"We should get going if we want to be there before dark." Menchi says, looking up at the sky.

Everyone boarded the airship. About five minutes after taking off, we landed on a mountain, that was quite literally split in half.

"Now, everyone look down there." Menchi said leading us toward the ravine.

"What is that?"

"A Spider Eagle's web." Menchi replied.

"They build webs down there?" Gon asked.

"Look below the web. Those are Spider Eagle eggs." Menchi said.

"Spider Eagles build their webs in deep ravines, to protect their eggs from predators. This makes their eggs one of the most difficult ingredients to obtain. The eggs are also known as dream eggs." The chairman explained.

"W- Wait a minute you don't mean we..." The rude guy said.

"I sure do." Menchi replied, jumping down the ravine.

"Even if she can grab some eggs, how will she climb back up?" Leorio asked. "Hey she jumped down!" Amazing observation.

"Is she trying to kill herself!" He shouts. "No, she is not." Kurapika replied.

"This ravine has updrafts that help the hatched chicks fly up to the web." The chairman added.

"There, now I just need to boil the egg." Menchi said when she got back up.

"Y- You must be joking! No reasonable person would jump down their!" The rude guy is quite a coward.

"I've been waiting for this!" Gon yells while jumping down.

"Okay! Count me in!" A bald guy yells.

"Wait! I haven't finished explaining!" Menchi yelled.

"That looks like fun." I say before stepping of the cliff.

"Let's go!" Leorio yelled like the idiot he is.

"Not yet." I swear Leorio would be dead without Gon.

"Why not?" Do we need to explain everything to you!

"There's no wind." Killua said.

"There isn't always an updraft." Kurapika explained in more detail.

"When's the next one?" I swear to fucking god Leorio.

"Wait."

The web started to give into the weight. "The web won't hold us all!" Kurapika yelled. Really? Wow I didn't notice.

"Gon, not yet?" Killua asked.

"Damnit! I can't wait for a updraft!" Somebody yelled before jumping to their death.

"Now!" Gon yelled, causing everyone to jump off. I swear they put so much trust into a child.
I quickly grab an egg then allow the updraft to push me back up.

"And the rest of you?" Menchi asks the other applicants.

"It takes courage to concede, too." The chairman responded.

"Hey, Y/n? Why did you jump down, you already passed." Gon asks while we walk to the airship.

"If I pass the hunter exam I will have passed more phases then everyone else, making me better then you all." I explain. "Plus I got food so it's a win-win." I add.

"That's seriously your reason?" Killua asks.

"Yep." I say popping the p.

"That's a dumb reason." Killua replied

"You're just mad because I'm better than you." I respond.

"That's the dumbest thing I've heard all day! I'm clearly better than you!" Killua argued.

"Whatever lets you sleep at night." I say before walking off to boil my egg.

After eating our eggs we went back to the airship. "Allow me to introduce myself to the forty-three remaining applicants. I am Netero, Chairman of this year's Hunter exam Selection Committee."

"I am his secretary, Beans." Oh, the green blob guy.

"Originally, I had planned to make my appearance during the exam's Final Phase, but as I'm already here. I'm loving the tension in the air! So I think I'll stick around for the rest of the trip." Is this guy serious?

"We are scheduled to arrive at our destination tomorrow morning, at 8 am. You'll find dinner waiting in the dining hall. You are also welcome to get some rest. In other words, you're free to do as you please until you are contacted." Beans explained.

"Okay! Gon, Y/n let's explore!" Killua yells.

"Yeah!"

"Alright."

"How can they have so much energy? I'm hitting the sack." Leorio asks.

"You can say that again." Kurapika responds.

After leaving to catch up with Gon and Killua, whom I've somehow lost, I find myself eavesdropping on yet another conversation.

"Hey, how many applicants do you expect make it?" Is that Menchi?

"You mean who'll pass the exam?" Buhara asks

"Yes this year we have an impressive group, though I failed almost all of them at one point." Menchi resonds

"But doesn't it depend on what the upcoming phases consist of?" Buhara asks.

"That's true." Mensch replies.

"But didn't you notice, one of them had this whole aura thing going on. What do you think Satotz?" Menchi directs the conversation towards the first phase examiner.

"Oh, yes. I like the rookies this year." Satotz replied.

"I think 295 has a good shot." Menchi said. The bald guy?

"I'm partial to 100." Killua okay.

"He looks like a selfish, spoiled brat." How dare she!

"What do you think Buhara?"

