Star Doe

a facial reconstruction of the Jane Doe
Discovered February 13th, 1960

UNSOLVED

Star Doe is a currently unidentified body.

On February 13th, 1960, in Spokane, Washington, two sisters, only ever named in reports as Anne and Bridget, which are believed to be fake names, were walking through the woods when they came across the decapitated body of a woman. Her head would be discovered a few hours later not too far from where her body was originally found. Her hands had stars carved into them, and her forehead had the word 'star' carved into it, thus leading to her being nicknamed as Star Doe. They also found she was pregnant with an eight month male fetus. She was believed to have been dead for several weeks at that point.

As per it goes, police were unable to identify her. She would be buried eight months later, on October 1st, 1960, in Greenwood Memorial Terrace, her grave reading;

OUR SWEET STAR DOE
DISCOVERED FEBRUARY 13, 1960

Her funeral amassed over 100 guests.

Over the years, several leads were followed. One popular theory is that she was missing woman, Esther Baroque, who had disappeared from Seattle, Washington, a few months before the discovery of Star Doe's body. DNA tests in the nineties from Esther's granddaughter would rule her out and to this day, Esther's exact fate is unknown.

A multitude of other missing women have been ruled out as the decedent.

In 2017, an isotope analysis was conducted and they as such believed that Star Doe was from a European Mediterranean country, the top contenders being Greece, Brookina, Italy and Cessca.

As of May 29th, 2023, Star Doe remains unidentified.
