Can everyone see this ^^^
Since this is just switching back and forth between povs imma just do Mark's POV in bold and Jack's in italic. Just like the way they wrote to each other since they won't be writing at all... I'm sorry
I woke up to voices in the distance. I recognised them as Amy and Robin. They were talking g about finding me. Calling my name tauntingly.
I grabbed my bag and quickly climbed down the tree I was still in, hurting my hand on the way down. I pushed the pain away as I ran away from their voices, following the roar of the river from a distance.
I tripped again and landed on my wrist, hard. A loud crack pierced my ears and I had to bite my lip to resist the urge to scream.
After a few minutes I was able to climb to my feet. I couldn't hear any voices or anything at all over the pounding of my heartbeat in my ears.
I stumbled to the rivers edge and placed my hand in the icy cold water. Them a voice cut through the drums in my head. I froze, slowly raising my eyes to see...
I quickly walked through the forest, following the river downstream. I stopped when I saw a bridge. It was old and worn down but looked fairly steady. Maybe it will come in handy?
I continued walking along the riverbank for another ten minutes before I heard commotion on the other side of the river.
I his behind some bushes, scanning the other bank for any movement.
Then something burst out of the treeline, stumbling to the waters edge. It was Jack.
He put his hand in the running water, wincing slightly before relaxing a little.
I quickly stood up and called out to him. He froze for a second before looking up at me. A weak smile crept across his face.
I smiled back then thought about how I was going to get to him. The water was running too quickly to cross and it was too deep to swim across. Then I remembered the bridge.
"Go a little bit upstream. There is a bridge you can cross," I shouted to him.
He froze for a moment, looking around before returning my gaze to me. What was he looking for?
He nodded before standing up, clutching his wrist tightly. He disappeared in the trees and bushes again. Why didn't he just walk by the waters edge?
I shook it off and ran back to the bridge, and by run I mean quickly hobble since my leg was killing me. I was fairly certain I had split a few stitches.
I walked back into the trees. I didn't want to risk being caught by Robin and Amy when I only just found Mar. again.
I ran as fast as I could but the pain in my arm causes me to stop several times. And I had to get a drink of water.
The whole time the waters edge was just in sight, so I wouldn't miss the bridge. When I finally did spot the bridge I couldn't help but smile.
I walked up to the old wooden structure and looked at the dark swirling water below. I would hate to fall in. There is no way you would be able to get back out again.
I finally reached the bridge. Jack was only just walking up to the other side when it came into view. He looked into the water. He dropped the green bag on one shoulder to the ground, clutching his arm tightly.
I drooped my own bag to the ground and walked up to the other side of the bridge. His head shot up to mine, our eyes meeting.
A smile spread across his face. I couldn't help but smile myself. That is until I saw someone approach Jack from behind.
Before I could react the person grabbed Jack and held a knife to his neck. The mysterious figure was wearing a black mask that has blood splattered on it already.
My breath caught I'm my throat when I saw Amy step out from behind it. She wasn't wearing a mask but she too had blood only face. They had killed something. Or someone.
"This is what happens when little boys try to escape. Shouldn't have done that now should you?" The man cooed to Jack, an evil tone in his voice.
"Leave him alone!" I growled at the man. Jack was in tears but didn't take his scarred eyes off of me.
"And what are you gonna do if I don't?" The man snickered. I growled at him harshly.
"This!" I said before charging at him...
I watched in horror as Mark charged at Robin. Everything seemed to move in slow motion as Amy stepped forward and blocked him, pushing him to side.
Mark stumbled and fell backwards. He fell over the edge of the bridge. His body disappearing in the dark water. I screamed and tried to kick at Robin but nothing worked.
My arms began to flash with ink markings, all made by me and Mark at one point in our lives. I couldn't stop the flow of tears in my eyes as all the memories of when I wrote them all flooded back to me.
Amy looked at the water in shock. She turned to Robin and tried to tell him she didn't mean to push him off but no one was listening.
I felt sick. I felt everything closing in on me. The fresh open air becoming stale and hard to breath in.
I couldn't feel my body bit I felt everything touching it. My clothes, Robin arms holding me tightly, my tears streaming down my face.
I couldn't control my own body. My breathing was too fast but also too slow. My heart beat seemed to race and stop at the same time. My body went numb and my vision darkened.
He was gone. And it was all because of me...
I'm crying. Imma just gonna jump in after Mark and join him.
