"I apologize for the wait." a purple haired man, whom I assume is the examiner for this stage, said. "The entry period for the Hunter applicants has ended." He continues "The Hunter exam will now begin. A final caution. If you are short on luck or ability, you could very well end up seriously injured or even dead. Those who accept the risks, please follow me. Otherwise, please exit via the elevator behind you."

After a small amount of waiting, in which nobody left, the examiner continued speaking. "Very well. All 405 applicants will participate in Phase One." The people in the front started running.

"I've neglected to introduce myself. I am Satotz, the Phase One examiner. I shall lead you to the exam's Second Phase. The examiner said.

"Second Phase? What about Phase One?" Someone in the front asked. Even though it was quite obvious that this was Phase One an endurance test. Well sort of an endurance test, the kid on the skateboard wasn't told to stop, but everyone else had to run.

"It has already commenced" Satotz replied. I wonder how he speaks without a mouth? "It's already begun?" "This is part of the test?" Some people were confused.

"You must follow me to Phase Two. This is the exam's first phase," Satotz explained again. "Follow you? That's it?" Another person asked. If I was the examiner I would've killed someone by now.

"Yes. I cannot tell you where or when you must arrive. You need to follow me." Satotz was obviously getting annoyed of their questions.

(SpongeBob narrator voice)
2 hours later

We've ran around thirty kilometers, and the examiner speeds up every hour. So I probably will end up having to run over sixty kilometers.

"Hey! Wait up kid!" Someone yelled.

"Hmm?" Oh the skateboard kid.

"You should show the Hunter Exam some respect!" The old man from earlier yelled.

"What do you mean?" Glad I'm not the only one confused.

"Why are you using a skateboard? That's cheating!" What?

"Why?" Ok so I'm not an idiot, it's just the old man.

"Why? This is an endurance test!" Yep the old man's an idiot.

"No it isn't." Both me and the weirdly familiar kid say.

"Huh? Gon, what are you saying?" Wait Gon? Oh so I am an Idiot. Wait Hisoka's in this exam! No!

"The examiner only told us to follow him." Gon says. So he doesn't recognize me either, I'm not just a bad friend.

"Yeah, he would've told the kid if he wasn't allowed to skateboard." I added.

"Whose side are you on Gon?" The old man questioned, completely ignoring me.

"Hey how old are you guys?" The skateboard kid asked, now right beside Gon.

"I'm twelve years old!" Gon answered, ignoring the old man.

"18"

"Guess I'll run too." The skateboard kid said, doing some cool trick on his skateboard.

"Wow! That was cool!" Gon said impressed.

"I'm Killua"

"I'm Gon"

"Y/n"

"Wait Y/n? I didn't even recognize you!" Gon said with a shocked expression.

"You know each other?" Killua questions.

"Yeah it's a long story. But we've never met in real life we just text each other." I explained.

"Oh." Killua says.

(SpongeBob narrator voice)
2 hours later

God we've been running forever, but we probably don't have more than forty kilometers left.

"Hey, forget him." Killua says from behind me. I stop running and turn to look at Killua and Gon, who are standing in front of that old man. "Yeah let's get going." I add.

"Screw that, I'm gonna become a Hunter! Damn it all!" The old man yelled before running off.

I turn back and see Gon use his fishing rod to pick up the old man's suitcase. "Cool!" Me and Killua say at the same time. "Hey Gon let me try that later." I say. "Me too!" Killua added.

"Yeah but let me use your skateboard!" Gon answered! "What about me?" I ask "You can too! I just wanna use his skateboard!" Gon replied.

(SpongeBob narrator voice)
An unspecified amount of time later

"We've reached the eighty kilometer mark. It is now time to pick up the pace a bit." The examiner said. "Wait are you serious?" "This guys insane." "He's prancing up the stairs as if they're not even there!" "If he keeps up this pace tons of people will fail!" I'll just say not many people liked that idea.

"You guys wanna race?" Killua asks.

"Sure." Both me and Gon answer. "Loser has to buy dinner!" Gon adds.

"Okay you're on!" Killua responds.

I run next to Gon and Killua for awhile, noticing how we're getting closer to Gon's friends. "Catch you later, old timer." Killua says as we run past them.

"I'm not old! I'm a teenager, just like you guys! The apparently not so old man yelled.

"Huh?"

"No way!"

"What!"

