Chapter - 4 ✨
Triple updates 😭😌🧿
Avyansh and Pakhi entered her room. As he looked around, a smile tugged at his lips. 'Her room is as beautiful as she is', he thought. The walls were lined with photographs-moments filled with laughter, joy, and family gatherings. They settled into chairs beside a small round table, the air thick with unspoken words and unacknowledged emotions. Pakhi turned toward Avyansh, her eyes searching his. "Avyansh, tumane shaadi ke liye haan kyun kaha?" she asked softly. (Avyansh, Why did you say yes to the marriage?)
In his mind, Avyansh reflected, 'I was the one who suggested this marriage. Why would I refuse it now?' But instead, he simply replied, "Sab is rishte se khush the, toh maine mana nahi kiya." (Everyone was happy with this relationship, so I didn't say no.) His voice remained steady.
Pakhi's brow furrowed slightly. "Phir bhi... ek baar try toh karte, shayad tumhare papa maan jaate." Her voice held a trace of disappointment.(Still, you should've tried once; maybe your father would've agreed.)
Avyansh raised an eyebrow and smirked playfully. "Tum mujhse keh rahi ho mana karne ke liye, tum kar dona mana." He leaned back in his chair, enjoying the banter. (You're asking me to refuse, you refuse yourself?)
Pakhi's gaze softened, and her voice lowered. "Par mein kaise mana karu." (How could I say no!? )
Avyansh replied, "Apne muh se aur keise." with a smile.(With your mouth, what how?) Pakhi glared at him, "Tum na, apna muh bandh rakho varna..." Avyansh closed his mouth, acted as he was afraid of her. (Shut your mouth or else..)
Pakhi's asked with frustration, "Tum shadi ke liye mana karoge ki nahi?" (Will you say no to marriage or not?) Avyaansh didn't answered her question. She said with anger, "Javab to do." (Answer me.)
He said with innocent face, "Par tumne hi mana kiya tha bolane ke liye." (But you only told me not to speak.) She signed and said, "Ab bolo." (Now speak). He replied, "Mein nahi karane vare vala mana." with a smile. (I am not doig it.)
Pakhi, exasperated, exclaimed, "Tum furat se kahin jaake mar kyun nahi jaate!?" (Why don't you go somewhere and die?) The words slipped out in a moment of frustration.
Avyansh gazed at her tenderly, thinking, 'Mar toh raha hoon, tumhare pyaar mein, JAAN.' (I'm dying in your love, JAAN.) He could see the turmoil in her eyes, and it made his heart ache. He didn't respond right away, but his gaze spoke volumes.
Pakhi said, "Ab aise mujhe dekh kyun rahe ho? Kuchh bolo bhi." (Now why are you looking at me like this? Say something.) She crossed her arms, masking the vulnerability she felt.
Avyansh thought, 'Tumhe nahi dekhunga toh aur kisey dekhunga.' (If I don't look at you, then who else would I look at?)
With an innocent expression, he replied softly, "Kuchh nahi, bas ase hi dekh raha tha." (Nothing, I was Just looking)
Pakhi, thought to herself, 'Avyansh aise nahi manane waala, mujhe kuch aur karna hoga.' (Avyansh won't agree like this; I have to do something else.) A mischievous smile played on her lips as she said, "Mujhe ladko mein koi interest nahi hai." (I'm not interested in guys.)
Avyansh, grinning, replied, "Mujhe chalega, tum mujhme interest dikha dena." (I'm fine with that, just show some interest in me.)
Pakhi rolled her eyes. "Pagal insaan! Mujhe ladke nahi pasand. I like girls, did you hear that?" (Idiot. I don't like boys. I like girls, did you hear that?). She was frustrated, but a small smile tugged at the corners of her lips.
Avyansh, unable to resist teasing, shot back, "Chal jhooti, toh ab tak maine tumhe kabhi kisi ladki ke saath nahi dekha." (Come on, liar, I've never seen you with a girl.)