"He isn't a rookie, but 44 is the one I favor." Ooo Hisoka? "I'm sure you noticed, but when 82 was attacked, it was 44 who was really on the verge of killing someone."

"I did notice that, of course. He could barely restrain himself from tearing off our heads." Menchi replied. "But didn't you realize? He was already that way the first moment we appeared." He was?

"Really?" Buhara asks.

"Yeah, that's the real reason I was so edgy. He kept challenging me." Sounds like Hisoka.

"I had a similar experience, he should be carefully monitored." Satotz says.

"Then I'm sure you noticed, he only seems to calm down around 82." Wait what?

"Yes, I quite fear whatever relationship they have." Ah how I love ease dropping.

"I heard someone say something about them dating." Seriously, literally everyone thinks that now.

"That could be possible." He's a thirty year old clown!

"I doubt he's Y/n's type, they can do better." Ooo I can do better?

"Eavesdropping darling?~" When did he- I'm not gonna question it.

"Yep, So apparently I can do better than you." I reply.

"I heard~"

"I'm so going to convince as many people as possible that we're dating." This is an opportunity I can't miss.

"Alright~" Hisoka says letting out a small chuckle.

"Hey, Kids! Stay out of the kitchen! Go eat in the dining hall!" Of course I leave them alone for five minutes and they find trouble.

"I'm assuming you want to talk to them~" Oh right, Hisoka.

"Yeah, Goodbye." I say while walking away from Hisoka.

"Oh there you are Y/n! We lost you!" Gon says when he sees me.

"Yeah, what are you guys looking at?"

"Oh here! See the ground looks like it's covered in jewels!" Gon says pointing to the window.

"Oh, cool."

"Hey Killua, I was wondering where are your mom and dad?" Gon asks. I was kinda wondering the same thing.

"Hm? Oh there alive. Probably." That's concerning.

"Huh? What do they do?" Gon asks.

"They're assassins."

"Huh? Both of them?"

"Oh, so that's what you meant by your mom wants you to be an assassin!" Well that makes more sense.

"That's your guys first reactions? You guys really are a riot!"

"Huh?" Gon asks. It's so nice to have someone who questions everything for you. Now I don't look like an idiot too.

"You're the first people who've responded seriously." Killua explains.

"Well, you're telling the truth, right?" Both me and Gon ask.

"What makes you think that?" Killua questions.

"It's just a hunch." Gon replies.

"That's weird, people only like me because they can't ever tell whether I'm serious. I'm from a family of assassins... So they're all assassins. And my family has really high hopes for me, but I can't stand it. Who wants to have their whole life planned out for them?..." Family of assassins.. Family of assassins.. is he a Zoldyck? He fits the description my mom gave me. Same name, Same hair color, Same eye color. Yeah he's definitely a Zoldyck.

"...When I told them I wanted to decide my own future, they all snapped! My mother had tears streaming down her face, as she told me I have the potential to be the top assassin. Horrible parents, right?" It's natural their kid would go bad. We ended up fighting. So I stabbed my mother in the face, my brother in the side, and ran away from home. I'm sure they're out for blood now. But if they find me, I'll send them packing. When I become a Hunter, I'll start by capturing my family. I'm sure they're worth some hefty bounties."

Killua's rant was cut off by bloodlust coming from the hallway behind us. We all turned in the direction of the hallway.

"Something wrong?" The chairman asks while walking towards us.

"Ah, Netero-san did you see anyone coming from that side?" Gon asks.

"You're pretty fast, for an old man." Killua says.

"That little trick? I barely moved." The chairman responds.

"What do you want? You don't have anything to do until the last phase, isn't that right?" Killua questions.

"Now, no need to be so unkind. I got bored and was looking for some companions. By the way, I meant to ask you three, any thoughts on your first attempt at the Hunter Examination? The chairman asks.

"Uh-huh! It's fun! And there haven't been any of the written exams I was dreading." Typical Gon.

"I'm disappointed. I expected the exam to be more difficult. I assume the next phase will be more entertaining?" Typical Killua as well.

"Well, now I wouldn't know about that." The chairman replied.

"Let's go, Gon, Y/n!" Killua said turning away. Any reason to not answer questions I guess.

"Now wait just a moment. Would you care to play a game with me?" The chairman asks, getting our attention.

"A game?" Gon asks.

"If you defeat me, I shall let you be Hunters." He adds. Oh, sounds boring then.

"Really? I'll play!" Gon shouts.

"Alright." Killua replies.

"And you?" The chairman asked turning towards me.
