Chapter 1

Twirling the small knife idly in his hand helped Jung Hoseok to pass the time as he patiently waited. He had been crouched in the corner of the entrance hallway ready to strike at any given moment. His guard never dropped as he prepared to pounce on his prey the second he walked in the door. The rest of the house had been empty, dark, and silent for the last five hours. In all honesty, he was starting to get bored but he knew it would be worth it in the end.

It had been surprisingly easy to enter the home of his victim. No security cameras, no personal guards, no complicated security locks, nothing. At first, Hoseok had wondered if he had entered the right house. But after a quick sweep to ensure he was alone, he had found evidence in the form of pictures that indicated he was indeed at the right location. It just stumped him when he was met with no security measures like he had expected to find.

To Hoseok, it was highly unusual that the youngest son of a notorious gang leader - one of the most prolific gangs in all of South Korea - had absolutely no measures in place to keep him safe. But Hoseok wasn't complaining. After all, it made the job to kidnap the gang leader's son that much easier for him. It was one less obstacle he had to overcome. Now it was merely a game of patience until said victim got home.

The distant sound of the front metal gate opening alerted Hoseok that he was no longer alone. It appeared as if his patience for the last few hours was about to pay off. He straightened from his crouch into a standing position and switched his knife into his left hand. His heart remained calm as he turned his head towards the door on his left. The handle rattled as the keys were inserted on the other side. It was now or never.

Finally, the door opened and in walked his victim. Hoseok's presence was completely undetected as the other male closed the door behind him. Hoseok's eyes quickly scanned him from head to toe to ensure there were no visible weapons. Satisfied he wouldn't be at immediate risk of harm, and that he was taking his victim by surprise, he took his chance. He lifted his left arm up until the blade of the knife was directly against the pale skin under the bobbing Adam's apple.

"Any sudden movements and I'll slit your fucking throat faster than you can blink," Hoseok said in a low voice as he applied slight pressure to his victim's throat to make his intentions known. "Blink twice if you understand me."

Two blinks.

"Now, drop the keys in your hand and slowly bring your arms out in front of you, palms facing the roof," ordered Hoseok as his right hand reached behind him and slipped the handcuffs out of his back pocket that he had prepared earlier. The other listened to the instructions with no hesitation. "No sudden movements."

With a quick snap and click, the handcuffs were secured around the other man's wrists. Hoseok ignored the slight panicked look he saw as he tugged on the metal to check they were locked in place. Content that he was no longer at risk from retaliation, Hoseok slowly stepped around until he was face-to-face with the bright red haired male, knife still firmly against his throat.

"Pleas-" the other man started to plead but was cut off by the blade that was harshly pressed into his delicate skin.

"Not a fucking word," growled Hoseok with anger. "I mean it. You'll be dead quicker than you can blink if I hear another thing from you. Understand?"

A small nod and nervous gulp was his answer. Hoseok switched the handle of the knife into his right hand. The next item required had been tucked into the waistband of his tight, black pants - a burlap sack. With his free hand, he blindly slipped it out from where he had stored it, his eyes never once left the male in front of him.

With a pointed look, Hoseok slowly lifted the material higher until it was above the dyed red hair. Carefully, slowly, and purposefully, he lowered the sack over his victim's entire head. Only once he was sure that the other couldn't see and had been probably immobilised, did he finally take a few steps back and put his knife into its holster strapped to his right thigh.

"Stay," he demanded in a low tone.

No movement or sound came from his victim. Hoseok quickly shrugged off his backpack, his eyes flickered up every other second to ensure that the other male didn't try anything. He unzipped the main section of the backpack and blindly rummaged around the few items inside until his fingers graced over what he was searching for. He pulled out the small see-through plastic case which held a single syringe, prefilled with a drug, inside. Perfect.

"Arms out," barked Hoseok once he had noticed that his victim had lowered his arms without permission before stood up and haphazardly discarded his backpack off to the right.

The now blind male immediately complied and his arms rose until they were held up in front of him again. Without any more delay, Hoseok proceeded to open the plastic case and carefully take the syringe out. He uncapped the needle tip, pushed the syringe until a small drop came out, and flicked the needle with his fingers. Harshly, he grabbed the right forearm of his victim.

"Fuck," hissed the other male as the point of the needle was pushed into the junction of his elbow without any warning.

"Quiet," hissed Hoseok in return as he pushed the syringe all the way in, watching as the contents disappeared into the skin below, before he pulled the needle tip out. The whole ordeal was done within mere seconds.

It didn't take long for the effects to start. As Hoseok started to collect and tidy up all of his items, the other male began to sway on the spot. He barely glanced in the other's direction as he saw him drop to the floor, a nasty thud accompanied the fall. He knew he was out cold but his concern level was non-existent.

He pulled out the burner phone from his backpack and rang the only number on it. As he placed the device to his ear, he collected the forgotten keys the red haired male had dropped at the beginning of their encounter and shoved them into his backpack for safekeeping. He then swung the backpack onto his shoulders and squatted in front of the unconscious male just as the other person answered the call.

"Bring the car around," Hoseok said into the phone before he hung up as he heard a grunt of acknowledgement.

After Hoseok shoved his phone into his back pocket, he scooped the unconscious man into his arms easily as if he weighed nothing. He managed to open the front door with his right hand and carried his victim, bridal style, across the threshold. He paused on the porch as he turned back, his eyes scanned the dark foyer to ensure he had everything, before he managed to close the front door with his arms full of an unconscious lump.