Pakhi raised an eyebrow, a sly grin spreading across her face. "Tumhe bada pata hai? I already have a girlfriend. Aur hum abhi do din pehle hi trip pe gaye the. You know I love her so much." (Like You know everything? I already have a girlfriend. And we just went on a trip two days ago. You know how much I love her.)
Avyansh raised an eyebrow. "I don't believe you. Aur mujhe pata hai, tum last week ghar par thi na?" (I don't believe you. And I know you were at home last week.)
Pakhi smirked. "Nahi, last week mein uske saath, I mean meri love ke saath Goa gayi thi. Ruko, abhi dikhati hoon." (No, last week I went to Goa with my love. Wait, I'll show you.)
She pulled out her phone and showed him photos of her with Aarushi.
Avyansh stood still for a moment, stunned by the photos, but then his mind clicked. "Haww, jhooti! Apni pyaari si sister-I mean soul sister-ko apni girlfriend bolti ho, sharam nahi aati?" (Wow, liar! You call your soul sister your girlfriend, no shame?)
Pakhi's eyes widened in surprise. "Wh-What are you talking about? She is my girlfriend, not my soul sister. Understand?"
Avyansh grinned. "Ruko ek minute, abhi dikhaata hoon." He pulled up her Instagram posts. "Ab iske baare mein kya kehna hai?"
Pakhi's face flushed as she realized the caption from the other day: "Soul Sisters." She thought to herself, 'Mujhe kya zaroorat thi caption dalne ki?' (Why did I even need to add that caption?)
With a pout, she stormed off, frustrated, while Avyansh followed her, laughing softly.
The living room was filled with a buzz of excitement as Avyansh and Pakhi settled beside their parents. Veer, wearing a warm smile, turned to Pakhi and asked gently, "Pakhi beta, tumhe is rishte se koi aitraaz toh nahi hai, na?" (Pakhi, do you have any objection to this relationship?)
Pakhi turned her face toward him, her heart racing, but she shook her head, a soft smile playing on her lips. No objections.
Saraswati, unable to contain her excitement, clapped her hands together. "To ab dono ko koi aitraaz nahi hai, toh sagun bhi aaj hi de dete hain, kyun Veerbhai?" (So, since both of you have no objections, let's give the shagun today itself, right Veerbhai?)
Pakhi's eyes widened in surprise, her mind racing. Today? She hadn't expected it to happen so suddenly. Veer's voice cut through her thoughts, "Par hamane toh koi tayyari nahi ki hai, aise achanak kaise?" (But we haven't made any preparations; how can this happen suddenly?)
Saraswati smiled reassuringly. "Tayari ki chinta mat kijiye, vo hum karke aaye hain." (Don't worry about the preparations; we've taken care of it.) Her confidence filled the room, easing the tension.
Servants quickly returned with the sagun thali and other items, their soft footsteps adding to the lively chatter. Avyansh and Pakhi sat side by side on the sofa, their hands brushing against each other. A spark of connection passed between them, even though neither spoke.
Saraswati took the lead, applying tika to Pakhi's forehead with loving care. As she draped a red dupatta over Pakhi's head, a symbol of the new journey she was about to begin, she said, "Mere bacho ko kisiki nazar na lage aur hamesha khush rahen." (May no one's evil eye fall on my children, and may they always be happy.)
Then, Naina, came forward, applying tika to Avyansh's forehead and offering her blessings. "Mere bachche hamesha ek saath khush rahen." (May my children always be happy together.)
Saraswati handed Pakhi a bracelet. "Ye lo beta, ye sagun hamari taraf se." (Here, take this sagun from us.)
Pakhi took the bracelet from her.
Naina hesitated for a moment, then looked at Veer. "Hamare paas Avyansh ko dene ke liye kuch nahi hai abhi. Veer, kuch le aaiye." (We don't have anything to give Avyansh right now. Veer, please bring something.)
