The italics are a nightmare. It's similar to the nightmare in Chapter Nine but a bit more graphic.

The nightmare basically tells you what happened in Alice's past. It will give you a bit of insight into the character of Alice.

But you by no means have to read it; skip over it if you are uncomfortable.