Right on cue, a black van came to a screeching halt in front of the metal gate. His heart pounded with excitement from the prospect of being so very close to completing his mission. The back door to the van slid open as Hoseok power walked over. Two dark shadows stood inside the back of the van, arms held out as they waited for Hoseok to pass the unconscious male to them.

"Tie him up," ordered Hoseok as he quickly passed the male over to the two men, dressed in all black from head to toe, with balaclavas that concealed their faces.

With a grunt, Hoseok heaved himself into the back of the van and slammed the sliding door shut behind him. He didn't need to say a word as the driver immediately took off. He groaned from the sudden jolt and grabbed the back of the driver's chair to remain upright. It was only due to his quick reflexes that he had caught himself, otherwise he would have been thrown to the back of the van.

As the other two tied his victim up by threading metal chains that hung from the van's roof through the handcuffs, Hoseok hoisted himself into the front of the van and settled himself into the passenger seat. He wiggled off the backpack and placed it on the floor between his legs. He sighed a breath of relief when he saw the dark, silent, empty street grow smaller in the side mirror, not another soul in sight.

"How'd it go? Did he put up much of a fight?" asked the driver of the van; Hoseok's good friend Kim Seokjin.

"He compiled like a good little dog," chuckled Hoseok as his eyes moved to the dark road in front of him.

"I'm glad you called when you did," continued Jin as he skillfully sped through the back roads of Seoul, avoiding as many main roads as possible. "Another hour with these two, and I was sure they were going to eat me alive."

"Can you blame us? It's way passed dinner time and we only had stupid snacks with us," huffed Jungkook from the back as he pulled the balaclava off his face, revealing the lip and eyebrow piercings hidden beneath as well as the long, wavy, black hair that had streaks of blue in it. "Didn't we do good, Hyung?"

"Yeah, yeah," huffed Jin as he rolled his eyes before making a sharp right turn. "I'll make sure you two have extra food when we get back. You did good."

"You're the best," cheered Taehyung as he too pulled his balaclava off to reveal his somehow perfectly styled light blue hair.

"And me?" amusedly asked Hoseok as he shot his older friend a knowing smile.

"You did good too, Seokie. But you don't need me to tell you that, now do you?" teasingly cooed Jin.

"You idiot. I know you know I meant food," growled Hoseok in annoyance which caused the other three to laugh nonetheless.

"Of course our wonderful leader can have extra food," Jin rolled his eyes before he took a sharp left followed by a sharp right. He slowed the van as they finally approached their destination. "You don't even have to ask."

"Yeah right," huffed Hoseok, knowing full well he needed to beg Jin in order to get extra food.

Even if Hoseok was the leader, he normally wasn't treated special or given any extra benefits purely because of his position. And that's what made him so beloved throughout his gang. He demanded respect and made sure it was given rightfully in return. He never asked his members to do a task that he, himself, wouldn't do. If he couldn't get his hands dirty, why should they be expected to? No one person was more important than another and that's what essentially set his gang apart from all the other gangs.

All four males felt relief at returning safely back to their home. The black van slowly rolled towards the secluded, three storey, industrial warehouse. Jin flicked the high beams towards their entrance three times. Moments later, the giant sliding door began to move aside. The van slowly rolled inside until Jin had manoeuvred it to its designated parking spot. As the group pulled to a complete stop, more members of the gang gathered around the van.

Hoseok was the first to exit the vehicle. He walked around to the back of the van, the entire crowd watched his every move, silent with anticipation. They all had the same question on their minds. Was it a success? A dark smirk overtook Hoseok's features as he ran a hand through his short, light brown hair. Without a word, he pulled the back doors open and revealed his new prize possession to his fellow members.

Awkwardly knelt in the back of the van was his newest hostage. The burlap sack was still over his head which was drooped forward, probably because he was still out cold. His hands hung above his head in what was a no doubtably painful position, handcuffs connected to the roof via the metal chains. Both Jungkook and Taehyung unhooked the chains and easily dragged the unconscious male out of the van. Murmurs filled the warehouse as dozens gathered to watch the events unfold.

"Take him straight to B4," ordered Hoseok with a disgusted look in his eyes. "Make sure he's secured. I'll deal with him after we've had something to eat. No one touches him except for me."

"You got it boss," Jungkook nodded as he and Taehyung dragged the male through the onlooking crowd.

Hoseok smirked to himself as he shut the van's back doors. The crowd around him slowly dispersed. Well almost. His trusty right hand man Namjoon and his skillful hitman Jimin stayed behind, no doubt to get the details off of him. He sighed almost tiredly as he saw Jin round the other side of the van with keys in one hand and Hoseok's backpack in the other.

"Over dinner? Please? I'm starving," pleaded Hoseok as he grabbed his backpack from the purple haired male and walked away from the trio without waiting for a response.

The four of them walked in silence towards the kitchen and dining area on the ground floor. Hoseok could tell it would be a long night ahead of him still and he needed some sustenance before he tackled it. He still needed to have some fun with his newest toy before he would allow himself to unwind for the night. His main goal was to hold the male for ransom, but why not try to extract any juice information while he was there.

Even if Hoseok collected the ransom on his rival's youngest son within the next few days, he hoped that he could get some interesting information before he released him. Anything at all, even the smallest tip, that would help him get an upper hand over the most prolific gang in all of South Korea. After all, his aim was to bring his rival's gang down one by one until his own gang was left on top.