Before Veer could leave, Avyansh spoke, his tone humble and sincere, "Uncle, rukaiye, kuchh lene ki zarurat nahi hai. Aapne apna ashirvad de diya, wahi sab kuchh hai." (Uncle, wait, there's no need to get anything. Your blessings are more than enough.)
His words surprised everyone. There was a moment of silence, and then a wave of admiration filled the room.
Pakhi looked at him, her thoughts swirling. 'Ye itna achha kabse ban gaya?' (Since when did he become this good?)
Pakhi said, "Maa, mere paas ek bracelet hai, aap vo de do." (Mom, I have a bracelet; you can give that to him.)
Naina smiled and nodded. "Achhi baat hai, jaa kar le aa." (Good, go bring it.)
Pakhi hurried to her room and returned with the bracelet, handing it to Naina. Naina gave it to Avyansh with a soft smile. The ritual was complete.
Saraswati's face beamed with happiness as she spoke, "Ab, Pakhi meri officially bahu ban jayegi jaldi hi." (Now, Pakhi will officially become my daughter-in-law soon.)
Abhimaan added, "Woh sirf aapki nahi, hamari bhi bahu banegi." (She is not only yours, but also became our daughter-in-law.)
Hearing this, Veer and Naina exchanged a knowing look, their smiles widening. The warmth from her family filled Pakhi's heart, a sense of belonging washing over her.
Veer, with a twinkle in his eye, suggested, "Itne dino baad sab saath mein hain, toh khana kha kar hi jaana hai. Koi mana nahi karega." (After so many days, we're all together, so let's have dinner before leaving. No one's allowed to say no.)
Abhimaan, agreeing with a grin, said, "Ha, thik hai, tu keh raha hai toh ruk jaate hain." (Okay, if you say so, we'll stay.)
They all laughed, and Naina added, "Main jaake dinner ki tayyari dekh kar aati hoon." (I'll go check preparation of the dinner.)
Pakhi and Vaani also followed her. After some time Naina came out from kitchen and sit beside Saraswati.
As they all moved toward the kitchen, Avyansh caught a moment to watch Pakhi and Vaani preparing dinner with the help of the maids. Feeling mischievous, he quietly snuck behind a pillar to observe Pakhi's cooking, admiring the way she moved with such care.
Just then, Abheer came up behind him, his voice soft but teasing. "Kya kar rahe ho, bhai?" (What are you doing, bro?)
Startled, Avyansh turned to see Abheer standing there with a grin. "Tum yahan kya kar rahe ho?" (What are you doing here?)
Abheer's mischievous smile widened. "Main yuhin ghoom raha tha. Aap kya kar rahe the?" (Just wandering around. What about you?)
Avyansh, trying to cover up his actions, shrugged. "Main bhi ghoom raha tha." (I was just wandering too.)
Abheer raised an eyebrow. "Achha? Mujhe toh kuchh dal mein kala lag raha hai." (Really? Something seems fishy.)
Avyansh rolled his eyes, trying to hide his embarrassment. "Tera dimag kala hai, dal mein kuch nahi, chal living room mein." (Your brain's the only thing that's dark, not the dal. Go to the living room.)
Abheer muttered, "Aap taka jaki ke kar rahe the, aur dimag mera kala hai?" (You were sneaking around, and my brain's the one that's dark?). With a pout, he walked off to the living room.
Pakhi returned to the living room shortly after, announcing, "Dinner ready hai, chaliye." (Dinner's ready, let's go.)
Everyone settled at the table. Pakhi and Vaani served the food, and as Pakhi placed a separate bowl of vegetables in front of Avyansh, she couldn't help but smirk.
Avyansh took a bite, his eyes widening in shock. 'Ye itna tikha kyun hai?' (Why is this so spicy?) He glanced at Pakhi, who was fighting a smile.
He took another bite, and his face turned bright red from the heat. Pakhi couldn't help but feel sad, watching him eat with a grin despite the pain. They finished dinner, and after some ice cream, Abhimaan stood up. "Chalo ab chale." (Alright, let's go.)