Me, Gon, And Killua all yell confused. "There's no way that you're a teenager!" I add. "I am! I just look old for my age!" He yells back.

(SpongeBob narrator voice)
A little while later

"I'm impressed that you guys can keep up with me." Killua says after noticing how many people were dropping out.

"Really?" Gon says

"Or maybe it's just that everyone else is to slow." Killua corrects "Man... the Hunter exam is going to be a breeze. That's no fun." He adds.

"Hey, why do you want to become a Hunter?" Gon asks Killua. "Me? I'm not really interested in becoming a Hunter." Killua responds.

"Huh?"

"I heard the exam was supposed to be really hard, so I thought it'd be fun. But this is disappointing. What about you?" Killua replies.

"Well, my dad's a Hunter. So I want to be a Hunter just like my dad." I thought you didn't know your dad?

"What kind of Hunter is he?" Killua asks.

"I don't know." I swear you're going to be the death of me.

"That's kinda weird. You want to be like your dad, but you don't know anything about him."

"I was raised by Mito-san, so I've only seen my dad in pictures."

"Who's Mito-san?"

"Aunt Mito."

"Oh. Hey why do you want to be a hunter?" Killua directs the conversation to me.

"Hm? Oh I don't, my mom is forcing me to participate in the hunter exam. The original plan was to fail the first stage, but I want to hang out with you guys more." I answer.

"I don't like your mom! The Hunter exam is really dangerous! You can get hurt!" Gon I love you so much right now.

"Our moms are kinda alike, except my mom wants me to become an assassin." Killua replied.

I was about to say something, but Gon got to it first. "The exit!" I quickly look up to see a white light. I guess I'm going towards the light.

We pick up the pace, quickly running up the stairs, passing the examiner in the process.

"Goal!"

"Yay! I win"

"What are you talking about? I was faster."

"I was."

"No, I was!"

Gon and Killua started arguing about who won, though I'm quite sure it was a tie.

"Hey, who was faster?" I ask the examiner as he walks, err runs? Out of the tunnel. Effectively making Gon and Killua stop talking and look at him.

"I believe that you all crossed the finish line simultaneously." The examiner replied

"Then I'll buy Y/n dinner, Y/n will buy Killua dinner, and Killua will buy me dinner!" Gon said, confusing Killua.

"I don't get it." Killua replies.

"Or, we could all just buy ourselves dinner." I add.

"That's a great idea!" Gon says.

"It's definitely less confusing." Killua adds.

"Hey, Satotz-san. Is this where the Second Phase takes place?" Gon asks the examiner, ignoring Killua's remark.

"No, we still have quite a way to go." Satotz responds.

"Oh... Hey Kurapika!" Gon yells to the yellow haired guy.

"Is this our destination?" The yellow head, Kurapika? Asks.

"No, it isn't." Gon answers

"I see. The fog is fading." Kurapika, it is Kurapika right? Mentions.

"The Numere Wetlands, also known as Swindlers Swamp." The examiner starts explaining. "We must cross these wetlands to reach Phase Two of the exam. This place is home to many bizarre animals, many of them being cunning, insatiable creatures who deceive humans and prey upon them. Be very careful. If you let them fool you you're dead." The examiner warned.

"Wait for me!" I turn to see a guy crawling up the stairs, but not making before the door closes. The guy has to walk all the way back to the elevator now.

"These wetland creatures..." The examiner continues, not at all phased by the person. "...will use every trick in the book to fool their pray. An ecosystem in which creatures obtain food through deceit, hence the name Swindlers Swamp. Stay very close to me so you won't be deceived." The examiner finishes.

"What a joke." The old man from earlier says. He said that he's a teenager, but I refuse to believe him. "How can they fool us, when we're expecting it?" He's about as smart as a two year old I'll give him that.

"Don't let them fool you!" A man cried out from behind me.

Fun Facts

• You might of realized that when Y/N was speaking the word 'Hunter' isn't capitalized. (Nobody noticed) This is because they hold 0 respect for the exam, or Hunters in general! (This is a trait that only Y/n will have, as they are the main character! Plus I can't be bothered to do that for everyone.)

• You also may have realized (most likely not) that Y/n only remembers Satotz's name for a short while after it's said, other wise they just says "the examiner"! This is because Y/n can't be bothered to care!

• Y/n isn't scared of Hisoka! Y/n knows that if he kills them he'll be killed so you assume that he won't, for now at least! And they're  suicidal in this story so that's another reason!
