later. Now will you stop stalking me?"

He ended the call and I sighed, bringing my knees up to my chest. It was another ten minutes before I had to hack a door's code then another five before I unlocked a computer. I picked up the laptop and brought it with me to the kitchen. I grabbed a Coke and a bag of chips from Wally's stash. He's gonna be so pissed! I chuckled softly and sat on a bar stool, eating my snack.

"Robin!" Came Kaldur's voice sounding urgent. "We need you to shut down this robot!"

I was sent info on the robot, but couldn't make sense of it. I decided to try anyways. I tried everything I could, but none of it worked. "I can't!" I said in slight shock. "I-I don't understand..."

"Well you better figure it out, fast!" Superboy's voice growled.

"I'm trying!" I said. I tried again and again but couldn't figure it out. I started to panic. They're all gonna die and it's gonna be all my fault!

"I-I'm sorry!" I said. "I-I don't know how to shut it down!"

"Calm down, Robin," Kaldur said. "It is alright. We did not mean to pressure you. It is your first time and we should not expect you to do everything for us. We will be fine once we finish the android off."

I scrubbed the tears away. "A-are you sure?"

"Positive."

I took a deep breath. Crying under pressure? Seriously? What are you, five? "Okay." I turned back to the computer. I studied the code. "This isn't human," I muttered to myself.

"Yes!" I heard Wally exclaim. "We did it!"

I let out a sigh of relief. My friends were fine. They weren't going to die. I didn't kill them.

About an hour later, the team was back. Wally ruffled my hair, knowing I hated that. "Great job, Dick," he said. "Not bad."

I smiled weakly. "I guess."

"Hey, the android wasn't even human," he said waving his hand. "We weren't expecting you to know that much about alien technology. Besides, not even Megan knew what that thing was."

"Really?" I asked.

Wally nodded with a smile. "And after a mission like that, I'm starved." He sped into the kitchen to get a snack. Three, I thought. Two. One.

"Dick!"