Veer, insisting with a smile, replied, "Baitho thodi der, baad mein jaana." (Sit for a while, leave later.)
Abhimaan smiled, shaking his head. "Nahi, der ho gayi hai. Abhi chale, phir kabhi dubara aajayenge." (No, it's getting late. Let's go now, we'll come again later.)
Veer smiled, "Thik hai, par aate rehna." (Alright, but do come back soon.) They exchanged warm goodbyes.
On the ride home, Avyansh smiled to himself, but Abheer couldn't resist teasing. "Oh ho, bhai itna muskura kyun rahe ho? Mujhe bhi batao." (Why are you smiling so much? Come on, tell me.)
Avyansh snapped out of his thoughts and shrugged. "Main kahan muskura raha hoon?" (Where am I smiling?)
Abheer, with a mischievous grin, teased further. "Nahi bhai, aap muskura rahe the, bataiye kahi Pakhi Bhabhi ki yaad toh nahi aa rahi hai." (No, you were smiling, tell me, are you missing Pakhi Bhabhi?)
Avyansh, trying to avoid the topic, waved it off. "Aisa kuch nahi hai. Tu chup chap samne dekh aur car chal, nahi toh hum Bhagwan ko pyaare ho jaayenge." (Nothing like that. Just drive and keep your mouth shut, or we might end up getting into trouble.)
Abheer, still poking fun, said dramatically, "Ha, thik hai. Aap keh rahe hain toh man leta hoon ki aap nahi muskura rahe the. Aur mujhe koi marne nahi hai, main toh abhi akhand single hoon," he said with a pout. (Okay, fine. Since you're saying it, I'll believe that you weren't smiling. And I'm not dying anytime soon, I'm still proudly single.)
A frown crept across Avyansh's face as he glanced at Abheer.
After a brief pause, Abheer spoke up again, his voice teasing, "Wese bhai, agar Pakhi ne shaadi ke liye mana kar diya hota toh kya karte?" (By the way, bro, what would you have done if Pakhi had said no to the marriage?)
Avyansh's eyes widened in shock, his mind racing. He looked at Abheer and smacked the back of his head lightly. "Kabhi toh kuch achha bol liya karo. Jab dekho tab bakwas karte rehte ho. Sara mood khatam kar diya," Avyansh grumbled, clearly frustrated. "Aur waise bhi, mana karti toh-" (Can't you ever say something nice? You're always talking nonsense. You've ruined the whole mood.) (And anyway, if she had refused-)
Before he could finish, Abheer cut in, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Toh aap kya, usse kidnap kar ke shaadi karte? Ya gun point pe shaadi karwate?" (So what would you have done? Kidnapped her and forced her to marry you? Or married her at gunpoint?)
Avyansh snapped back, his tone firm. "Shut up! Bakwas bandh kar. Main usse pyaar karta hoon, aur main kabhi usse force nahi karunga. Agar usne shaadi ke liye mana bhi kar diya hota, toh main usse court karta, uske aage-peeche ghoomta takki wo mujhe bhi pyaar kar sake." His eyes softened for a moment as he added, "Aur jab tak wo mujhse pyaar nahi karti, tab tak main uska intezaar karta." (Shut up! Stop talking nonsense. I love her, and I would never force her. Even if she had refused the marriage, I would have pursued her, stayed around her, so that she could fall in love with me too.) (And until she fell in love with me, I would have waited for her.)
Abheer raised an eyebrow, his curiosity piqued. "Aur phir bhi agar wo aapse pyaar nahi kar pati?" (And what if she still didn't love you?)
Avyansh sighed, his voice gentle yet determined. "Toh main apna pyaar usse dikhata, par main usse kabhi mujhse door nahi jaane dunga. Main usse paanch saal door tha, ab nahi. Aur tu yeh bakwas karna bandh kar. Usne shaadi ke liye haan kiya hai, toh tu mujhe aur tension dena bandh kar." (Then I would have shown her my love, but I would never let her go away from me. I was away from her for five years, but not anymore. And you stop talking nonsense now. She has already said yes to the marriage, so stop giving me unnecessary tension.)
Frustration built within Avyansh, and before Abheer could say anything else, Avyansh interrupted in a serious tone, "Ek aur shabd, Abheer, aur main tere cards bandh karva dunga, bikes aur cars bhi le lunga pure saal ke liye. Phir karte rehna jitni bakwas karni ho." (One more word, Abheer, and I'll get all your cards blocked and take away your bikes and cars for an entire year. Then you can keep talking as much nonsense as you want.)
Abheer, trying to act innocent, dramatically shook his head. "You can't do that. Main bada ho gaya hoon ab, aur office bhi jaane laga hoon. Log kya sochenge? Meri image kharab ho jayegi!" he said, making a sad face. (You can't do that. I've grown up now, and I've even started going to the office. What will people think? My image will be ruined!)
Avyansh couldn't help but chuckle, shaking his head. "Ha, toh jab tu bakwas karta hai tab teri image kharab nahi hoti?! Aya bada image wala. Pehle time se uth, fir image ki chinta karna. Aur haan, kal se ek hafte ke liye office ka saara kaam tu karega. Main ek hafte ke liye office nahi aunga." he said in a calm tone, his eyes narrowing playfully. (Oh, so when you talk nonsense, your image doesn't get ruined?! Look at you, so concerned about your image. First, try waking up on time, then worry about your reputation. And yes, from tomorrow, you'll handle all the office work for a whole week. I'm not coming to the office for a week.)
Abheer looked at him, his mouth slightly agape in disbelief. He opened his mouth to protest but shut it quickly, realizing Avyansh wasn't kidding.
Soon, they reached home. Abheer immediately started complaining to Avyansh's mother, Saraswati. "Ansh kyu pareshan kar raha hai mere bachhe ko itna?" Saraswati, smiling warmly, stroked Abheer's cheek. (Ansh, why are you troubling my son so much?)
Avyansh, trying to defend himself, quickly said, "Maine kuch nahi kiya, usse bas bakwas karni hoti hai." (I didn't do anything, he just likes talking nonsense.)
Abheer, with a mock innocent expression, replied, "Maine kuch bakwas nahi ki, meri baat toh hamesha important hoti hai." (I didn't talk nonsense, my words are always important.)
Avyansh raised an eyebrow, smirking. "Important, huh?" He began walking toward Abheer, but Abheer dashed behind Saraswati, playfully hiding.
Saraswati, seeing the exchange, stopped Avyansh with a gentle smile. "Bas, bahut ho gaya majak aur khel jaane do aab. Tum dono ko sone jaao, kal office jaana hoga na?" (Enough, that's enough. Let go of the joking and playing. You both need to sleep, you have to go office tomorrow.)
Avyansh smiled, "Meri toh kal se chutti hai, main aram se sounga." (I have a holiday tomorrow, I'll sleep peacefully.)
Hearing this, Abheer's face turned pouty. He mumbled under his breath, "Ha, aap toh soyege, mujhe jo sara kaam de diya hai." (Yeah, you'll sleep, and I'm stuck doing all the work.)
Avyansh, hearing him, asked, "Kuch kaha tune?" (Did you say something?)
Abheer quickly shook his head. "Nahi, maine kuch nahi kaha." (No, I didn't say anything.)
He turned to Saraswati with a cute face, "Badi maa, main sone ja raha hoon. Good night." (Badi Maa, I'm going to sleep. Good night.)
Saraswati smiled affectionately. "Good night, bachhe." (Good night, dear.)
Abheer made his way to his room, still pouting but in an adorable way.
Avyansh smiled watching Abheer's retreating figure. "Good night, Maa." he said softly to Saraswati.
She replied, "Good night, Ansh." and headed to her own room.
Avyansh walked to his room, feeling a sense of peace as he reflected on the evening's events.
